  1. I think its more like he thinks he is the expert on softball in middle tn. He knows some stuff sure but hes wrong more than hes right. Doesn't know any more than anyone willing to stand around the park at a tournament or two and just listen to all the rumors gossip and complaining going on. Half truths and inuendo most of it and drawing some maybe right maybe wrong conclusions. Never really figured out the fun of making fun of high school girls on a anon bulletin board but to each his own.
  2. 21-B players who are convinced by parents how high school ball is so important and so good and not just practice time between summer seasons.

That's how it was in the good ole days but things have changed. It's not even rec ball level any more it's bad rec ball level. Good players get grumpy because they go backward in school season. People who don't know that haven't experienced good ball yet and htink it's all good. The only reason a lot still play is because there isn't anything else to do. Got to be a record this year for players quitting before the season is over. Got to be a record for players saying they don't want to play and probably wont play next year. Look at signing classes for a lot of colleges this year and see their signees didn't play hschool ball this year. The are starting to pull them off like you ask. Heard a rumor about one alternative might be coming up next year and then they won't have to play any more.
  4. Memphis is their own association that isn't part of Tennessee ASA. Memphis ASA gets one berth to Nationals in all ages. Tennessee ASA gets 4 and it's all separate.
  5. Hope you dont teach science or physics. Might need to brush up on your science and maybe your logic too. How about you tell us how you throw a ball slower from three more feet? Are you suggesting that you slow your arm down because you moved back 3 feet? That's hogwash. You probably throw with more force. Are you suggesting that the distance all 3 feet of it makes the ball slow down more? Surely not. A thrown ball will slow down a little every 10 feet or so but not anything like 5 mph for 3 feet. Cause ITS ONLY THREE FEET!
  6. It's only 3 feet. THREE FEET. 36 inches. And it's not TSSAA. It's the FED that changed the rule. Every state in the country will move to 43 feet no later than spring 2011. If a pitcher can't throw THREE FEET further, then it might be time to learn a new position. Did I say it was ONLY THREE FEET?
  7. A "hit and run" is a play with the batter swinging. correct term is "run and hit" because the runner is stealing. cant do a straight steal home because the runner cant leave until the ball is release by the pitcher so no way to get there before ball unless the pitcher throws slower than 3 mph. on a "suicide squeeze" the runner is moving to steal but the batter has to bunt the ball orelse the runner is way out. Expecting batters to bunt and make contact is way different that expecting them to hit on a swing and make contact. college coaches squeeze but they dont hit and run / run and hit from 3rd. coach might tell her to take off on contact but not to steal and pray the batter makes contact which is what happens on a suicide squeeze.
  8. A hit and run from 3rd base? Coach might have told her to run on contact no matter where it was hit, but a hit and run is a steal play with the batter swinging. If there was a hit and run on, it might be the first time in the history of softball that play was called with a runner on 3rd.
  9. Alot of knock down but not much drag out either game. 9-0 and 16-2. To much pitching. To much hitting top to bottom. Middle of the order was nasty. Not much drop off at the bottom. They are better than I thought they were and they are a lot better than they were the first week in hendersonville even though they were good then. No 10u. No 12u. 11 in 14u. 7 in 16u. 4 in 18u. ASA is broke.
  10. Dont disagree with any of that but still missing the point. She bashes nashvilles participation and the whole story that they only play in nashville and wont travel but she doesnt have any chatt teams in her chatt qualifier. Whree is all the powerful chattanooga support for asa. More nashville teams by far in a chatt qualifier than chatt teams. More knoxville teams. They are traveling but chatt teams arent even qualifying at home. I dont see anything improving. Same ole same ole. Yeah they have more registrations in chatt but it is mainly rec league registrations. Not so in travel. Considering the crap in mid tn asa the last 10 years it is amazing that any mid tn teams still participate. Maybe elite teams do asa but more and more elite teams are going the showcase route in tn and avoiding asa. Way better competition than 2, 2, 5, or 8 team tn asa qualifiers. The nasvhille market is usfa because tn asa keeps screwing it up over and over. Crook has taken advantage of their incompetence. They cant or wont buy in because it is so shoddily run and being bashed by the leaders. ASA used to be top dog in tn even way more than ga is now. Those days are long gone and until national changes their policies and tn asa cleans house and revamps the glory days wont ever be back.
  11. Yet every body keeps missing the point. Every body who has ever been to a asa national knows that the other world series dont hold a candle in competition to that. Thats not the point. The point is that one asa director comes on this board and complains about nashville getting a national qualifier because she says they don't deserve it because nashville doesn't support asa and chattanooga is all that there is supporting asa. Nashville put on the qualifier with a ton of teams and most were middle tn teams that she says doesnt support asa just because they dont travel every week to chattanooga. Not many chattanooga teams made the trip up to nashville. Now she has a qualifier in chattanooga and nobody shows up. 2 12u teams 2 10u teams who are both knoxville 5 18u teams 2 nashville, 1 knoxville, 2 chattanooga and one with a berth 8 16u teams - 4 nashville, 3 knoxville and only 1 chattanooga 12u only has 12 with even split with nashville, knoxville, and chattanooga Add in the 2 teams who have already qualified just so we dont have to hear that argument and pretend they are there both nashville and knoxville have alot more teams than chattanooga playing in a chattanooga qualifier. Chatt might be registering a lot of rec teams so she can talk about how much they support asa there but they arent supporting travel asa anywhere near the level nashville is. All the rec leagues in mid tn dropped asa several years ago under the incompetent leadership of a couple of lame asa directors. They are gone but asa isnt going to get those rec leagues back no matter who is in charge. Tn asa is broken. Its been broken badly for years. They promise they are going to fix it but they dont listen. They dont learn. They dont change. ASA national level is different but they dont listen much either. They have the right connections so they stay on top for now anyway. It is catching up on them but they dont see it coming. In states like tn all this stupid stuff like mandatory bollinger insurance through them at rediculously high prices and id cards and really lame coaching certification, what a joke that is, just to step on the field is going to nothing but eliminate a lot more teams playing asa in tn. Tn asa is still living in 1985 and dont think they need to do anything to stay on top. Crook is kicking butt and taking asa names and its going to keep going until tn asa fixes it all. I think its too late but maybe not. Getting rid of the whole bunch and starting over is a good idea. Hanging on to the glory days and bashing other asa distrcits isnt the way to do it.
  12. All thats fine but its not the point. Shes been bashing Nashville for their lack of support all year but if it wasn't for Nashville and Knoxville there wouldn't be any teams. 2 teams in 2 age groups? Thats a joke. There are only 2 teams in every age division who have qualified and some of them are playing this weekend. Not much of a argument. predators
  13. Nashville - 4 teams Knoxville - 3 teams Chattanooga - 1 team Who is supporting ASA now? 8 teams. Didn't Hendersonville have 18 in 16u? Something is wrong in paradise. 2 12U 2 10U both Knoxville 5 18U - 2 Nashville, 1 Knoxville, 1 Chatt without a berth 14U is "biggest" with a underwhelming 12 teams if they all show. Knoxville more than Chatt "area" teams. Keep on telling us how Chattanooga carries ASA and how bad the midstate stinks in their support. Keep tellng us that ASA is so much better and is the all important governing body of softball from a 20 year old ole boy system resolution with no meaning. All those alphabets with "pseudo world series" as you keep insisting have run off an left ASA in the dust in Tn but ASA won't listen. 29 teams in a national qualifier for all age divisions. That's embarrassing. There are that many in the USFA State in 14u and 16u alone to qualify for world. They have something like 103 teams. Something is real wrong in paradise or am I repeating myself.
  14. Wasn't the 18 Gold Nighthawks. They were put out in the first round after a losing record in pool play. It was the 16U team.
  15. How is that fair? If you are going to 4 teams, it should be the best 4 teams, no matter where they come from. If the best 4 teams are from Nashville, then a Jackson team that is the 5th best team shouldn't go ahead of them - or vice versa.
