  1. Rocking chair- honey, go take a pill or something. I don't see any of the GC fans on here trashing the LA players. As usual it's the fans. The earlier post from the Bee fan proved that. RC, my post may be silly by your standards, but most of your posts are very insulting and arrogant. Those LA girls played their heart out. I take nothing at all away from them. My comment about the tackles was dead on as anyone with one eye and half sense could see. Where any of you can get that all the calls went our way is beyond me. I wish I knew what they were smoking. GC girls spent alot of time smacking the floor from being knocked down without any call. I began to think they had stair steps on their back the way some of the LA players were climbing all over them, but once again, that's aggressive b-ball. If the whistle was blown for every violation, we'd never get finished with a game. As far as a blow-out, Da Kidd, no way. With the exception of the last 3:14, it was way too close for comfort. But, I will have to say that it wasn't close just because of LA, but because GC was beating themselves. Your D didn't shut Butler down so much that she couldn't perform. She played her heart out as usual, but she missed some open shots right in the paint out front after she blew by the D. But that's ok. We love her and she played awesome. She'll be the first to tell you she's not a "one man show". My only reason for posting in the first place was because of all the "season play"/schedule comments by the majority of LA fans and the typical lack of respect for teams west of the TN River. We've been dealing with that for years, so it's really not much of a surprise. It justs gets old after a while. I mean we win the Class AA state championship for the very first time in our history and still have to listen to all the smack and crap. Talk about disrespecting. Go GC Lady Pioneers! Be proud of what you have accomplished even if others don't seem to think you deserve it! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Gibson County and West Tennessee are proud of you! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I would also like to congratulate all the other West TN teams for their success this year. We had representation in all 3 championship games. Way to go girls!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    Well said! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  2. Gibson was up by 3 with 3:14 to go. Don't act like you blew the Lady Wildcats out of the gym. It didn't happen. It was a good ball game. The better team won yesterday. In my opinion, McMinn was a better team than the team LA faced yesterday, as was Upperman. That's the way the game came out yesterday. Congratulations to Gibson County on a State Championship, congratulations to LA on runner-up. You made a good run.

Like i said. it was not a blow out. but if your going to say that McMinn and Upperman was better than the LA team that showed up yesterday, then we can also say that the GC team that showed up and played was not the same GC team that beat westview by 30 something points in the region championship game or the same GC team that won every game except three or four by 20 + points. anyone who made the trip to west tennessee to watch GC play out of the state tourny will tell you that the GC Lady P's did not play as full as they did for most of the season. with that said, any team can make this argument. Im sure Marshall county and McMinn would love to make this argument for there teams as well. GC knows they didnt blow LA out of the water and so do most the fans. but when you look back in the books 10 years down the road, its not going to say this was a 3 point game untill the final 3 minutes. its going to have GC winning by 20 points. as much unjustice it gives how the game really went, thats how it will be. like it or not.

  3. I hope so but I doubt it. All they'll wanna talk about is how GC blew out LA by 20 points! They'll fail to remember that we kept it close for 3 and a half qtrs.

Not all GC fans are bosting about the 20 point win. if you take away the last three minutes you have a really good ball game and everyone that was there knows that. i think what GC fans are more boasting about is the fact coming into this tourny no one gave GC alot of credit or respect for being undefeated and totally blowing other teams out of the water all season with the exception of 3 or 4 games. all anyone said was that GC does not play quality teams in the regular season. just because our schedule dont take us across the river does not mean there are not really good teams in west tennessee. i think martin's performance and Casity from Obion County being one of the three finalist for ms basketball back up that statement. Our girls had alot to prove to the rest of the state and i think they did that. and i also think the question of can GC win with Butler shut down has been answered. its a yes. that was not the best game of her career and she'll be the first to tell you that she was off bad. even with her only scoring 13 points the rest of the team pulled together to beat a very good LA team who in my opinion is owed alot of credit for going against the odds in this tourny. both teams were not givin alot of credit and we all know it. and yea we could go into the what ifs heather would of been hot and all that stuff, but it dosent really matter now. i will agree with coach McMillan that the game GC played saturday night was probably one of the worst they have played all season. but everyone should be proud of both teams becase both, in my opinion, were behind the eight ball when this tounement started. maybe west tennessee will get a lil respect now.

  4. Sixth man is right. RUMOR has it that they are making some sort of HUGE SIGN, and something on a stick?? HA HA /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    GC 64

Never know what surprises are in store. lol. there are some really people in "The Booth"!

  5. Well one thing is for sure. "The Booth", as the red shirts like to cll themselves now, will be there Thursday stronger than ever. Alot of em are goin up Wed., but even more are going thursday including all of the pep buses not only from the high school, but from each of the jr. highs. Go Lady P's!!!!! the sixth man will be on your side!

  6. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> My bad!! I thought surely that poster wasn't talking about GC! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

    Yea surely not considering they are a GC fan /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  7. Under the radar? What rock you been hiding under? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Gibson Co. for several years has been a household name in AA girls basketball and this year has been no different. Sounds like they are doing some good things with that program.

I think they might have been talking about Boliver being under the radar. not GC

  8. I am a Central fan and I think we will win this one. That being said, this was not the team I was hoping we would draw. LA is dangerous and Central cannot over look them. La has played a gruelling schedule and is still standing. That says a lot. I think the winner here advances to finals.

I also agree that that is a safe bet.

  9. Well the drawings are done. Undefeated GC plays Boliver Central Thursday at the BURO. I don't know much about Boliver Central but i do know GC is one of the best girls teams i've seen. What is yalls thoughts on this game.

I dont know how accurate this report is, its just second hand gossip, but i heard Boliver played Haywood's girls twice. the first time they beat Haywood by seven and the second time they beat them by eleven. Boliver fans can tell us more about this im sure and please correct me if im wrong. but if this is true, you may be able to make a lil predicition off of those stats, considering how bad GC thrashed Haywood twice. but with that said, it all comes down to what you put on the court Thursday. weird things can happen at the Buro. GC will be ready though.

  10. Although we know who is favored, lets talk it up. I know that the Lady Cats will love to play this game, and cannot wait.

Even though McMinn Central will be heavily favored, i still think this will be one of the best games of the first day. I think Livingston will come ready to play and try to prove something. i dont think they will pull it off, but i do think it will be a good game none the least.

  11. Milan wins easily again. I just hope they come out injury free. Im pullin fo rthe dogs to go all the way this year! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> It would be nice to have the title in west tennessee for once.

  12. I have alot of respect for the coaches at USJ. They lost their strating quarterback last year to graduation and they filled his spot with an awesome player. Another thing is that alot of pre season polls didn't give them much of a chance this season but man they have done the complete opposite of what the experts thought.

  13. Strength and strength of schedule have absolutely no bearing on who gets a wild card slot. They are not a part of the criteria used by the TSSAA. If there were to be only one wild card slot available for a 5 win team, Waverly would get that spot if my understanding of the criteria is correct. I believe they would win all tie breakers over all teams according to my calculations. Adamsville must beat Huntingdon to go to the show. They won't get in as a 5 win team based on tie breakers if all games go according to form. If Gibson County were to win Friday, Adamsville would be behind the Pioneers on the wild card ladder. If Adamsville has 5 wins, they would need both JCS and Gibson County to lose to have a shot. Even in that case, there would have to be at least 3 available slots for 5 win teams.

And the chances of JCS loosing is very slim to none. And on the other hand Gibson County has a good chance to win also.

  14. Doesn't look good for Gibson County. They seem to have lost something as the year has gone on. Has something happened there or has the schedule just been tougher in recent weeks?

A region 8 2A schedule is always tuff, especially when 4 of the teams in the district are in the same county. Those games go futher than just friday night. I will agree GC lost alot of fire in some games they should of won, alot of people beleive the only definate loses they should of had this year were milan and USJ, and JCS should of been alot closer, but thats the past and GC is promised only one more game. You can beleive they will have more fire than alot of people think. They are inspispired by even being in the playoff talk. Think about how long its been since you've heard GC talked about in playoff sinerios, (even though alot would have to happen to get in). I think you will see the GC team who beat TCA if not even better. And trust me, they aren't takin Humbolt lightly, especially since they are inner county rivals.

  15. Overcoming that kind of history is hard to do, but maybe the odds are in GC's favor. I mean, you have to beat them sometime. Even Memphis finally beat TN.

I'm gonna go with the Pioneers.

    GC.....24

    Humboldt.....21

Your right. Over coming history is hard. But odds like that is something GC is used to and it dosen't weigh on their minds. They have a really talented senior class who was part of that four win team four years ago before Argo left them. They would love nothin more thanto win 5 games and have the winningest record in their 4 years at GC. Coaches have been preaching all week how its a must win if the team as more weeks to prepare for or not, and GC going to the playoffs is against great odds so its a continueing battle every week. I think GC pulls this one out also.

  16. with westview having a really good kicking game and a pretty good ground game, will this create a problem for the dawgs if westview's defense stacks the box and coleman has an off night throwing the ball?

Westview's defense is not up to snuff this year. Milan won't have a problem with them no matter what they do. Gibson County's o-line dominated their d-line most of the night. If GC can do it, it should be a breeze for Milan's o line.

  17. That would be correct. And, that would greatly enhance the playoff chances for Gibson County as well. I just don't see it happening though to be perfectly honest.

Good luck to Gibson County on Friday.

Ok thanks again. Yea i see it as o long shot too but im trying to look at every aspect and all what ifs. Thanks again

  18. Gibson County makes a short trip to yet another rival game against Humbolt. The Pioneers are looking for their fifth win of the season, but one thing stands in the way. Humbolt. Humbolt is down this year but no one in region 8 2a likes loosing to GC. Here's a little history on this match-up. Gibson County has never beaten Humbolt. When i say never i mean never. It will be Humbolt's senior night and halloween night. Can GC get the W and make history with this win? Give me your thoughts.

  19. It is likely that there will be a maximum of 3 available wild card slots for 5 win teams. There would be a maximum of 4 if Cumberland Gap wins as predicted, AND North Greene upsets South Greene. There could be no available slots for 5 win teams too.

Assuming Gibson County gets 5 wins and the other 5 win teams come from a likely pool of West Greene, Waverly, Adamsville, and JCS, it is almost non existant possibility of two teams from region 8 getting wild cards. There is a much greater chance of Region 8 getting no wild card slots as opposed to getting two. If there were 4 available slots for 5 win teams, GC could get in if the pool was the above mentioned teams as you would own the first tie breaker over Adamsville.

The first tie breaker used would be wins over teams with records of 500 or better. That breaks down as follows:

    Waverly 2

JCS 2 (if Fayette Acadamy beats Middleton, and Gibson County beats Humboldt)

West Greene 1 (would have 2 if Hampton beats Cloudland.....Cloudland should be favored)

    Gibson County 1

    Adamsville 0

The second tie breaker (teams whos opponants have earned the most wins) does not favor Gibson County.

Gibson County has had a pretty good season. However, it does not look good for the Pioneers to make the dance.

Ok thank you for answering my questions. Yes GC has had a better year than normal, but hearts are heavy considering that they lost to Peabody and Westview which should of been wins, which would of equled automatic playoff birth. But thats the past. One last question and im done. What if Halls was to beat TCA for some odd reason. That would give GC 2 wins over a team with a winning record. Right?

  20. Your non region record has no bearing in a tie breaker. With a win against Humboldt, Gibson County would be an extreme long shot to get a wild card. Assuming that JCS defeats Dresden, Gibson County would have to hope that Middleton defeats Fayette Acadamy......and that simply is not going to happen barring heck freezing over. However, a Gibson County win and a Fayette Acadamy win would give JCS 2 wins over teams with at least 500 records assuming that JCS defeats a winless Dresden team on Friday.

Simply put, a Gibson County win would help JCS in any tie break scenarios.

Im new to this but reading this post has cleared up alot of things. I do have some questions and maybe you can answer them. What is the chance of two wild cards coming out of region 8 which would be JCS and GC (if GC wins). and if GC does get in, where would they go?

  21. There is no question that USJ will score. They are just too good not to. The questionis can GC's offense keep them in the game all night. If GC could match USJ score by score, it could be a very good ball game considering that GC loves to play keep away and have long drives down field. Overby can't make plays if he does not have the ball in his hand. If GC's offensive plan works tomorrow night, this game could be alot closer thanpeople expect.

  22. Gibson County will travel to USJ this weekend to take on a VERY tough USJ team. USJ is coming off a close win over JCS, while Gibson County is coming off a heart breaking loss to Westview last week. We all know that USJ will be the favorite in this one. They pass the ball really well which is something Gibson County has always had trouble defending. USJ has already locked up a play off spot, but for GC, sitting at 4-4, really needs this win to keep their play off dreams alive this season. If GC can pull off an upset with USJ being as high ranked as they are, it would really help GC to geting to the post season. The upset will be a strech but crazy things have happened all throught football this season. Give me predictions and scores...
