I predict we will beat a group of tigers 2 weeks in a roll.  Just don't underlook them Bruceton will be ready to play, like Zebra said them kids hate us.  If they had a little more depth itd probably be closer.  I pick Huntingdon by at least 3 touchdowns

    Huntingdon wins big!

This was a game milan needed to send a statement especially after Humboldt blowout nobody really knew how good Milan was going to be. Looks like that didn't happen so I don't know about Milan now. Great game Peabody

Milan better do some work on both sides of the line if not Dawgs could be in trouble!

Must say that is a little surprising. Sounds like the Tide was ready to play.

I don't mean make any of the Milan fans mad. But the Dawgs were lucky to into ot! Peabody should have won in regulation blowing 3 chances in the first half. Milan has got to work on the OL and DL. Trenton pretty much had it way all night! Good luck to both teams the rest of the year!

The chances of him remaining as an assistant will be slim. He simply drove that program down and quit on the kids. I don't know what to do if I am Humboldt, but I will certainly look into hiring a young and upcoming assistant that will bring a positive vibe into Humboldt football. Good news for Humboldt is that they have time to evaluate their program, if they are willing to do that. They also may have to open the paycheck a little bit, but we all have something to say about Humboldt. They simply have the talent to make a deep playoff run year in and year out. No business for this team to not play Huntingdon in November.

Good post you are right! Humboldt has the talent year in and out and should be able to compete in 1A with no problem.:)

Not buying that at all, the"trouble" with kids not wanting to play started when Bland left, and will end when the "right guy" takes over. Been there and witnessed it for myself...Scotts Hill had 22 players when Stroup accepted the job, forty something the next year, and between sixty and seventy from then forward. All positive aspects of a program begin with the coach.

After Coach Tucker retired. Humboldt had Craig and Glover as Coaches each for five years  in that time Humboldt did not win many games.  Both of them sucked as Coaches. Bland took the head job in 2008 and got a little respect back. The people on the Board that made the call not to kept Bland are all gone down. Hopefully the Board Humboldt now is already looking for new coach. Sheppard is a joke to! For Humboldt this will a long long year!

Bland left because there were terrible man get real. Next reason was was half the team would not even show up to practice. That is why he left. Reid had no control at all over his players! No I have no dog in this fact just hate to see the job Bland did go down the drain. I hope Humboldt can fine another good coach to get them back to being able to compete in 1A.

This is how a sportswriter from the Jackson Sun voted.

    1. Trousdale County

    2. Columbia Academy

    3. Union City

    4. Meigs County

    5. Tyner

    6. Adamsville

    7. Marion County

    8. Waverly

    9. McKenzie

    10. Peabody

Mckenzie was shut out by the Mustangs. I don't agree with that and it tells me 2A is not very strong across the state. No offense to Mckenzie a team that was shut out 34-0 by a good 1A school. Besides the Jackson Sun is a joke period!

Desperation maybe but you have a coach that is trying something. Look we scrimmaged humboldt this summer and Reid was disengaged even during the scrimmage. The QB was about to get killled because of bad snaps. He was asked by the ref if he wanted the whistle blown to save him. His exact words were " whatever you think". Now tell me that is a coach that is engaged or even knew what was going on. He may be a good man but I have seen with my own eyes he can not coach.

Another post right on the money!

I'm going to make a statement and some people may disagree with me but it is my honest opinion.

Reid knew he was coming in the back door to take this job 4 years ago and that the school system was doing a knif job to the back on Bland. To know this and take the job anyway speaks to that man's character. Had I been in that situation and offered the Joni would have turned it down because what they did is just not right. I believe coach Reid showed no integrity in that situation. Just my two cents b

I agree because I don't understand Reid. He had turned the job down two or three times. He was offered the job before Bland took it. Makes no sense to me why all the sudden he wanted the job!

The claim of him not be engaged is trash it's not the coach it's the kids. Coach Reid even had some of the administration set up a cook out to bring more of the kids to play football. I've even heard that Coach Ab won't allow any possible varsity basketball players to play football after Izaya Brown and Devonte Bennett were injured right before basketball season. Next time do some research before you bash him ask any of the players that have played for him in high school get back with me.

First thing here nobody has trash him or none of his players. When you are 1A school and have around 40 player with the talent Humboldt has you should compete in 1A. Like I am posted Reid is a good man myself have nothing but respect for him. No matter what you think Reid is not head coach material just that simple. He had no control over the kids at all none period! Cooks out don't win games taking control of your players wins game! Every post have read on this thread is spot on! Far as Coach AB he is right. why would he want to put his players in danger of getting hurt he knows that the players are out of control! Big mistake letting Bland get away he had brought Humboldt football back from the dead winning 7 to 8 games again he got some of Humboldt football respect back. 2013 all the players he coached on that team where Blands kids. And he let a team like Halls beat him no disrespect to Halls that should have never happen. I got a good friend in Humboldt EG that knows the program and what  is going on! After the 2013 season was over he had players that didn't even come to practice and he still let them stay on the team! I hope Humboldt can find a decent job after this season. Because meaning no disrespect but Shepard who got the job the rest of the year is also part of the problem. Lot changes need to be made in the Football program and just shut it down nobody wants to their team be the crap beat out of them ever game. Humboldt may not win maybe 2 games this or they may not win none! I am not bashing Reid just telling the truth and that hurts don't it!

Milan has historically had the best program year in/out in West TN football since the 1970s and during that time they have beat Trenton consistently for the most part.  However to say this isn't a rivalry game I have to disagree with in terms of location and familiarity.  And I also think this series has taken a definite turn in the last several years with Trenton's program on the upswing.  The last four years this series is 2-2, so I would say this rivalry is better than it's been in a long time

Listen I don't mean to get the Tide fans all upset. Peabody only has a average Coaching staff at best. That showed last year in a couple of big games. I would like to see Peabody play with Milan but just cant see it happening.

I think it was lack of talent more than coaching.  Good luck coach Reid from a milan fan.

No Humboldt has enough talent year in and out to compete in 1A on a regular basic. Talk to anybody out of Humboldt and they will tell you the same thing. Plenty of posters on Coacht have said and know this as well. Simply Reid was not ready for High School Coaching job.

    Humboldt City Schools Press Release

(August 21, 2017 Humboldt, TN) – Humboldt Junior and Senior High head football coach, Dorrington Reid Sr. has submitted his letter of resignation after serving four successful years as head coach for the Humboldt Vikings’ football team. He will remain assisting with the Vikings football program as an assistant. Coach Reid stated, “I have made the decision due to personal and family needs that need to be addressed.”  Following his resignation, Coach Joseph Shepherd will fill the interim position as head football coach for the remainder of the season.

Coach Reid has been affiliated with Humboldt City Schools for over 28 years. “Coach Reid has asked to step down from his coaching responsibilities and will continue in his other roles with Humboldt City Schools and we respect his wishes,” Principal James Walker stated.

Dr. Versie R. Hamlett appreciates Coach Reid for his coaching efforts that he has given to the students in Humboldt City School over the years. We commend him for his hard work coaching the Humboldt Vikings’ football team.

It came quicker than I thought it would. Hopefully they will find a good coach during the off season. Coach Reid is good man but no head coach.

The "one-legged" boys will still be looking for a butt kicking contest after week 2!  Based on last night's performance, they will crush poor Fayette Academy worse than JC.  TCA fans been sand-bagging and poor mouthing themselves.  TCA is LEGIT!

Looks like the Lions will be a contender in their District this year. In my mind it could be the toughest in the state in 2A. I know it is in West Tn no doubt about it. This will a District to be very interested in this year. Pretty darn good football teams in it up and down even GC has improved. Looking forward to it!

You may have inside knowledge but I personally dont see a split happening..For the reasons you stated..money at the game and schools are in same county and too close for fans..Believe they will keep the Stangs also. Not sure the Stangs have been any better the past several years than Trenton.

There is no doubt Milan will play Huntingdon every year its a rivalry. Humboldt and Milan will probably kept playing. But who wants to watch a stomping every year! Not me!

Milan wins by at least 35 points! My guess is they will be running clock by the end of the third quarter. Look back at last year Milan beat the snot out of Peabody. Milan is better than last years squad and I don't think Peabody is any better than last year. Milan just has to much depth! I don't mean any disrespect to Peabody. Peabody is no big rival to Milan anymore nor Humboldt. It is simply played for the gate that's all. Its not the fans who want to see this year in and out its the TSSAA. Milan biggest rival now is the Mustangs. In the near future some where down the line these teams will break ties. Even if you don't like Milan you have got to respect  the teams the Dogs put on the field every year! why because of great fan base support and always a good coaching staff. Humboldt and Milan and Trenton will break ties not Dogs and the Mustangs.

No disrespect to Reid. He was a great back when he played for the Vikings back in the 70's. One of the best in the state. He was a good Jr High coach as well. But high school football is totally a different level. He won at the Jr High level on talent alone which you can not do at the High School level. Humboldt has around 40 players and they have got talent all over the field. There is no excuse why Humboldt should not be able to compete in 1A.  They are simply poorly coached. Bad mistake when Humboldt let Bland slip through their hands. If Humboldt don't get a better coach soon the program will die just that simple. Again Reid is a great guy but is not head Coach material! This might make some people mad in Humboldt but the truth hurts. I sure there are plenty of Coacht members will agree with me.
