  1. baylorbigdog1976 Trainer Members 236 posts Posted 23 September 2012 - 09:51 PM The buck stops with the coach however Steve Spurrier would have trouble winning a d2 title at Father Ryan because the overall talent on the field is just not there. I have been to many games over the past few years.. Love the school, facilities and the people but the fact of the matter is the school simply does not have the football athletes to compete with BA, Ensworth, and MBA. baylorbigdog1976 Trainer Members 236 posts Posted 2 weeks ago I like Ryan just don't see them winning more than 3 games this year and that may be a stretch. If something does not change and they continue to play the same schedule ( have no choice ) I am not sure we will get much more out of Ryan but an occasional good season. Hope is always alive though and I enjoy seeing a positive post on Ryan when so many are negative.

  6. Coach Simpson lost a point because he called a "caution" from the bench and the official deducted him a point and said let the official make that call. It was totally different than a wrestler telling the Father Ryan fans to be quiet by putting a finger over his mouth and waving to the empty bleachers on the MBA side to get fired up when his team was down 37-9 and lost 11 of 13 matches. It was very disappointing. Not a classy move by the kid wrestling for a very classy coach and program who would not have wanted that to happen tonight.
  7. Great atmosphere at Father Ryan High School. Absolute complete domination by the Irish. Very disappointing to see the MBA kid at 220 taunting the Ryan fans after his win and their team down 37-9. Quite surprised Coach Frank Simpson allowed that to happen without disciplining him immediately. They are better than that, but might have been caught up in the moment. Ryan looks locked and loaded for the State Duals.

  17. Could you please keep us posted on the Semi-Final matches? Post any info on individual matches if possible. Thanks!
  18. Some of the best teams that "Financial Aid" can buy in the State. He is one of the best coaches in the area, but the guy always plays with a roster full of kids that are talented from their respective areas of town and recruited to play for him and receive financial aid. He is not the only coach and I am definitely not accusing him of anything illegal, because by the rules it is legal, but it is not like he is playing with no talent each year.
  19. No offense, but Trinity is on a whole different level than the State of Tennessee football. I am not sure there is a team in the state that could beat them in any division, which definitely includes Father Ryan.
  20. Ryan will need to have more consistent play at the QB position if they want to beat Baylor. RB Rapheal Hopkins has been fun to watch thus far in the season. Had another great night against Cane Ridge. Ryan's secondary has played extremely well the first two games and Jamonte Graham had another pick six late in the second half against Cane Ridge. A kid to watch is John Arnold the kicker from Father Ryan who has a good leg and could make a difference if the game is close. What's the scouting report on Baylor? I heard their kicker booted one from 50 plus last night?
  21. Wow, what an atmosphere at Father Ryan last night! Spoke with a few Cane Ridge parents who were extremely friendly and wished them the best of luck the rest of the season! Very disciplined team who had a couple of costly turnovers early in the ball game. Ryan Kicker John Arnold consistently kicked the ball out of the back of the end zone and nailed two 47 yard field goals. Ryan 30 Cane Ridge 7 From the Tennessean... Father Ryan 30, Cane Ridge 7: Rafael Hopkins ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns to lead Father Ryan (2-0) past Cane Ridge (0-2).
  22. Ha, playing in DII picking up a couple of the Titans would have been nice, but I am not sure it would have been enough for the most difficult division to play in the State of Tennessee!!
  23. "In the 61st Clinic Bowl, Overton High School hosts neighboring Father Ryan High School. Last year, Battle Ground Academy managed to hold on to a nail biter, winning 7-6 over near by Franklin High School." What are your predictions for the game on Saturday night?
