End of year 1 for Portland = 0-10. C-ya at the end of next year with an update!

Congrats to both teams on a hard fought battle tonight. Everybody sure got their $'s worth at this one. The scoring was higher than most of us predicted. Good luck the rest of the season.

I'm just saying even HE couldn't win a game here anymore. He was the greatest coach Portland has had but couldn't do better than 3rd or 4th in the region EVEN IN 3A the last few years he was here. Go back and look at the teams Portland was playing back then. The man did the best he could with what he had. He saw the writing on the wall and that's why he's gone.

I would like to comment on some of the posts made on this thread. And no, I am not a current nor a former coach. First, I believe that Portland FANS did put a W on the Greenbrier game before the season started. However, they also expected a win over Greenwood which obviously didn't happen so some of them may have changed their minds by now. Second, gunright01 has a ridiculous obsession that everyone who posts about the Panthers must be former coach. HE has not made sense by originally posting in support of Portland and now suddenly turning on them which makes me think that he is the one trying to get bulletin board material to fire up his players. But that can't be right since Portland coaches and players NEVER read this site because it is "poisonous" (per the Portland leader dude). :lol: Third, Roger Perry is a GREAT football coach but not a miracle worker. If you think he would consider coming back to PTown, you're smokin' something. He's also a very insightful man. Why do you think he left in the first place?!! Fourth, Bobcats 21, Panthers 7.

Look pantherfan 2000 used to be a coach at portland so excuse him along with squatman and footbal fanatic09. They are just talking alot of smack i know for a fact that they coached at Portland ive been a panther fan my whole life so i will apologise for them. You're kidding right? PTown is averaging 1 point per game, thanks to the Devils' bumbled snap. This was the year they should have beaten a young White House but lost 32-2 while "playing hard". I know SC only scored a field goal last week, but they were up against a very tough Siegel team and SC is pretty young this year. Despite the Panthers' returning starters, they just can't seem to get it together. I'll go with the Bison 21-3.

Dude, get a clue. This site is a joke. There are NO Panther fans on here. You, however, are a current Portland coach. It seems a little unethical for you to even be posting on here. You need to focus on getting your team ready for Friday night instead of posting on a website. You would think you would be a little more optimistic about your team, too.

Finally! Portland has been using the "inexperience" excuse for the past 3 years! At some point you have experience. I guess this is the year. Larrybird, you're a good man! I guarantee that nobody from Portland wants White House to win at anything EVER! If they say they do, they're not being honest. Portland people get mad at locals who wear blue.

Gee, Seymour, take a chill pill. No need to take this so personally. How is my asking your thoughts on what went wrong this year "rubbing it in your face"? I am simply opening the post season up for discussion just like you started a topic on the improvement of phs baseball. Do you agree with Chalktalk that the talent level is down or with 9-holebomber that there was no unity on the team? Since you are graduating, maybe you could be a leader and shed some light on what changes could be made for next year's players. Thanks, Big Man!

So now that the Panther baseball season is over, what do you think went wrong? New coach, returning starters (mostly seniors)... the ingredients were there but only won 3 games total and 0 in the district. People seemed so optimistic about this year. What happened? Seymourbutts, what are your thoughts?

Seymour, you are actually proving my point. Nobody is questioning that you guys work really hard, are talented, and have a great coaching staff. Do you not believe the basketball team worked hard, had talent, and good coaches? Heck, you were their #1 fan. But they still only won 7 games and couldn??™t advance in the district playoffs. You guys lost 7-1 to a team YOU predicted would finish last in the district. This is becoming a trend in Portland in all the major sports at the high school level. I am not bashing, I am simply stating facts. It seems like everything should be in place for success. You state that the players are beginning to buy in. Buy in to what? The basic fundamentals of baseball? How is Coach Parker??™s philosophy different from Coach Thompson??™s? Aren??™t most of you guys are returning starters? What is the missing ingredient? Mikesimpson if you are going to make such an accusation, I believe you should back it up with facts. What players, in particular, do you believe should be playing and are not due to their lack of family connections or ???kissing up??? to Jimmy Parker? Just curious.
