Yes, I hate when they do that! I remember Humboldt & Manassa was number 1 &2 in state & they had them playing first game. Manasa end up winning on a last second shot from half court. The rest of the games manassa won by 25 points even championship game was a blow out! Humboldt finished the season 32-1 without a gold or silver ball and was atleast the 2nd best team in state with that lose.

I think Union City will win, they have the best player in Class A & plays great team ball!!

The worst game that I’ve seen them play & they still could have won the game, most of the turnovers were just terrible/lazy passes or forced. Humboldt needs a point guard that can get other players in the game & make good decisions. Point guard can’t have over ten (10) turnovers & jacking up 3’s. Also, I would have fouled & not let them get a 3 off that was on the coaches once in overtime look like we were wore out from 18 point comeback! 

Middle college 69-64 over Humboldt in overtime!

Looks like Middle college is going to win this game, Humboldt should have fouled prior to letting Middle College shoot a 3 bank it in from corner!

Never know what will happen with High school players but all three (3) have to get to the glass house first then anything can happen from there. Something about the glass house that gets the best of players but get their and everybody has a chance for gold ball!

Yes, I would start out in a zone to see if they can shoot & not let them run & gun. Humboldt need to go inside & the open 3’s will come. Also, guards need to slash through zone when they double shivers or Fred take what they give is.

Yes, hopefully they will refocus but defense has to know where the shooters are can’t let one player score 40! I remember guarding Cannon Whitby & holding him to 16 points and most of those points came from FT line because you couldn’t touch him. Got to be discipline & stay in front of your man. UC hit about 12 or 13 three pointers got to make someone else beat you. Overall, Humboldt played a good game but made a lot of mistakes, point guard had atleast 10 turnovers by doing to much just play basic team ball. I think coach will have them refocus but Memphis will be tough to play at!!! 

Great game against Union City & Humboldt went down to wire with UC winning 70-68 with Brooks having 40 points that kid can play! Humboldt will travel to Memphis to play Middle College on Monday & UC gets Booker T Washington at home. Good luck Vikings let’s get ready to play Monday!!!

Humboldt has another gear I agree. South Fulton pretty good team but Humboldt was much better. Humboldt definitely needs to win the Region and keep them at home for the sub-state. I agree they have to turn it up a notch defensively. But they looked really athletic with their guards and powerful around the glass. You have to think they will be a handful for whoever and whenever.

Yes, they played a lot of kids but wasn’t one of their best games, a lot of  missed easy shots & unforced turnovers.  Coach Abernathy will have them focused as they prepare for next game this team is still young with only two (2) seniors & one starts. If, the guards are playing good & making good decision they will have a chance to get back to Murfreesboro but it will depend on how guards play. With 6’4 & 6’5 post players, teams will have to play a zone because you can’t get around shivers & if defense can keep pressure without fouling they will have a shot!

He is a big athletic kid has started center on the basketball team since 9th grade, plays both ways & also kick the ball off & 90% of time it’s a touchback. Shivers is just a junior this year & only 15 years old so he still has a lot of potential & very quick on his feet to weigh almost 340 pounds! Les the basketball to state tournament last year averaging 13pts & 12 rebounds, hopefully he will stay focus with all the big time offers that he has!

Why would you say something like that, I wouldn’t wish or say anything about a kid getting a injury. Shivers has offers from Georgia, TN, Auburn, Michigan & several other big schools! Hoping he has a injury free season!

Yes, I agree! Not taking nothing away from my Alumni, this team was very young and it showed especially at the point guard position just to many unforced TO’s and  taking bad shots! The young kids will learn from this & hopefully get stronger & learn from this. Hampton guards played a great game moved the ball around & found the open man, great team ball! The only weakest that I saw was that they are a right handed team &  rarely went to left but Humboldt staff didn’t notice it! Good luck Hamptom!!!!!

Humbolt has a 6’6 335 pound center who’s a sophomore & also plays football has offers from Michigan, Arkansas, Mississippi state, Marshall & several other schools. The guards are OK but sometimes make young careless mistakes, one is about 5’8 & 5’’10. The forward is 6’4 junior who can play when he is focus & other wing/forward is 6’2 OK player but still developing! Humboldt has no seniors & their record shows twelve (12) loses but seven (7) loses were to AA & AAA teams, three (3) losses to Middleton (#1 team) & two (2) loses to Trento who they beat twice. Nobody expected this team to make it this far but them, I thought next year they would be better since they are so young but coaches have done a great job!

I said Humbolt offense wasn’t good to many young players but we will be fine in the coming years got to find a offense that works because we can’t run the spread! Good luck to LC rest of season!

You are right the region is much better when Humboldt is good. As for this game LC should roll but you never know with this years LC team. Hopefully the Falcons have fixed some things. I was talking about the group of 9th & 10th graders they have starting on varsity this year who were very successful in Middle school and getting a lot of playing experience. A very young Viking team with only six (6) seniors so only time will tell! The Viking defense is not that bad but because the offense is not clicking the defense stays on the field to long! They have Stephon Shivers only playing defense which gives him some rest but against good teams he needs to be on offensive line! LC will win unless they just have a turnover fest! 

Humbolt is very young with only six (6) seniors but the next couple of years they should be able to compete with the best in west Tn if they stay together! I don’t see them being able to beat Lake County, Defense plays pretty good but offense is not, to many mistakes & to much passing for my liking! 

Humboldt offense is not clicking & getting to many penalties can’t see them winning at Lake County unless they play a perfect game!

Lol, I bet she would, he probably eats up everything in the house & is just 14 so he is most likely  still growing. At 6’5 330 , I’m scared to see the grocery bill!!
