  1. Well, I am not completely sure on how all of this is going to work, but - they can all still play each other during the season - and wouldn't this make it where they could end up facing each other further down the road in the playoffs? I mean, in the same district there would be less of a chance of them playing each other deep in region and/or substate, right? So, I would think they could still play each other in season - it just wouldn't be a district game, and it would be interesting deeper in the playoffs if they faced each other. I know it is not ideal, but no classification is completely perfect. Trenton will now most likely not be playing Milan in football, and that has been a county rivalry forever.
  2. Good questions. Although I am just the middle school coach, I would be interested in the answers. As far as criticizing the kids - I say a grown man hiding behind an alias disparaging a sixteen year old kid on a public message board lives a rather sorry existence. We coaches are big boys, and we expect criticism. We can handle it. If we couldn't, we would need to find another vocation. Personally, I can at least respect criticism when it is face to face. I don't have much time for criticism hiding behind a username. Coach Darrell Royal said it best: "The only thing that disturbs me about my profession is the fact that people give you too much credit when you win and too much criticism when you lose. I'll be the same person and do the same things and say the same things when we lose. But people won't believe me then. I won't change, but the people will." This is the first and last time I will address this on this board. I can be contacted via my website and will be glad to communicate with someone who has an actual name, but we all know that isn't going to happen. http://teacherweb.com/TN/PeabodyHighSchool/JohnPrince/
  3. I didn't know that the two week intersession/fall break was mandated by the state to any school system. I just thought the local school board decided to implement such a calendar. Are you completely sure about your info? We have a three day fall break (Wed, Thurs, Fri) followed by a week of intersession in Trenton. There are mixed reviews over intersession's worth. Either way, I think most coaches here feel having kids out of a routine is not beneficial. I coach middle school football, and our season was over the week before fall break, so it doesn't really affect me. I think, however, I would have to lean to the idea of starting after Labor Day and getting out before Memorial Day with as few of breaks as possible (you would still have to get in 180 days of school no matter what) Starting and stopping, starting and stopping disrupts the educational process.
  4. Well, to be honest, I've been in it a while, and I've seen stranger things happen.
  5. Good grief. I periodically check these boards to see what the talk is about, and it appears to me that the talk is less and less about football. I say Trenton over Milan by 6. Roll Tide.
