They'll be better off without Deuce Knight. He clearly wasn't committed to the school or the program. It's a good group of seniors. Everyone knows that they're great football players. Now they can show what kind of young men they are.
So they were cool with Mawae taking the transfer and letting him play over the projected starter even though he was not committed to the school or program while their guy watched from the sidelines?
Sounds like they have battled through some team chemistry issues.
Lots of football left!

What Division Is UTC Wrestling?
When it comes to college wrestling, understanding the division in which a team competes is crucial. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) wrestling program is no exception. Let’s take a closer look at what division UTC Wrestling competes in and what it means for the team.
The NCAA Division I
UTC Wrestling competes in the NCAA Division I, which is the highest level of collegiate competition in the United States. This division is known for its intense level of competition and high standards. Being part of Division I means that UTC Wrestling goes head-to-head with some of the best wrestling programs across the country.
This division offers student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at a national level. It also provides exposure to top-level coaches and recruiters, increasing their chances of success both during their collegiate career and beyond.
A Member of the Southern Conference
Within Division I, UTC Wrestling is a proud member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The SoCon is a collection of universities and colleges primarily located in the southeastern part of the United States. It consists of ten member institutions, including UTC.
Competing within a conference allows UTC Wrestling to face familiar opponents regularly throughout each season. It fosters regional rivalries, camaraderie among teams, and provides student-athletes with numerous opportunities to test their skills against other top wrestlers within the conference.
Achievements and Recognition
UTC Wrestling has had significant success competing in Division I and within the Southern Conference. The program has earned multiple conference championships over the years, showcasing their dedication to excellence on and off the mat.
- Conference Championships: These victories demonstrate the team’s ability to rise to the occasion and perform at their best during crucial moments.
- Individual Achievements: UTC wrestlers have also earned individual accolades, including All-American honors and NCAA tournament appearances. These achievements highlight the exceptional skills and commitment of the individual athletes.
Conclusion
UTC Wrestling competes in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Southern Conference. This places them among some of the top wrestling programs in the country, offering numerous opportunities for growth and success.
The program’s achievements and recognition further solidify their position as a formidable force within collegiate wrestling. Whether you’re a fan or a student-athlete considering joining UTC Wrestling, this program’s division is undoubtedly one that demands both respect and admiration.

It's pretty simple SportsTNFan. All you have to do is go to a school website and fill out an inquiry form.

https://share.hsforms.com/19XPnOUstQbKowgDrE-O5Nw1sc8s

Thanks, @BobCorker .
Are you saying in this particular example (it can be used with other student-athletes and teams across the state), that the Admissions Team on Monday morning checks their inbox and sees two wrestling All American applications from another TSSAA school. Then they call the Head Coach to surprise him with the news that the two wrestlers and their family randomly decided to apply to the school and program over the weekend?

The staff at DB is 100 percent first class. You couldn’t ask for a better group. Sometimes opportunities open for for kids that have nothing to do with their current coaches. Kingsport is definitely loaded with great coaches between DB and TNWA.
Agreed 100% on the staff at DB and TNWA in East Tennessee! Future is bright for that program!
To your message, NormanDad. When “opportunities open up for the kids,” how does it happen?
In this situation referenced, does a parent call Baylor to see if they can be accepted and be part of the program?
Does a Baylor coach talk to the kid who is already enrolled and on the roster of another TSSAA school? (NCAA references that as “tampering,” but not sure the TSSAA cares)
Does a Baylor Club coach set up the connection and work between the parent and high school?
It looks like the 2023-24 TSSAA season will have a record number of transfers across the state in all different sports.
Just curious how it all plays out. (You can change out the name “Baylor,” and insert a number of schools in this situation this season, especially with the law that was passed for, “Name, Image and Likeness,” in Tennessee)

Did Titus Norman transfer to Baylor as well as Max?
If true, they are also rumored to have another top national kid from Ohio too.

Wow! At one Tournament during the season a coach was telling fans that he thought he would end up at Cleveland.

I agree with you...we still have a lot to prove. My comment was directed at your statement that we don't develop our own talent. We're trying.
Does that also include a couple of kids outside their club that are potentially coming from the Cookeville Wrestling club and boarding next season?

@durdon has posted that McCallie is about to be back competing at a high level in DII. It will be fun to see them and Baylor going at it again!
”There has been a change at McCallie administration and now all sports especially wrestling are getting love again.
McCallie has the best coaching staff in the state with Yost, Pitts, Leavit, Newman and the rest. And now they are loading up with a massive class of freshman that have already said they are coming in and possibly of a few more they still may get.
McCallie is going to be on top again here soon.” - Durdon

That doesn’t sound like taking up for his wrestler. It sounds like crying at a call he didn’t like.
I watched it. It was absolutely the correct call.
Thanks for the response.
I respect your opinion, and did not see the call in question and was appreciative of feedback.

If Coach Knox was actually quoted saying that one of his wrestlers lost due to an official, will he be fined? I know that in college you get fined for complaining publicly about an official.
I do not know the answer, but it looks like he was taking up for one of his wrestlers, so I was curious about the call.
Allan Jones would happily write the check for that fine as they will add to the state championship trophy case again this year.

What happened at 160 with Fowler and McTorry?
2022 medalist Cy Fowler fought back from a loss in the semifinals and will go for a third-place medal against Clarkville's Jack Stein.
“He (Fowler) lost in the semifinals, to an official,” said Knox.

Thanks WG. D2 rankings are interesting. I would move some of the guys around. The glaring one to me is the #3 HWT who didn’t win a match the entire weekend. He was pinned twice, one in regional and one in state. I venture to say it would have been 3 times had he faced the MBA HWT. I am waiting to see how regionals will pan out this weekend.
DII has not been updated since 1/27, so they have not made any changes to their rankings since then.
