Hardin Valley Academy will be hosting a scheduling meeting on Tuesday April 16th in the library for any school who wishes to attend. There have been 18 schools confirmed attendance from Region 2 AAA, Region A-AA, Region 3 AAA.

There is a current opening at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville for Head Wrestling Coach. Young team, lots of resources, good community support, and good facilities. Former head coach stepped down to focus on masters degree and family and is in the building to help with the program. There will more than likely be a teaching position available but not sure which ones yet, core subjects (math, science, english, social studies). To apply you must go to knoxschools.org and apply online under classified positions, they can not interview you unless you apply online.

TIMES: THE WEIGH-IN IS FROM 8:00 TO 9:00AM, COACHES MEETING AT 9:30, AND WRESTLING BEGINS AT 10:00AM. WE WILL RUN STRAIGHT THROUGH UNTIL COMPLETION, WITH ONLY SHORT BREAKS BETWEEN ROUNDS.

DIVISIONS: FRESHMEN BOYS- THE FRESHMEN BOYS DIVISION IS RESERVED FOR TYPICAL FRESHMEN. IF YOU HAVE A FRESHMAN THAT IS VERY COMPETITIVE ON A VARSITY LEVEL, WE NEED TO MOVE HIM UP TO THE B- TEAM DIVISION.

JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS- THE JV BOYS DIVISION IS FOR ALL SOPHOMORES AND ONLY WEAK JUNIORS (NOT COMPETITIVE ON THE VARSITY LEVEL).

WEIGHT CLASSES: WE WILL USE THE 14 NFHS WEIGHT CLASSES WITH A +2 GROWTH ALLOWANCE, UNLESS SOMEONE IS WRESTLING FRIDAY NIGHT. WE WILL DO 8 MAN BRACKETS, IF NEEDED, WE WILL DO 2-8 MAN BRACKETS WITH WINNERS WRESTLING FOR 1ST/2ND AND CONSOLATION WINNERS WRESTLING FOR 3RD/4TH.

ENTRY FEE: $8 PER WRESTLER OR $125 (MAX) PER TEAM, NO MONEY, NO WEIGH IN SHEET. IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS IT WITH ME.

SPECTATOR ADMISSION: $8-ADULTS AND $3- STUDENTS ALL DAY.

CONCESSIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE.

AWARDS: 1ST -4TH PLACE MEDALS IN EACH WEIGHT CLASS IN EACH DIVISION.

Teaching positions in Math, English, and Social Studies are going to be available and possibly some others. You do not have to teach to apply for the coaching position, but there are spots open if you do teach. This is a paid coaching position.

@Pummel, right now it is just a coaching position, but possibly could be a teaching position in the future.

Yes, you are correct. We have added Jordan as a third coach, so since the head man has departed, we are back to looking for another third coach. Right now the position that will be posted will be for a head coach, so all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. We hope to hire a third coach before the holiday break.

Due to personal reasons, the head coach at Hardin Valley has stepped down as of last Monday 11/15/2010. Qualified applicants interested in a coaching position should apply with Knox County HR department. For further information contact Rudy Furman @ furmanr@k12tn.net.

I am actually looking for specific Jan 2nd tournaments, but I would like to know when all of them are across the state.

This is my last reference to the state qualifier at HVA. We need wrestlers to compete in this tournament. By next Monday 4/6/2009 if we do not have at least 50 wrestlers competing in this tournament ,we will have to cancel. If you were planning to register and have not done so, please do so at this time. You do not have to attend the National Tournament if you qualify. This tournament is open to wrestlers rising 4th to rising 12th grades. Please make plans to attend this tournament. It is a great way to keep in tune during the off season.
