  1. hhmmmm......East played 11 deep against Farragut and 21 deep against west greene but they still played to win i dont get the didnt play to win thing A quick and neutral observation I stayed and watched the Farragut vs. Morristown East game and I think Morristown east probably had about 40 team fouls for the game, however the format of the scrimmage has foul shots only shot in the last minute. The officials seemed to get tired of constantly calling fouls. I would think playing to get better is different than playing to win in a scrimmage, Its probably not great for a team to hack and smack and grab in a scrimmage just because the officials arent calling it because its a scrimmage, yeah you will win that game, but what will happen in the regular season. Bearden never cares if it wins scrimmages or not..we play a lot of people and try to get them read for the season and the girls seem to play the same no matter the scrimmage format
  2. It is hard to simulate game pressure in practice, but coaches can get their players there by making drills competitive and giving consequences for missing goals, that way if you miss a layup in a drill then you have let your teammates down and there is now some built in pressure in practice. Once again i have no idea what catholic does, just making general coaching conversation.
  3. This is totally off the subject of catholic and their coach....Isn't coaching more about X's and O's and teaching/running plays...I once had a coach that taught me how to make lay-ups in games under pressure and how avoid turning the ball over, just a general observation about coaching and not a reflection on catholic's coach (i have no idea what he does in practice and have only seen them play once)
  4. I don't really know anything about the coaching....i was just making an observation about previous records and the struggles of the program. I totally agree with you, Coaching can have no effect on making lay-ups or preventing turning the ball over.....or can it?
  5. Has the talent really dropped up very much from the days when they were competitive in district? Didn't they almost beat Loudon in the Region a couple of years ago? I have watched a couple of games this year and it wasn't pretty. How is CAK competitive and Catholic isn't?
  6. I think the girls play amazing every game. However, there have been some things that i feel don't represent the program well. I didn't agree with playing JV during the jamboree. I also think that a coach should set a good example to his or her players and be above jeering and trash talking with high school student's.
  7. What is wrong with our coach? Following tonights Farragut game...he goes over and starts heckling the Farragut student section as he is walking out with his team. Why spoil a great district win over our biggest rival by looking immature and arrogant.
  8. Resting for a Thursday night game is a terrible excuse...its 4 minutes of running. It gives Bearden a bad image to other teams and fans in the area....like they are "too good" to play in the jamboree.
  9. I totally agree, that was ridiculous. Fearing fatigue can't be an issue because they could have played just 4 minutes, and most of the seniors were there watching the game anyway. Plenty of the teams from last night are playing tough Hall of Fame games tonight and Bearden was the only team to bring their JV and not play their varsity at all. Terrible!! I feel bad for the players and embarrassed for the coaching staff.
