May i ask why he is going to Vandy?

I know he may get playing time his freshman year there, but still if he is Mr. Great he could get playing time anywhere in the country as a freshman.

Not a good coach, but congrats to him he seems like a good man, but not a good coach just a lotta talent year in year out at ole bearden high school

I wanna see what he would do with a team like Clinton or South Doyle someone thats not loaded with talent... you cant say someone is a good coach who loses in a high school state tournament with a college basketball team. (that bearden team 4 5 D1 players right?). If Bearden ever has a team that is just an average team talent wise and mr blevins can still win a substantail amount of ball games then i will say he is a good coach, but until that day i will not.

You cant base good coaching on someones record because Beardens basketball program is always on top it is never down.

But a lot of these players can help themselves by getting family members to make highlight films of them. They can even go to Prepchamps.com and get some reps there. I've told a lot of people about that site and a lot of them are getting looks from colleges because of that.

o that site sounds pretty cool thats good u telliin ppl definately need to tell ppl about it cuz looks like some coaches around here dont do much helping out with the recruiting process.

Yeah i agree they can help themselves thats what i had to do to get there, but from personal experience i know i couldve ended up somewhere better if my coach wouldve helped, but im not complaining though cause im transferiring out and everything is gonna end up good... but I mean thats your job as a coach though to get your players to the next level and not only the next level but the best they can play at at the next level and i think the only way you can do that is if your coach gets involved and makes some phone calls... sends some film... send some emails whatever needs to be done.

I swear coach ogan from powell and coach mitchell are just alike besides mitchell may be a better coach when it comes to the coaching part lol.

It just seems like the same things happen such as Jason Seymore in 2007-2008 when he was arguably the best player in the KIL... Jason should have played mid-major D1, but because the coach wouldnt help him when schools called about him like when West Virginia called Ogan he told him they were wasting there time to make a drive down to watch him... thats not right so he ended up at King College. and Mitchell does the same crap from what i hear with the Jones boys being the most recent not saying they shouldve went somewhere like Seymore couldve gone cause theyre not as good of players as he was, but im just saying the are solid ball players and deserve to be at the best place they can be.

I mean i dont know Mitchell personally he may be a cool dude, i just think he needs to start helpin out a lil bit not trying to make ya mad or anything turtle.

Uh let me say this... All of Brandon's uncles, aunts, older cousins, etc added AE and they tried to talk Brandon out leaving but at the same time they encouraged him to make his own decision on what's best for him. In 2 years he'll be face with a similar decision by picking which college he wants to attend. So this decision was solely Brandon's and no one else. Well, let me take that back his mom probably had a say so as well. But I'm sure if the opportunity wasn't there for Brandon, he would still be at AE. He loves the AE program but this is a dream come true, I mean if OAK HILL would've called or accepted him I'm sure he would've went there. But he's going to a Christian Prep School, that's GOD's doing there.. I'm excited for Brandon and I've already told him that.

Im glad he is getting out of AE now... I heard there coach is horrible and he snubbed chance and chase jones in the recruiting process and he wont help with getting his players to the best place they can play... Please get that coach out of there i hate these old school coaches like Ogan and Mitchell that believe "if your good enough the colleges will find you" that is the biggest bull i have ever heard in my life thats not the way it works if your name isnt out there they cant find u! and dont try to tell me im wrong i heard from a family member of chase and chance not gonna mention who but... its the truth.

Well, let's talk about Jody Wright.. He's been at Fulton for over 20 something years and he's just now getting his first gold ball last year.. Does that make him a good coach since its taken him a very long time to win won? Like you said feartheever, someday AE will be celebrating with the GOLD BALL.... However, I'll be the first to admit, it won't be next year.. AE will be down next year. We'll get to see how good of a coach mitchell really is.. I'm trying to tell yall people Mitchell can coach but we'll find out next year if my statements are true about Mitchell.

 

Like I stated in my opinion, I think AE will be down but don't tell AE or Mitchell that because they're going to shock me and other naysayers

Mitchell has been there too long hes had his time he needs to get out and get something fresh and new in there just like ogan does at powell theyve both been coaching since the 50s lol.

and blevins will never ever in a million years when a state championship because he will never have a team as good as the one he had this year! NEVER

don't underestimate the Bulldogs...Blevins will have them ready by next year. Doesn't look like AE will have their studs back either

About the pro am league this summer??? if you see it let me know cuz i dont see it on this end... Someone explain.

College players need to make sure they clear the eligibilty for this with their ADs. NCAA requires that these leagues be sanctioned in order to maintain integrity. All the coaches in the Rocky Top League are required to pass NCAA Certification tests for that reason. One of the initial coaches for the RTL was rejected by the NCAA.

Fulton is very lucky that BTW didn't press them the entire game.....They (BTW) score 21 points through three quarters and score 35-36 in the 4th qtr alone??...

 

Fulton has a real good team though....Steele is very smooth and Boyd is real good at driving and finishing around the basket....I was impressed again with James Gallman.....

 

I like #24 McGhaughey's game for BTW....He suffers from the same problem as Buckner from Manasass though..He has a bad attitude....I will say after he got his cage rattled by Reggie Garrett early in the game he settled down some....

 

What a comeback by BTW though....You have to tip your hat to them for making a game of it...They didn't quit and was just another turnover or missed free throw from coming all the way back....I don't think BTW ever led in the game...After 7 qtrs of pretty bad basketball on Saturday, BTW finally woke me up enough to be interested in a game with that rally....Credit Fulton for hitting those last free throws in a row...The Falcons were going to get beat had they not hit those....

 

Congrats on those Back-to Back State Titles.....

If you wanna do the luck thing then BTW is lucky fulton didnt blow them the gym when they had that big lead! lol just say congrats to Fulton for another state title.

Thsi is an elite basketball league that is played in Knoxville, TN it is for anybody in the southeast. This league is for college players, former players, top high school players, and above average adult league teams.

I have no dog in the fight but, if Fulton had some 6'9 or 6'7 players, they would/could beat Bearden. Fulton has a pretty good team and they play really good defense. Coach Wright does a good job over in North Knoxville. Tell the Memphis teams to come to Fulton or Knoxville and play them. After all they are 2 time state champs.

lol exactly the state champs dont have to travel anywhere bring your memphis boys to k town and play... and yes Jody Wright is an outstanding coach!

Not trying to spark an argument but Coach Ogan from Powell is a great coach. He was down this year, but he'll be back. Powell had Hanson (a really good PG) but he did not have much around him. However he had a really talented freshman class so they'll be back. I don't know much about Blevins, but subbing 5 at a time is a bit much. During the season that's fine but at tournament time you need your 5 best players on the floor and I'm sure Simpson, Jenkins, Craig and Parker are, well were 4 of his best 5. Who will Bearden have back next year? (Other than Fair)

No No No you havent played for him, and you dont know the players that did play for him you dont see what goes on behind the scenes. Hanson is a friend of mine and he almost quit the team this year because ogan doesnt know what he is doing.

Take it from me i kno man, i could tell you some stuff about ogans coaching that would absolutely blow you away and if you want me to just ask me ill fill you with knowledge and facts about why hes not a good coach??? ask any former player or fan in the past 10 years. Just remember what he did to that team last year.

Ogan will not help you get to college he said, "if your good enough the colleges will find you and you wont need my help" thats not right.

and you say Hanson is a good player right? i bet ogan wont help him get anywhere in college.

Bearden played three worthy opponents this year out of 38 games......and lost all three! Bearden by 17, you need to put that pipe down because it stunts your growth and tends to keep one from thinking rationally as in your case! GO EAGLES...silent but deadly!

I made my assessment on talent and athletic ability, i have seen both teams play unfortunately bearden played a bad game.

Does anyone know if a district team has faced another district team 5 times in one season like:

 

Reg. season game 1

Reg. season game 2

District Championship

Region Championship

State Championship

 

This is probably more likely to happen in girls, but I was just wondering...

 

I'm not sure but the 97-98 Perry County team may have played Columbia Academy 5 times...

 

May have happened with AAA memphis teams...

Now....I have no comment about the AAA schools that you mentioned (that's a whole 'nother debate).

As for all the AA schools that, in your view, are BETTER than BTW....Your logic is fatally flawed!

 

 

Here's why:

 

 

1) Carter defeated ALL of those teams, except Fulton.

 

2) Every single one of those teams are ELIMINATED, sitting at home--their season is over.

 

3) BTW is still playing for a State Championship.

 

4) BTW just defeated Carter, head-to-head.

 

5) Given the above truths, there is only one rational and logical conclusion that any unbiased person could draw is....

 

6) ...BTW is more than likely BETTER than all the AA teams you mentioned.....

 

7) The "jury" is still out, on Fulton vs BTW...

At the end of the day, BTW has accomplished the one simple, most important thing that all Tournament teams MUST do: survive and advanced! Just survive and advance.....

 

For the record: I stated a month or so ago (on this CoachT site) that, in my observtion....... BTW is a "Bona Fide threat to win the State Title!" ........ I stand firmly stand by that conclusion.

 

We shall see how this thing plays out....

The big didnt touch the ball everytime. He rebounded well and looked like a basketball player. I was waiting on the 6'5 6'7 wing players to kind of take over but they kept getting subbed out of the game. After the 1st quarter I almost got up and left but had to stay to see Joe the SHow

Yeah they prob got subbed out cause they werent going with the game plan the coach wanted haha.

That coach will never ever in a million years come close to sniffing a gold ball if he couldnt win with this team.

He will go down as the most underachieved worst coach in basketball before its all said and done.

Still after watching all the teams in the state Bearden is still the most best or most athletic team they just didnt show up on one night and it cost them.

They were very O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D and their coach did not help them out any by substituting five in and five out every 3 minutes. You can sub 5 for 5 if you have 10 players that can play but Bearden is only 6 or 7 deep. Some of those guys had no business on the floor at all. Clarksville NE just save them from a Whitestation BEATDOWN. Congratulations Clarksville NE for fighting to the end and Bearden fans travel safely on I-40 East.

no i promise they werent overrated, they are still the most talented team in the state, but theyre coach is just probably one of the worst coaches in high school basketball besides coach ogan from powell... If you cant win a state championship with 4 mid major D1 prospects all over 6'5 on your team then wow thats saying something.

Plus i talked to one of the players and he said coach blevins changed the game plan and told them he wanted demonote (the big post) touching the ball every possession and that he didnt want any shots put up outside the paint...

If a coach does that, then what do you expect...

Why not? Everyone else does it and it works I dont see why high school basketball has not adopted it yet.

because in college all the athletes are good and all teams can compete... college coaches get to pick theyre players... high school doesnt high school you get what kids are zoned for the school. and some teams only chance of winning is to work the clock because the other high school team may be so much better. so no shot clock it would just have the dominate teams winning every game theyre would rarely be an upset or excitement.

Grainger lost badly to Carter once , but also beat them 71-53 once.

Yep i forgot about Grangier with skylar mcbee they varely well may be better or just as good as BTW as well so thats another team...

The East is strong now we are no longer weak like back in the day lol

2) Name the 2 or 3 teams that are better in East TN District, since you say "BTW would finish 3rd or 4th"

 

3) Name the 4 teams in AA that are better, since you say "BTW would be the 5th best... east"

 

4) Name the 6 teams that are better, since you say BTW would "probably ... 7th best team Carter played all year."

1) best team in the district- Fulton or AE (who carter got lucky and beat the number 1 team in the state that being ae)

2) Fulton, Austin East, Anderson County, and Carter (BTW beat Carter, so i say BTW third or fourth)

3) Fulton, AE, Carter and btw are about equal it would go diff. every other night. and Union County would give them all the wanted as well. Then Anderson County didnt finish well, but they are a good team. then i forgot about Grangier with one of the best gaurds around. so thats 6 teams possibly in AA from the east.

4) fulton, ae, Bearden (AAA soon to be state champs), central, oak ridge, Grangier, Union County, Karns (maybe), and Anderson County (maybe)

Not trying to make anybody mad, but i am just calling it how i see it... i have nothing against BTW i wish them the best of luck, but this is as honest as i can be.
