  1. Rankin's own words about the punt play was "you can't just touch it"you have to hold it down until the official blows it dead,he just slapped at it,and our guy was smart enough to pick it up and run it in.I guess someone on the Tribe's side thought he touched the ball down.DB had 317 to 160 yards for the game but not the stat that counts. What was Joe doing returning a punt for Riverdale on that play to begain with.

Joe was trying to return punt for DB.RiverDale took it to the house when it wasn't downed. What was

Joe doing back there to begin with, good question? Playoffs!

  2. I dont remember anyone touching it or downing it i remember it being like a 10 or 20 yard punt that bounced back towards the line of scrimmage and everyone getting away from it then Perkins just grabs it and runs it in

Nobody touched it,that was the problem.Joe Ervin was back there for some reason, and he did not regularly return punts. He watched it rolled and didn't down the ball.End of story.

  3. Batman-

In fact there is some similarity. That loss featured a kick-off (or punt return) for a TD at the end of the game. The year when Coty Sensabaug was a SR featured DB missing a FG that would have won the game.

When we played Riverdale, we mis-played a punt that resulted in a TD for Riverdale.

Special team mistakes have been a killer for The Tribe in the playoffs.

How many team that we were clearly better than have we lost to in the playoffs? Whatever the number, it is happening entirely too frequently!

Good post. From what I have heard most people see it the same as you.Not mentality prepared as Barb said has a lot do with it,along with play calling in the playoffs, has been a killer for DB.Time for a change.

  4. I agree to a certain extent. There are other players on that team but the QB BY FAR is the playmaker (with his feet not his arm) and will more than likely lead the team in rushing yards by the end of the season... and the coaches obviously realize that. But they do need to spread the ball around to try to generate some other form of offense. Otherwise they won't be able to move the ball AT ALL on some of the better teams that are in the BIG 8. No disrespect... I just call it like I see it.

Good post Cap.People who were at the DB vs Sevier Co. game last

night, said DB moved the ball around with thier play makers so much

that the bears didn't know who had the ball.Sensabaugh was covered

and tackled all night. That left the QB and other backs open.Good

    stragety and play calling.

South's QB is a player, but they need to get the other backs

involved in the game more IMO.

  5. I think, no wait, i know my list is complete. All the people i mentioned are receivers as well as runners. Swafford has great hands, as well as, Cannon, Derrick and Sensabaugh is a huge threat coming from the fullback position. I'm not calling Rusty out, but he is not a one play scoring threat. Therefore he is better served to block, not receive. But, as you know in the past when the game was on the line and we had a huge big time receiver, the ball did'nt go to him, it went to Rusty. And, the rest is history. We need Rusty on defense, where he is strong. We don't need him running down the field on offense gettting wore out for nothing. Defense is his strong point. Sorry Batman, but you know that to be the truth regardless whether you will admit it on here for all to read. Roll Tribe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem to be on track with your post 91.Hope the Fab 5 stay heathly.

Good luck to DB.The talent is there.

  6. I said when it was first mentioned, that S.Carter would bolt to the Hill cause its a money thing, just like Kiffin did. Can't blame him.SH will rise to the top now.Clark at DB has to be worried. The one and done King is probably already looking for a new playbook.

As far as the post about glory, blood and guts,I'm with the guy that said, thats a BS post, how true that is.It is only HS football, not the civil war or any other war.

  7. White Station's QB and his offense was nothing short of a circus act. Good grief...I thought Fran Tarkenton was long forgotten. Maryville had no defense whatsoever. How can you be in the state title game with a D that bad. I was pulling for Maryville. And being from Sulivan South I was in awe for the 54 on the back of their helmets. Thanks for the respect GQ.

I will agree with statement.I think THS and South could have played with White Station.WS QB

should of been sacked a dozen times by a good defense.Maryvilles QB did look good.

Tough loss for Greenville. They R lucky they didn't move up in classes.

  8. I don't know if coach Carter is staying or not,but I think he has done great things at South and wish him the best either way.I wouldn't want to see him at Science Hill with all the talent that get's wasted over there,it would be bad for a lot of people in this conference.I doubt that a washington county team would ever beat them again and Science Hill would probably break the streak to us in a short time.

I guess winning against a lesser qualified opponent is enough of a satisfying philosophy for you?

I really don't think your "us" mention is speaking from a Dobyns-Bennett standpoint, much less for anyone who has pride in their program and wants to be the best.

To be the best you have to beat the best. Not just the best that this conf offers.

Good post PD. Batman has spoke for the Tribe clan all year, why stop now.

  9. I am sure Coach Carter wants to be at Science Hill, as he indicated when it was last open three years ago. The concern for many is to WHY?

Why would a very popular coach leave his ALMA MATER, his dream job? This has to be a red flag. Is he afraid of the talent running dry at South and wants to jump to a seemingly more talented future Science Hill team? What if the talent "runs dry at Science Hill", where would he want to go next?

Suitcase Stacy figures he has a better chance beating DB at Science Hill than at his ALMA MATER South.

Suitcase Stacy would say that he lives closer to JC and he does not need any money as he is set financially, but HE IS A SULLIVAN SOUTH BOY AND HE WANTS TO LEAVE HIS SCHOOL!!! RED FLAG........

It is called MONEY.The bigger schools have more MONEY.SC would be a good SH coach. But

no way would he make it at ETSU.The talent that he has had at South has carried him.

Same thing with Stubbs@THS,Clark@DB and SC@South,they don't prepare and get the teams

up for the competition, from one game to another. There is a big difference in getting outplayed

    and out coached.

  10. You gotta get the kids out to play. Need as many on the sidelines as Morristown West. The middle school programs are doing real well from what I understand. How can you make that translate to high school. Is Rider and the other coaches going to these games. Do they encourage both Surgoinsville and Church Hill TOGETHER after their 8th grade contest? Not as many kids transfer to D-B anymore, do they? The Falcons do have allot stacked against them to start. Having to play DB, SH, TH, SS, Boone in conference. That's murder's row for a team trying to find it's identity. And Cherokee will always be a battle as you well know.

I say give the coach a chance. Extend some grace. There have been something like 100 coaches there since 1981. Need some time and need to quit changing horses midstream. I for one would truly like to see Volunteer having a winning record and contending for playoff every year. Not sure what it wil take to get headed in that direction. That's the 10,000 dollar question I guess (where's Niswonger when you need the answer?! HA!). You guys have got 10 times the AD that D-B has already. Let me ask this honest question. Are the kids in the weight room and working on routes, year round? All the kids? Are they encouraged to participate on the track team? It helps. I was talking to a buddy who was telling me how South had went 0-10 before Carter and his bunch got there. That's hard to comprehend now. They condition and work hard all year. I'm not a South homer, just an observation of a rags to riches program.

    Good luck in 2010 Falcons!

Man to be a mid-state transplant,u sur know alot about Volunteer and South. :roflol:

Rider is a good coach from what I have heard. The trouble @ Volunteer is they

don't have the talent, year in and out. Alot of kids don't go out for the sports.

Combine Cherokee and Volunteer and they would be alot better. The only thing

that matters to them is beating DB anyway. I know some good players who are

walking the hallways.Get them on the field. :roflol:

  11. Stacy Carter at Sullivan South may be on a very short list of potential replacements.... Smith is gone, no way the Toppers keep him around another year. I hope they do though.

Just a Indian jacka$$ running off at the mouth...maybe they can get Graham Clark after these back stabbing dedicated Indian fans run him out of town...as for Stacy he's happy right where he's at...but who knows money talk's.Good luck Topper fan's you deserve the best. :popcorneater:

Man this post sounds alot like WildCat. :thumb:

  12. What a game. I could tell from the start that the Vikings weren't firing

on all cylinders.THS just seem out of sync.Hold your head high Vikings,

you had a good year. Hats off to Boone, they came to play this time.

They got the pressure on Harmon tonight, that was a difference than

the last game. That last drive for Boone showed a lot of intensity.

You guys have a good team.Hope you show South this time around.

    Good luck.

  13. I just talked to my Lawyer and he said that I actually owned all of Sullivan South High School. So next week Im going to get rid of that trailer park out front and fill in that big sink-hole. I wish I could figure out how to move those nice concrete bleachers to DB so you Rebels would have a good place to sit to watch next years slaughter.

    Never Forget! 44-0

:D:D Stop it WaCo ur killing me. :thumb::D Trailor Park-- sink hole :thumb:

  14. Sorry guys, I meant to set this up for you last Monday. Thoughts, suggestions from wannabe coaches such as waco and db71 would be appreciated by GC. :thumb:

Just a reminder to those DB fans that don't keep up, "w1ldcat" is a "DB Hater". This thread is more than likely a place to make fun of DB rather than take suggestions or thoughts. Might have known Batman would of fell for it.

There is already a real thread started on DB football.

Then your 100% incorrect.I thought for Wildcat to start this thread and then to say he meant to start it last week was the coldest thing he has wrote about DB in a while.

Making fun of Buck Van Huss is pretty cold, I think,He did it last year also.

WaCo all U have to do is go back and read some of the last posts on the

other DB thread and U can tell which South fan Wildcat is. I'm not even a Indian

fan, but I can that thru that eastmanite dust. :thumb:

  15. Just let me set the record straight for these last two posters (Idiot South Fans)

To start with DON'T ever try to put yourselves on any kind of even plain with Dobyns Bennett football. You know nothing about what DB can or can't do on the football field either past, present, or future. To remind everyone or your ignorance, every year the both of you (Volman & Compukestat) start running your mouth 2 months before the season starts about how great your team is and how bad your going to beat DB. And every year you lose and lose big. Last year you couldn't wait to get a piece of Maryville in the playoffs. I remember it well. You know nothing about Maryville or DB. Nothing. I don't know why you and a handful of Tennessee High fans think it is nessarry to come on CoachT to try and convince people that Maryville has been knocking you out of winning state championships when to my knowledge you have only made it far enough to even play Maryville "1" time each.

It would take a fool to ever say you can or you will beat Maryville on the football field. That is true for ANY high school in the state. But I think DB in most years would play toe to toe with Maryville and be in the game in the final minutes with a chance to win. You can do score comparesons over the years to give you some ideal. Im not going to sugar coat it, this DB team of 2009 was the worst team we've had in the past 30 years and in some areas such as pride and dedication probably the worst in school history. And thats why the got beat so bad by Maryville. And yes help is on the way. We have some very fine players coming back Jr's, Soph's, & Frosh. I won't make any predictions about beating Maryville, Oak Ridge, Farragut etc. but I do believe we'll keep adding to our 17 yr. win streak over South and start a new 10 yr. win streak over Tennessee High. NOW YOU KNOW!

Way to go WACOJACO How original compukestat :roflolk: Too bad DB doesnt have an

administrator on coacht like South does to delete whatever post they want to. Some of us THS

fans respect DB and its INDIAN PRIDE.

  16. As A Neutral party who just wanted to watch some Friday Night Football.I traveled to Bristol to see the undefeated Vikings play.I must admit the Castle is an awesome place to watch A game.I know there was much talk last night and some on here on how the Officiating went.Well the paper had THS 15 for 130 and Seymour 5 for 41 penalty's and penalty yards. And 3 of Seymours flags were dropped in the last 2 minutes of the game.Where I was sitting on the 20 yard line which I have A great pictue in my mind the THS running back stepped out at the 18 getting the first down, the Ref marked it back to the 21 bringing up 4th down. Now with all honesty there are many more plays that should be reviewed with game film by the TSSAA.I realize Game Film will be all that's important to the TSSAA.But you never know A local reporter might want to do A story in the paper. But lets face it in VHSL and TSSAA they have opened the playoffs to teams with 1-9 records 2-8 and 3-7 and 4-6.Lets all have a reality check here, these teams objectives are simple. If we can't beat you on talent,if we make you angry enough we may get you tossed from the game.So first of all the TSSAA need to completely revamp there playoff system again along with the VHSL.Because late hits, Horse collar Takling, Officals from different Regions could have serious impact on the No 1 and 2 seeded teams.Even Like THS who hung in there for the win last night, there players were at great risk for injury especially after I witnessed the Hit on THS safety after the play was whisteled dead. Then NO 66 for Seymour was ejected from the game for his Misconduct, then later they tried to run him back in the game.I know the rules well enough right there the game was over.I'm sure after further review that will be stated.I am very happy to see the best team won and there Defense made sure of that. After seeing there Offense get every Illegal Motion, holding,Delay of game penalty's one could imagine. The Defense stepped up and said no one will take this from us.And wow did they step up.The truth is this game should be reviewed so it never happens again. And if they do find fault in the Officiating, then strong statements need to be sent. And for the Ineligible player the coach tried to run back in that film will show, that could lead to A suspension for the next season. Not just for the player but the Coach as well because the Officials didn't call the game when it happened. In all honesty THS was 60 points better than there opponents last night even though the Final score was like 37-7 and the last score by seymour against THS (2nd and 3rd Team)the player went out of bounds and fumbled before reaching the goal line.Once again the official film will show. So to sum up my story unless your 5-5 or better along with the rating system you shouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.Every other state has 3 play-off games then a State Championship.I think with the new TSSAA playoff you have 4 and A state championship.I think you eliminate that first game you will have much better football, less injury and just all around better playing and I think the true Champions will imerge in Each Division. The way it is now anything could happen and someone could get injured to A team who was 1-9?Does the NO 1 and 2 seeds in each division really deserve that? I think they earned there spots and it should be respected.I realize upsets are a part of every sport but let it be that and not misguided play.

Great post. Everything that you said IMO is true.I hope that TSSAA does review last nights

game. The officials probably were from the SEC. Hope the Vikings can stay healthy and dodge

some of the flags in the play-offs.

  17. Hey Starsnbars, I thought you promised to make it a "little closer" for this game. Man, you left us lying in the dust!

DB proved what everbody already knew,CS is all they have had all year.Without

him they were doomed to a goose egg. 3 picks didn't help much.Tough night for

the few DB seniors to go out on. It seems DB has lost the intensity its teams

use to have, even in a down year. Good luck next year.

  18. Play the tuba boys!!!! One and Done, One and Done. :D:D:D

You all may not like Cap1 but he's speaking the truth. DB fans have said over the past few years how Maryville wouldn't be winning those championships at a higher level and how DB has always played Maryville tough in scrimmages. Just look at the earlier post with the moron saying that DB would have beaten them in the scrimmage if not for the turnovers. Well, now you get your shot and you want to play nice with the Maryville people because you know you are coming home with an L.

And Huck Van Buss is still my favorite basketball coach of all time. :thumb:

After the way your team South ,played against The Vikings,I would say U R

the one playing the tuba. :D Get off the eastmanite dust goofy.
