  1. No, I know Flatt had some input last time. What I said is " I don't believe Coach Flatt HAS any input".....meaning this time. Believe what you want.
  2. The letter said that the Alumni Council was meeting Monday and they are looking for input on the PROCESS of hiring a new coach. I think they want good solid thoughts on how to go about looking this time......committee, single person and who. They also want thoughts on what a coach for BA needs...attributes, personality, qualifications, working with existing coaching staff etc. Last time it was a one man search. Someone that has no boys and never played football. Don't believe Coach Flatt has any input. Alumni are to send some constructive thoughts to one of those people on the list.
  3. No, I was not taking digs at McCallie at all!!! Sorry it sounded that way. The statements that Potter said in the paper about McCallie making boys into leaders and the values there being more in line with his seemed to be a dig to BA. The more I think about the way my son and the other players have been treated the madder I get. I was merely responding to his quote to the paper. McCallie and their boys are fine people. My son's both have best friends that were there. We are still close to many families although we chose to come here when the time was right.
  4. No, I am not insinuating that McCallie's standards are lower....just trying defend BA's values since Potter seems to think that McCallie is more apt to making boys leaders and the values there are more in line with his. What do you think we thought about what he said? Plus I do know....been in both places.
  5. Don't think so. Wonderful man but had lots of problems calling plays and working with his team at the end. There was a reason MBA let him go. Pack is another arrogant coach. We would be back in the same place. Go Jack Pittman!
  6. Not only a great football player and Captain of that team, he is also President of the Student body.
  7. You are exactly right! These are totally different schools. BA was built on the fundamental belief of raising up kids to the glory of God first. BA has the mission to mentor, nurture, & encourage the whole person..,body,mind and spirit. Those are the families BA attract and coaching those kinds of kids require a different attitude than demeaning & bullying. Have no idea what McCallie values are since they seem to be so different that Potter is more attacked to them to want to go back.
  8. Right. I too am a graduate with sons that played for all three coaches. Unfortunately Potter didn't turn out to be the kind of Coach or leader we were hoping for and I a sorry for that. But he brought all this on himself. What he did to those boys was despicable, even shocking at times. I can't believe what he said to the press about how McCallie attracts young men that have values more like his and they develop young men as leaders. What could their values be there? BA doesn't turn out leaders? I am sure there are many, many "Coach Flatt boys", as Potter called them, that felt like he made them into strong leaders with good moral values. With these kinds of statements he needs to go now! My sons were so glad to hear the news!
  9. There are so many wonderful stories about BA football and how Coach Flatt handled his players. Go get the book!
  10. Amen Brother. Doubt he would come back but there were plenty of good choices on the list that would have been suitable. Ones that played and coached under him. Ones that know how to coach as well as care, encourage and motivate their players like he did.
  11. Of course they looked down. There is no encouragement at BA anymore. They only play for themselves. I don't think it has anything to do with youth. Look back over the last 5 years.
  12. It is actually the 5th year in a row. BA went to state 07 & 08 with losses. It will now be 3 years in a row they haven't even made it to the Championship game. That is unheard of in the history of BA football. It's funny to think back to what a coach said just a few years back, maybe only 2 years after winning the 10th championship in a relatively short existence,....."BA hasn't been a power House football team in 10 years."
  13. There are many different coaching styles one with fear, intimidation, "tearing the house down" and then there is one with fear, instruction & motivation and building up. This years is not BA football. More later.
  14. I can't believe you say there was no heart in last year's team. They were a strong team and worked as hard as they could considering the coaching change and a way too young and inexperienced quarterback. The year before that they won the state.I can't believe anyone would have thought they would be better than the '07 team. Of course this years team has no heart. They have been bullied and humilated and brought down everyday since the first day of two a days and they have had a hard time picking theirselves back up. No teenage boy can be expected to move forward strongly without ever getting a pat on the back. Your bickering back and forth is getting tiresome and I really don't think either of you knows what is really going on.
  15. Last year's senior class was an exceptional group of leaders, all 19 or them. They were still "Carlton Flatt boys". Yes, there are some weaknesses or "taking plays off this year. But there is also a big difference in coaching with motivation and buiding up than with humilation and "tearing the house down".
