  1. Since when is "lack of talent" an excuse for any program winning or losing? So you are telling the readers of Coach,T that UConn and UT win in women's basketball because of the coaching? It has nothing to do with the high school All-Americans they sign year in and year out? I'm assuming Calapri's great coaching mind won Kentucky a national title, not the 4 first round draft picks he had on the roster. Bottom line, you still need players to win, period. Chemistry is also a major factor.

Not really sure what your argument/point is in relation to my post.

However my point was Catholic should have talent and coaching this year so excuses are off the table , they should Be very competitive .

But thanks for the input about Uconn, UT, Calapari, and Kentucky, It was impressive !

  2. If everyone on Catholic stays healthy , they will compete. Might not be strong enough to overcome Farragut, but they will give everyone else a run for it.

With the Dead Period Officially about to start (for most programs) which teams set themselves apart this summer. I heard Farragut did very well at MTSU. I know Bearden, Farragut, Maryville, and Catholic all went to the Mid-State to get different/better competition. I wonder how they did?

  3. I will say this, I saw Elizabethton play at the Bearden Summer Camp and their Assistant Coach is beyond ridiculous when it comes to the officials! He was totally out of line in multiple CAMP GAMES saying rude things to the officials during the entire JV game and even during the Varsity game. I won't speak to the way he treated his players which was just slightly better than the officials. I wan't at Alcoa, however this seems to be a trend and the admin should take notice.

  4. Sometimes the obvious needs to be pointed out. If you think it's "sad" the camp isn't up to your expectations, simply go elsewhere or try to find out teams expected to be there before committing.

Whoa! Easy there! Didn't know you had bought stock in the Shelbyville Girls Team Camp. I was just commenting on how great the camp used to be back in the day because it was just stacked with Powerhouse programs, now a lot of that has diffused to other camps and its a shame. However, I apologize for going to a Message Board and expressing an opinion that differs from a SCHS Stock Holder..the team camp is awesome! Its as good as it has always been..maybe even better..the level of Talent there this week is Top Notch!

And just a side note I think a lot of teams seem to feel this way and are going other places....just saying

  5. You can evaluate your own players at any camp. That's what they're for, and to give players the opportunities they may not have received yet in previous seasons. They're not about entertainment for the fans though there is interest always in how teams do.

Very sound insight into summer basketball camps I am impresses ....However what happens when your a powerhouse program and you go to a camp and can't get any sound competition to work on weaknesses and see how the players respond to struggles? A team like Mt. Juliet can play terrible and beat most teams..however I always thought camp games in hot gyms were for the fans and entertainment, so what do I know.

  6. This week's camp has Gallatin, Knoxville Catholic, Mt. Juliet, Cookeville, Wilson Central, Watertown, Cascade, Arab, Lincoln Co., Frank Hughes, Station Camp & Hendersonville.

Its pretty sad how much the camp has declined since Insell and Burkey left. Every week used to be loaded with some of the best teams in Tennessee. Any given night on the main court you would get to see Mt. Juliet vs. Oak Ridge, Wilson Central vs. Science Hill, Riverdale vs. Hillsboro. Now you get to watch Knoxville Catholic vs. Arab. There are still good teams at camp, however the competition level used to be amazing.

  7. Well Bearden lost their driving force in the point guard position ( Jai Jai). Maryville lost strong post (Maples). I would not count Catholic out, they might surprise you , this should be a strong year for them. They have a lot of senior class this year. I guess we will have to wait and see how it all shakes out. The only team, I can say should be very dominate is, Farragut.

I agree that they bring back some seniors but those seniors have never really won...is there a player on Catholics roster you would take over Walsh at Bearden or Bangesh at Maryville ? I can't think of one. Both of those kids will be all district , just saying that a year older always isn't a year better. However I do think Catholic will be right in the thick of things in the middle fighting for 4th hopefully better.

  8. 1. Farragut- will be strong(next couple years)

    2. Catholic -this could be their year

    3. Maryville- agree (scrappy)

    4. Bearden, L C, West- whoever has strongest point guard- agree Bearden's points are weak this year

    5. Heritage - William Blount - could go either way

I would hold off on the Catholic predictions. They were supposed to be the sleeper team last year and didn't finish well and they have never won a single District 4AAA tourney game so let's slow down, I have a hard time putting them ahead of teams like bearden and Maryville .

  9. How does the district look for 2012-13 season with all the coach changes? Who lost key players to graduation? Who will stand out at which school? Any incoming stand out freshman? Any teams with injuries that will impact season? Predictions on who will take it all this year? Where are teams playing at for summer camps?

Bearded does a group of young players, Walsh is very very good, but she is the only one who can score. Both of their point guards are pretty weak.

Farragut looked very strong and deep, pressed the entire game, will be very good . They are tall at all spots.

Maryville is smaller but all the girls are working hard and they are scrappy.

William Blount looks like they will struggle , might be a team that gets better as the season progresses .

Heritage will be better , they are young and scrappy shoot a lot of 3s and physical defense

  10. So they let the coach go Monday and have already hired a new coach? Former multi-sport Maryville athlete?

The new coach will be former Lady Vol Courtney McDaniel who has been an assistant at a few are High School Teams. So say my sources.

  11. After checking coach T it's 37-86. Playing in tough AA and AAA districts.

Well it was hyperbole saying 12-200. However, since you did the research I guess 37 wins in 5 years is a lot better, averaging 7 wins a year is pretty good. I wonder what the District record is 8-34 maybe.

I like Fisher or Norris for the spot.

  12. Well, that will be too bad for the Mighty Lady Ads, when and if they get far enough along that they meet Science Hill. Science Hill is at a whole another level of basketball. You must not remember last year, let me refresh your memory. Science Hill beat Farragut like a drum, is it all coming back now? I have said this over and over, Farragut had so much more talent last year and still could not beat SH. It's not gonna happen , does this help refresh your memory. The Mighty Lady Ads, if they make it to state, will meet a lot more teams, that have so much more talent! Hey, keep on dreaming , because that's all it is , a DREAM, if you think Farragut has even a snow balls chance in, well you know what I mean, of even thinking about winning state. Hate to be the one (not really) to break it to you, Farragut just does not have the TALENT!

Oh and Farragut having the two best guards and MVPs in district 4, Blevins and Smith, that's a good one! Farragut had Blevins and Smith, last year, let's c u did not get to state last year either. Keep these classic post coming. You gotta be high on something when your posting all this crap you come up with.

You are very negative about the Farragut team. I would be too if I was a parent from a District foe, all Farragut girls basketball does is win at a very high level, it could get frustrating.

I wouldn't say Science Hill beat Farragut like a Drum it was tied at the half and was a close game in the 4th qtr then Farragut had to press and foul toward the end and the score got away from them.

The best part about this Farragut team is that when last season ended and they lost 3 great seniors everyone said they would struggle this year and wouldn't be very good. Bearden, Maryville, William Blount, and Catholic were all ranked ahead of them in PrepXtra and look at the team now. People were all excited to finally see Farragut struggle and they didn't they are 24-5 and will bring back 4 starters and a lot of young talent next year.

So enjoy dogging Farragut losing in Substate, its an amazing accomplishment just getting there and if history is a judge Farragut will be back again.

  13. Throttling....Hahahahahahaha In case you weren't there it went to OT.

You should thank the Lady Rebs for missing 8 straight FTs along with committing some of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen and more unforced TOs than I could count. I thought it was more Maryville losing the game than Farragut winning it.

What is an unforced turnover? So there was no defense on the court? Maryville traveled a lot, but a lot of it was caused by defense.

I think saying that Farragut didn't win the game is doing those girls a disservice. That would be like me asking you who the Catholic girls are playing in the Region Tourney.

  14. "Bearden probably has two of the best Sophmores in the area in Lexus Norwood and Erin Walsh."

You think that because you are obviously noorwoods dad. Every post you make is either about her or fishing for compliments /comments about her

  15. Good points;

Beardon I think is the sleeper (great young talent)

    Heritage (great young talent)

Catholic (all I know is the twins)

Bearden's best player is Jai Jai who has been an All District type player since her Soph. year. Im not sure about their having any young talent. They were young last year, but still didn't win much..they are very size challenged.

Catholic always seems to have some great new group of freshman...it was Bianca Andre/Erin Walsh...then it was the Twins..now its they other twins and the Scott girl...lets see if it gets them better than 8th in the district for the 3rd Straight year..more so if you can their time in District 4 AA.

It will be interesting to see how LC seniors respond to their 3rd coach in 4 years.

Looks like rebuilding year at Farragut

Maryville will be hard to handle with Maples and Singleton.

  16. I'd say Greeneville pays considerably more than Jeff Co...Potts would be a great fit and has an awful lot of friends here but he's an assistant at CN and might be perfectly content there. Galyon just gives me the creeps.

I think Potts would do a great job. I agree that the college life might be too easy to give up.

  17. Knox county freshman report

Bearden: Walsh , carter , norwood are all future contributors

West: haven't seen much freshman talent, have a post player who has good size

Catholic: haven't seen many freshman players, sure they will "find some"

Farragut: seems to have a strong class, jameson post player is good
