  1. He is the expert on softball in Middle TN.

I think its more like he thinks he is the expert on softball in middle tn. He knows some stuff sure but hes wrong more than hes right. Doesn't know any more than anyone willing to stand around the park at a tournament or two and just listen to all the rumors gossip and complaining going on. Half truths and inuendo most of it and drawing some maybe right maybe wrong conclusions. Never really figured out the fun of making fun of high school girls on a anon bulletin board but to each his own.

  2. 21 (or you can disregard this one and pick up at 21 yourself :roflol: ), players who are convinced by parents how high school ball is unimportant and just practice time between summer seasons. See the 3AAA topic. Just because a college coach may not be there-and I've seen them at games this spring, actually-doesn't mean it's useless and that attitude has to lead to lesser results.

21-B players who are convinced by parents how high school ball is so important and so good and not just practice time between summer seasons.

  3. Showing pride and respect for their schools, teammates, coaches, communities and themselves, that's what high school sports are about. I feel bad for any players who think high school sports are just inbetween time for ASA/AAU play. Good players should be able to take them both seriously, and the ones who constantly hear from parents how it's unimportant are likely the ones who come up short in school ball despite great ability.

If you think it's that unimportant and useless, just pull them off the high school team. <_<

That's how it was in the good ole days but things have changed. It's not even rec ball level any more it's bad rec ball level. Good players get grumpy because they go backward in school season. People who don't know that haven't experienced good ball yet and htink it's all good. The only reason a lot still play is because there isn't anything else to do. Got to be a record this year for players quitting before the season is over. Got to be a record for players saying they don't want to play and probably wont play next year. Look at signing classes for a lot of colleges this year and see their signees didn't play hschool ball this year. The are starting to pull them off like you ask. Heard a rumor about one alternative might be coming up next year and then they won't have to play any more.

  4. I don't care what anyone says, it DOES affect your speed. Maybe only 2-5 miles per hour, but regardless, it does.

Hope you dont teach science or physics. Might need to brush up on your science and maybe your logic too. How about you tell us how you throw a ball slower from three more feet? Are you suggesting that you slow your arm down because you moved back 3 feet? That's hogwash. You probably throw with more force. Are you suggesting that the distance all 3 feet of it makes the ball slow down more? Surely not. A thrown ball will slow down a little every 10 feet or so but not anything like 5 mph for 3 feet. Cause ITS ONLY THREE FEET!

  5. It's only 3 feet. THREE FEET. 36 inches.

And it's not TSSAA. It's the FED that changed the rule. Every state in the country will move to 43 feet no later than spring 2011.

If a pitcher can't throw THREE FEET further, then it might be time to learn a new position.

Did I say it was ONLY THREE FEET?

  6. So if you do the same thing with a bunt it would be called a squeeze. My husband went to a clinic where he heard college coaches speak that they have done this before oppossed to the "contact" play so that the runner has more of an advantage than just reading the hit. It is risky, but so is a squeeze. So I am sure it is not the first time it has happened, just the first you may have heard.

A "hit and run" is a play with the batter swinging. correct term is "run and hit" because the runner is stealing. cant do a straight steal home because the runner cant leave until the ball is release by the pitcher so no way to get there before ball unless the pitcher throws slower than 3 mph. on a "suicide squeeze" the runner is moving to steal but the batter has to bunt the ball orelse the runner is way out. Expecting batters to bunt and make contact is way different that expecting them to hit on a swing and make contact. college coaches squeeze but they dont hit and run / run and hit from 3rd. coach might tell her to take off on contact but not to steal and pray the batter makes contact which is what happens on a suicide squeeze.

  7. Its called a hit and run.

A hit and run from 3rd base? Coach might have told her to run on contact no matter where it was hit, but a hit and run is a steal play with the batter swinging. If there was a hit and run on, it might be the first time in the history of softball that play was called with a runner on 3rd.

  8. Thunder 93 over Synergy (Synergy is from the Mid TN area I think)

Worth beat Thunder 93 in the championship to win there Berth. Congradulations to Team Worth!!! Is there anyone that watched this game care to comment on what wet on. Going on the last time these two teams met I was expecting a knock down drag out battel. Thanks.

Alot of knock down but not much drag out either game. 9-0 and 16-2. To much pitching. To much hitting top to bottom. Middle of the order was nasty. Not much drop off at the bottom. They are better than I thought they were and they are a lot better than they were the first week in hendersonville even though they were good then.

    No 10u. No 12u. 11 in 14u. 7 in 16u. 4 in 18u. ASA is broke.

  9. FYI: The weekend of Hendersonville, Crook did not have a tourney except 12U only in Cookeville, so those teams that play USFA regularly played ASA because it was local. After that qualifier, those teams except a couple in each age came to Chattanooga for the next qualifier which means they were not willing to try to qualify unless it was at home. Keep in mind also the serious teams travel to qualify and the rest stay at home for the local tournament and also keep in mind the Nashville area is much larger in population than SE TN. which helps Ken. Ken does a good job and should be doing ASA but also knows the market and the market in Nashville is USFA for most teams because most do not know the value of playing the best in ASA. But again ASA is for the Elite teams especially older ages and most teams have trouble competing for those 4 berths available but never will till they expose their players to the best. Not a negative but truth.

ASA does have to work on things especially marketing to keep up, such as awarding sites to "Owensboro" or Sioux falls etc...but overall in TN it is improving. If the Midstate (large population) can buy in then ASA will be in TN where GA, TX and Cal is. The other thing with ASA is that it is a National event not a regional and with economic times the way they are it is hard for some to travel west but to keep it as big as it is, this would be hard to change.

Dont disagree with any of that but still missing the point. She bashes nashvilles participation and the whole story that they only play in nashville and wont travel but she doesnt have any chatt teams in her chatt qualifier. Whree is all the powerful chattanooga support for asa. More nashville teams by far in a chatt qualifier than chatt teams. More knoxville teams. They are traveling but chatt teams arent even qualifying at home. I dont see anything improving. Same ole same ole. Yeah they have more registrations in chatt but it is mainly rec league registrations. Not so in travel. Considering the crap in mid tn asa the last 10 years it is amazing that any mid tn teams still participate. Maybe elite teams do asa but more and more elite teams are going the showcase route in tn and avoiding asa. Way better competition than 2, 2, 5, or 8 team tn asa qualifiers. The nasvhille market is usfa because tn asa keeps screwing it up over and over. Crook has taken advantage of their incompetence. They cant or wont buy in because it is so shoddily run and being bashed by the leaders. ASA used to be top dog in tn even way more than ga is now. Those days are long gone and until national changes their policies and tn asa cleans house and revamps the glory days wont ever be back.

  10. I used 25% based on the other posters "USFA Teams better than 75% than at sluggerfest". Personally I don't think there are more than 3-5 per state that are true "A' teams. 12's and 10's there definetely isn't 3 or 5 "A" teams. 14's that seems like a close number from what I have seen. 16's and up I don't know. When I say "A" teams, I am talking about teams that can compete regionally or nationally at ASA level. Which our team can and has done. Not just a team that plays or wins "A' tournaments in Tennesee.. I am a big fan of ASA, as that is where the best fastpitch is played, but I also have played USFA, USSSA, NSA, SEAA.. They all have a place in fastpitch. Some like vanilla, some like strawberry ice cream....To each his own..

Yet every body keeps missing the point. Every body who has ever been to a asa national knows that the other world series dont hold a candle in competition to that. Thats not the point.

The point is that one asa director comes on this board and complains about nashville getting a national qualifier because she says they don't deserve it because nashville doesn't support asa and chattanooga is all that there is supporting asa. Nashville put on the qualifier with a ton of teams and most were middle tn teams that she says doesnt support asa just because they dont travel every week to chattanooga. Not many chattanooga teams made the trip up to nashville. Now she has a qualifier in chattanooga and nobody shows up.

    2 12u teams

2 10u teams who are both knoxville

    5 18u teams 2 nashville, 1 knoxville, 2 chattanooga and one with a berth

    8 16u teams - 4 nashville, 3 knoxville and only 1 chattanooga

12u only has 12 with even split with nashville, knoxville, and chattanooga

Add in the 2 teams who have already qualified just so we dont have to hear that argument and pretend they are there both nashville and knoxville have alot more teams than chattanooga playing in a chattanooga qualifier.

Chatt might be registering a lot of rec teams so she can talk about how much they support asa there but they arent supporting travel asa anywhere near the level nashville is. All the rec leagues in mid tn dropped asa several years ago under the incompetent leadership of a couple of lame asa directors. They are gone but asa isnt going to get those rec leagues back no matter who is in charge.

Tn asa is broken. Its been broken badly for years. They promise they are going to fix it but they dont listen. They dont learn. They dont change.

ASA national level is different but they dont listen much either. They have the right connections so they stay on top for now anyway. It is catching up on them but they dont see it coming. In states like tn all this stupid stuff like mandatory bollinger insurance through them at rediculously high prices and id cards and really lame coaching certification, what a joke that is, just to step on the field is going to nothing but eliminate a lot more teams playing asa in tn. Tn asa is still living in 1985 and dont think they need to do anything to stay on top. Crook is kicking butt and taking asa names and its going to keep going until tn asa fixes it all. I think its too late but maybe not. Getting rid of the whole bunch and starting over is a good idea. Hanging on to the glory days and bashing other asa distrcits isnt the way to do it.

  11. There are several teams that have already qualified, that chose not to play this weekend, to prevent that berth from going to someone else. While USFA did / does have several teams, there is no place for many of them in ASA..ASA is for the elite teams, and I rather it not get watered down. This is obvious when you have to split the USFA 12u B division into Gold & Silver that is rediculous. When you have teams playing B for sakes of a trophy, that should be playing A is also ridiculous. Or you only have 4 teams in USFA 12UA and none are "A' teams????

Don't get me wrong USFA has it's place, but ASA is the top level of competition Nationwide..

All thats fine but its not the point. Shes been bashing Nashville for their lack of support all year but if it wasn't for Nashville and Knoxville there wouldn't be any teams. 2 teams in 2 age groups? Thats a joke. There are only 2 teams in every age division who have qualified and some of them are playing this weekend. Not much of a argument.

    Which team dropped out?

    predators

  12. One team has dropped out in 16U due to injury so there is one slot available in the ASA National Qualifier this weekend in Chattanooga. If interested in playing contact Kim at (423)987-4402 or swaffordhome@bellsouth.net.

    Nashville - 4 teams

    Knoxville - 3 teams

    Chattanooga - 1 team

Who is supporting ASA now? 8 teams. Didn't Hendersonville have 18 in 16u? Something is wrong in paradise.

    2 12U

    2 10U both Knoxville

    5 18U - 2 Nashville, 1 Knoxville, 1 Chatt without a berth

14U is "biggest" with a underwhelming 12 teams if they all show. Knoxville more than Chatt "area" teams. Keep on telling us how Chattanooga carries ASA and how bad the midstate stinks in their support. Keep tellng us that ASA is so much better and is the all important governing body of softball from a 20 year old ole boy system resolution with no meaning. All those alphabets with "pseudo world series" as you keep insisting have run off an left ASA in the dust in Tn but ASA won't listen. 29 teams in a national qualifier for all age divisions. That's embarrassing. There are that many in the USFA State in 14u and 16u alone to qualify for world. They have something like 103 teams. Something is real wrong in paradise or am I repeating myself.

  13. Nighthawks (18 Gold) won this. Congratulations to Haley Elliott, tournament MVP! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Wasn't the 18 Gold Nighthawks. They were put out in the first round after a losing record in pool play. It was the 16U team.

  14. Need to go to 6 classes. 4 teams in each class go to state. 1 from west, 1 from midwest, 1 from mideast, 1 from east each class. Would be fair for rural schools and big city schools. Have sectionals at one location in each section, that is reasonable for the teams involved. cuts down on team expenses and TSSAA expenses

How is that fair? If you are going to 4 teams, it should be the best 4 teams, no matter where they come from. If the best 4 teams are from Nashville, then a Jackson team that is the 5th best team shouldn't go ahead of them - or vice versa.

  15. This was terrible:

Why not leave it at this?

Who decided the kids who could be voted on? I mean, really. Seems a little biased. Yes, I admit I'm putting my kid's name in the mix. She is a great ball player and deserves to be nominated.

Cause that would have required a little class and a big ole dose of reality. Id say more but that would make me jsut as classless

  16. Other: Rebecca Williams ??“ Siegel High School ??“ signed with UT-Martin.

Who decided the kids who could be voted on? I mean, really. Seems a little biased. Yes, I admit I'm putting my kid's name in the mix. She is a great ball player and deserves to be nominated as much as her teammate Caralisa Connell does ...

And petty narcissistic jealousy rears its ugly head in a ugly way. Time for a reality check. Enjoy the scholly for books only.

  17. Now if anyone wants to look at post 1, 2, and 3 on this thread and explain how joeyT conveniently knows all of this yet only copies it from UTube, its beyond me. JoeyT, glad you're back on here. Are you absolutely sure what you copied on this site and described to motion picture and the narrative of what was said is the truth as you described it? Do you have first hand knowledge of those events?

Friday nite I was sitting here and in came a email from a buddy with a link on it. Email said he just got off the phone with some body who told him about it. Clicked on the link. Watched the video. 32 views by people then.

Posted the link on here. Yea go look at post 1 like you said. It says

    Ouch

Fryer made somebody mad. They've posted a video on You Tube claiming TSSAA violations.

Fryer Coaching He is even making substitutions from behind the bench.

the description posted on the video page is

Then there is a quote. If you werent so lazy you can see that it is EXACTLY what is typed in on the you tube page. Look at the top right corner under coachfryermustgo subscribe. Word for word.

Yea phatgas I am absolutely sure that I copied it exactly what was on you tube nothing more nothing less. There isnt even any commentary by me no opinions no agreeing no anything. I COPIED IT STRAIGHT FROM YOU TUBE WITH A LINK.

Guess what phatgas today a southwest plane caught fire in Houston Plane Catches Fire

I wasnt there I didnt take the video. I didnt write the commentary. I dont have a first hand knowledge. It doesnt matter. ITS A LINK.

Nothing in post 1 or 2 or 3 says any different. Even on top of that post 3 is to answer post 2 and said EXACTLY that all I did was link it and pass on some news.

Ive even answered all this right to you. See post 8. I said it before but you didnt pay any attention. Stupid thing is that the only thing you got from post 8 is some stupid assumption you made that is WRONG. You know what they say about assumptions. Well maybe not.

    1. Is that high school players or are they 8th graders?

high school players - brit, chelsea, kia, and others

    2. What makes a copy of an unsigned movie on another site valid and did JoeyT do something to the information?

what does "do something to the information" mean. IT IS A LINK TO YOU TUBE. d-e-n-s-e. yea I hacked you tube and altered the video and description

For some reason you made your assumption because I knew nicknames of kids. If you werent so lazy or dense you would go look at MJ roster and see that they arent nicknames they are real names. I should have looked my self because I didnt know how to spell them right. brit, chelsea, and kia should be Britt, Chelsea, and Caya. MJ roster Talk about some super secret nicknames huh.

Do you feel like a fool yet? Probably not because you still dont get it.

ITS A LINK. I COPIED AND PASTED. THOSE NAMES ARENT NICKNAMES. DO YOU EVER GET ANYTHING RIGHT. 553 views now.

  18. The POINT is a coach is blatantly cheating and apparently has been doing it for awhile. The POINT is he has no regard for the rules.

You're talking about "posting creditable sources is reasonable." The camera is your source.

I guess your whole argument is posting it on this website and not to TSSAA. Maybe it HAS been sent to TSSAA. Maybe this guy HAS been turned in for previous cheating without results.

One more thing....I know nothing about this school but isn't it a Christian school? And if it is, don't they sign documents saying they must represent their school and faith in an honorable way?

    Just sayin'....

But keep on arguing how the one taping the cheating should REVEAL him/herself. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Most of you must not be too familiar with PHargis. Hes wrong all the time. Writes about things he doesnt know anything about. But none of that stops him from posting 10 times a day. When hes confronted with facts he changes the subject and never answers direct questions and comes back with irrelevant things like you never gave him a fact or asked a direct question in the first place even if you ask it 100 times. You arent going to get anywhere with him.

Mt juliet high school is a public school it isnt a private or christian school.

  19. When Jesscia Brown make her announcement tomorrow it will be the final singing for the Booker T. Washington Lady Warriors. Brown is set to decide between East Tennessee State University and Arkansas State University in the morning. Despite playing only seven games this season due to a torn ACL, Jaquita Burt signed to play with Northwest Shoals Community College in Alabama, Monique Ingram has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, TN. Daira Hester chose Jackson State University in Jackson, MS over UT Martin, Jacksonville State, Alcorn State, and Southeastern Louisiana State. Over the last four seasons, this class has won three league, two city, four district, one regional, and one sectional championships while making it to the sectional each year with a state appearance in 2007. Arguable one of the best four year runs of any team in the City of Memphis.

    Congratulations to these young women

Just for information purpose and definitely not to take away from there accomplishments because they still signed

The only colleges who are part of National Letter of Intent are ncaa division 1 and most ncaa division 2. community colleges and naia dont. They can sign some papers the school gives them but it isnt national letter of intent.

Doesnt really matter but in case people wanted to learn some thing about the way it works

    Congratulations

  20. The Coach is Curt Mitchner, one of the Girl's father, he has been coaching aau teams for years. The video seems to be incriminating, but what are the facts? Did he just show up at a tournament and watch them play, a coach is not going to sit still, even parents coach from the stands. if he attends the practices and coaches/ coaches at all the games then you got something, but just because he attended some game and appears to be coaching from the stands, might not be much to it. He always used to attend some middle School games but I never seen him coach from the stands. Curt never really says much during games, but knowing Curt, the team is his team. If you think you got something turn it over to the TSSAA, but I think it will not turn out to be much

ok worden. yes I did post this but I wasnt really going to do much besides post this after I heard about it being on you tube. But your posts just make me crazy. Your arguing things that dont matter. It doesnt matter if he does it one time or a million times the rule is violated. He is going to sit still thats the rule and if he doesnt he broke the rule. He cant do it from the stands its the rule. But he isnt in the stands. There arent any stands on that side of the court. He is in a chair behind the bench the girls are turning around to listen to him. He is running the entire half time. He put in substitutes. When is the last time youve seen a parent put in substitutes from the bleachers. Never. Then he does the post game while your boy curt is doing his job and picking up the balls. That doesnt qualify as spin even. It passed spin in about the 2nd sentence. sad coaches cheat. even sadder people defend cheating. most sad with all that they can't get more than a game out of district when there is a state championship team sitting in the bleachers every year or playing for some body else.

  21. Some questions:

    3. Are all of these players MJ players or are they from different schools?

    MJ

4.Was anyone talked to who made the movie?

    irrelevant

    5. Why did joeyt put it on this site instead of sending it to the TSSAa himself and let the senario play out there? what is Joeyt's motivation?

irrelevant. I didn't post it on you tube I COPIED the information. Ever here of drudge report. Its the internet phatgas

    6. What school does JoeyT support?

irrelevant but I support the girls and rule keepers not a team

  22. You can say what you want about Fryer, he can be tough and he does run off kids, but illegal recruiting is a bunch of crap. Almost all of his players come up through MJ Middle School under Coach Johnson, who gives them a a good foundation. He does condition almost year round, and most of his girls that play aau, play on different teams. Actually he has been known to discouarage AAU, he lost two great players over AAU, don't know all the details, don't claim to, but i SEE A LOT OF IGNORANCE OF THE PROGRAM IN THIS POST.

Well well worden. Did you even read the post. there is a link to a video on you tube. the quote in the post was copied directly off the you tube site as the description for the video. Quote from you tube poster not me. I just linked it and copied it. did you even watch the video. some body caught him clearly coaching in a AAU tournament on video. lot of ignorance but not in the post. it was just a reporting of another post.

  23. Ouch

Fryer made somebody mad. They've posted a video on You Tube claiming TSSAA violations.

He is even making substitutions from behind the bench.

the description posted on the video page is

Coach Chris Fryer is coaching, condtioning and recruiting these girls against TSSAA rules & regulations.

Coach Fryer conditions & coaches year round which is against TSSAA Rules. It gives him an unfair advantage against coaches & opposing schools that follow the rules.

He also is very abusive to his players which causes a very high turnover (revolving door) of players. This abusiveness causes him to have to recruit (illegally) to have enough players to play. It's been going on for a while, but because he wins a lot of games (due to his cheating), the administration tolerates it by looking the other way or just sweeping things under the rug. We are trying to expose him and cause a swell of support to get him fired, replaced or transferred out.

    Did I say ouch
