  1. Owlbooster I appreciate you apologizing for me, but the fact is that some are pretty sensitize if they think anything I said wasn't "classy". People said that MUS played a soft schedule all year, and I took exception with that bc I know that is patently false. To me it is an instance of your team won, I look like I might be wrong, so I'm going to accuse you of not being classy bc that's about all I've got right now. As an Ole Miss fan I know pretty well the "your fans aren't classy" card. I think it is pretty weak in this instance when you consider what I said and as acknowledged what some BA and MBA fans say in threads. When you are undefeated and still ranked below one loss teams and teams that have never done anything but win regular season games against MTN teams its ok to feel slighted and tell people that you don't think that is accurate. Then the same people tell you the reason you are considered below those teams in the regular season is bc you played a soft schedule. How is your schedule soft? Well bc you are from West TN of course. I think thats a pretty accurate description of how things were laid out to me. Forget that one or two posters said that they respected MUS etc. As I told those one or two posters I appreciate that and nothing I say is directed to you and I think MBA and BA are outstanding football programs. I think I still reserve the right to say what is obvious that MUS '08 is one of the dominant teams in DII history. Anything else about me trying to be a martyr or not being classy is just sour grapes IMO. I tried to discuss football and didn't say anything that wasn't true and didn't try to run anybody down (except Ensworth a little and I think there are plenty of MBA and BA fans that have let Ensworth get under their skin). I have consistently been very respectful towards BA and MBA's football programs. And actually I'm in the 5th grade at PDS so I hope one day I will be lucky enough to play for the Owls.
  2. 3yards, you dogged MUS' schedule this year. I am glad that you picked MUS all year like I did. See? We really do have something in common.
  3. I'm not really sure what I am saying that isn't classy. I have consistently acknowledged that BA and MBA historically rank ahead of MUS in terms of alltime accomplishments. I have also taken exception with the fact that some have said that we didn't play a tough schedule. I think some people just don't like the fact that the trophy is coming back to West TN. All I have been saying in all these threads is that MUS is really, really good. I'm sorry if thats not classy. It's like you people take exception with the fact that MUS has a dominant football team and someone is saying it out loud.
  4. 3yards, you didn't say that until we steamrolled the playoffs. Before that I am pretty sure it was the same old same old SOS argument as to why MUS should not be favored over MBA and BA. But you can use revisionist history all you want tonight. I know you respect us now, bc you don't really have a choice but to acknowledge our accomplishments.
  5. I'm sorry I just heard that MUS was inferior all year based solely on the fact that they were from West TN. My whole point in both threads has been that that logic is patently ridiculous. MUS has beaten thoroughly every Middle TN team, there is that better. I didnt say anything that wasnt true and didnt try to twist the knife. It is pretty much a fact that this year MUS has run the Middle TN DII teams off the field. Historically MBA has been the best DII team and MUS still has a way to go to match the number of state titles MBA has even though MUS has a solid head to head record. BA has also ruined several of MUS' potential dream seasons. But not this one. MBA and BA fans ran their mouthes a lot worse than using synonyms that MBA/BA fans may not like to describe the way that MUS beat them by very convincing margin in those years. This is MUS' year and one of the most dominant in DII history right up there with the classic MBA teams. It would be a pleasure to watch 99 MBA play 08 MUS.
  6. MUS has won 3 state championships in 5 years. Ensworth has never accomplished anything but win some regular season games and have a bunch of delusional fans who fuel their hype machine. Maybe Ensworth can piece together their overhyped, overrated team and get a shot at MUS next year...thats right for Ensworth its next year bc they couldnt cut it against a bad team in your own words.
  7. You have no idea what you are talking about with the Melrose game. Google Melrose football and house fire and see the emotion those boys were playing with. It was also the first game of the season.
  8. If BA is such a bad team and Ensworth lost to them what does it say about Ensworth. MUS is forcing all these turnovers. They are so far beating the class of the Middle Tn playoffs by a combined score of 66-7. Ensworth would have gotten run off the field with the rest of them.
  9. MUS would have owned Ensworth just like all the other Nashville teams.
  10. MUS can't be the best team in the state. They are from West Tennessee. RUSHING No. Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg. Tate, Joshua 13 81 6 75 0 18 5.8 What about Tate? Looks like he is playing to me.
  11. THSSN.net will be broadcasting it over the web for $4.99.
  12. I think the only place MUS doesn't look "impressive" is the Dline. However, in the 3-3-5 scheme they run the Dline only has to play their assignments and let the LBs and S clean up. MUS has had some really impressive LBs, a couple who play in the SEC, and I don't think this year is any different. The back 8 for MUS tackles really well and has speed to burn.
  13. I don't think any player for MUS is taking BA lightly. MUS is better than MBA. If you want to watch the game and see for yourself musowls.org watch the game by clicking on the link. You can argue how much better, but they pretty much whooped them. In the BGA game MUS muffed 2 punts in the first half. As a rival fan said after the game it takes a lot to win a game in which you lose two muffed punts much less still blow the other team out. Im sure that BA has a nice team, but when a 4 loss team plays an undefeated team that many think is the best overall in the state then the four loss team is going to be a pretty heavy underdog.
  14. One more tough one to go for the Owls.
  15. The only way MUS loses is if they turn the ball over a lot more than BA. MUS puts the ball on the ground a lot, but they also take the ball away on defense. BA has to win the turnover margin by at least 2 to win. I think MUS will have a couple turnovers and get a couple too. MUS 24 BA 14
  16. I have not seen Jefferson play, but Brunetti is the best player on the best team in TN. Brunetti is the best player to come out of TN in the last couple years.
  17. If you go to musowls.org there is a link to a replay of the MBA/MUS game. After watching the game I will say that the teams obviously were a lot closer in talent than the score. However, MBA just made way too many mistakes that good teams can't make. MUS had some big plays that make it hard to blame it all on turnovers though. Brunetti and McBride will both be back next year which is a lot of speed in the backfield. Again, I want to apologize to all the MBA fans who don't think some MUS fans are being classy. As I have said, I think of it has a lot to do with the fact that the best team in Memphis and maybe TN can't get any respect until they spank MBA, BA, or Ensworth.
  18. I'm sorry if my post wasn't "classy." It wasn't my intention to disrespect MBA in anyway. MBA is the most successful team in the history of the division. I'm sorry of anything I said came across that way. But what I do have a problem with is the fact that an undefeated, #1 ranked team in the Memphis area can't get any national respect. They can't even get any respect in the state going up to this game bc of a perceived weakness in their schedule. The problem I have with that is that I know MUS will play any team anywhere except for South Panola. I know the MBA fans have been courteous and said they didn't feel that way, and I appreciate that. I am not directing anything at such a fine football program. But for the #1 team in Memphis to be ranked 50-100 spots below MBA in pretty much every single poll just bc they are from West TN is pretty ridiculous. I hope they proved some of that tonight.
  19. Don't believe the hype. MUS is an overrated West TN team that has beat up on a weak schedule. I think that the underdog role serves them well. I'm sorry for being sarcastic, but it was pretty hard to get on here and read people discounting MUS' schedule when I watched them beat Olive Branch.
  20. 3yards, You have done a whole lot of schedule posting to show basically what I meant by saying that MUS has had a very tough schedule. Basically, there isn't much difference in the two schedules. Therefore, shouldn't the undefeated team get a little more respect instead of a lot less respect than the other team? I know that MBA fans keep saying they don't know who is making MUS the underdog, but it is out there. MUS is rated significantly below MBA in pretty much every poll. My point in stating that MUS won it in 2004 and 2005 is that there shouldn't be the Middle TN vs. West TN bias when it concerns MUS. They have proven that they can handle teams from Middle TN just like they can handle the West TN teams. And how can anyone get on here and argue the margin of victory against CBHS as showing anything? It is MUS' biggest rivalry game on the road a week after they beat nationally ranked Olive Branch who has a D1 size team. There are many who think this is the best team that MUS has ever had. I'm not going to argue with that. This team might not have the D1 offensive lineman and linebackers that the 2004 and 2005 teams had, but the QB and 3 RBs are as explosive a group as there is in the state.
  21. I would say MUS is considered the underdog because they are ranked below MBA in every poll I have seen this year even though MUS is undefeated and has played a very tough schedule.
  22. MUS won the state title in 2004 and 2005 so it is a little curious why they are considered the "underdogs" to win it. MUS beat Olive Branch who needs no introduction. The Commercial Appeal is the only place that has given MUS any credit. This should be a great game though. I believe it is at least the 4th time MBA and MUS have met in the semis in the last 8 years so there should be a lot of familiarity. If the QB for MUS can take care of the ball they will win. His name is Barry Brunetti and he will be one of the top recruits in the country next year as an athlete. He is pretty much superman except he is prone to making some pretty poor decisions. MUS uses him very similar to Vince Young in running the zone read about 25 % of their plays.
