I will have to agree with ya on this one. You should discpline your players the right way, teach them the right way to play and encourage them...not cuss and rant and rave and humiliate yourself, the player and the school...but thats the way it has been for years. Matheson has, in the past, been the worst of all, haven't heard as much this year.

Thats what I have been saying all along. We have all the talent in the world but it's no good if you can't bridle that talent and make it work. They are for the most part a great bunch of kids and are hard working and are winners at heart. They do have a lot of pressure, some self made, to preform. But it comes down to: who has the say so for who plays? who has the say so for what defense is run? who has the say so for the offense? and so on...IT'S THE COACHING STAFF THAT'S WHO!! They are doing the same stupid stuff they did last year...the fans and even opposing people and even the players recognise that the 1-3-1 doesnt work anymore. A DECENT shooting team has a field day from this defense! Everyone can see this ...well except the COACHING STAFF. The game of basketball has changed over the years and good coaches change with it. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO ADJUST TO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS DURING A GAME!!! It's a chess match! COME ON COACHING STAFF--LETS STOP GETTING CROWNED! Give these kids some direction, change up some stuff, especially defense, get the ball inside a little more and for heavens sake stop all the dribbleing and pass the ball more. WE CAN OVERCOME AND BE CHAMPIONS!!!

Thats a deal!! I will meet you at the trophy case at 6:30 maybe that will give you time to find a stub that someone has dropped. Oh don't forget to sweep the floor at the half at least they will get something out of you!

uknoit2...talk about bashing! Leave the Jones kid alone!! He is a model young man and has a wonderful family too! You have NO business downing him...yeah he is another football player thats trying to convert to round ball. He is very competent of handling the point guard position and soon will. He isn't a selfish player either! Talk about fans in the stands...haha good one!!!

Oh whitenite I'm glad all the fans aren't like you...we wouldn't have a sports program...by the way when was the last time you actually PAID to see the Dogs play???? You're a real supporter!!

I surely hope they will be alright. I always wish them the best of luck! And I too am an avid supporter physically and financially!

Well well did we hit close to home? I'm not on here bashing any players and I don't have any kin on here. I have watched and played more basketball than most. No I'm not wanting a coaching job but couldn't really do any worse. As much talent as these guys have they probably could play street ball and do as good. So if you don't like CoachT and think it's so bad then why do you get on here and read it? I guess you're just nosey like everybody else...

Well Deputydog I in no way am or intend to bash any of the players. I hope they can win it all this year! And as for making excuses for the football players just getting limited practice, the Cyclone players played last weekend last Friday to be exact. They didn't seem to be out of sinc too bad. It all comes down to preparation. Thats where we are lacking and have been and will continue to be if things aren't changed for the better. We need more team play from EVERYONE and more players involved. I don't recall ever seeing a 1 or 2 man team that could beat 5. Selfishness can be stopped from the BENCH. Remember there is no I in team. And yes this time of the year the boys are learning many new things and are a bit hesitant or rusty but it still doesn't give the "coaches" right to jerk the players out for every little mistake and brow beat them down at halftime and after the game. A little pat on the back sometimes goes a long way something that isn't in JW's vocabulary, never has never will. Bottom line, he can't relate to the kids anymore! You got to give respect to earn respect!

TD youre exactly right...the Dogs need more motion or flex offense, but the problem is they don't have anyone to teach it to them. The old offenses and defenses (1-3-1) is so outdated that opposing teams are tickled to death to play against it. Just put a couple of decent shooters in the corners and you can have a field day. Hampton proved it last year. If we had coaches that were on top of things they would adjust or watch films and see what needs to be done. We also have a glory hog or two that panics if they dont get to shoot the ball every time down the floor. GOOD COACHING can fix that problem too. I noticed several times the big guys would post up and beg for the ball but no one wanted to give it up, especially #13! Your right also, what worked 30+ years ago doesn't work now. How many parents and fans would like to see a quicker paced game from Hampton, instead being 8 points down with 56 seconds to go and trying to walk the ball down the floor and set up a play that didnt work all night. If the boys are gonna go to the state tourney they are gonna have to do it themselves. They have the talent but they just got to play better as a team and yes it is early I can only hope they hurry and get things worked out. But guys be careful and don't make a mistake because that wonderful coaching staff is ready and eager to "jerk" you out of the game if you do!

OH IT'S NOT REALLY HARD TO FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH THE DOGS...Same as last year...it's the coaching staff. NO DISCLIPINE...NO DIRECTION...NO RESPECT EITHER WAY...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY...Just like some of the other coaches around the area, the game has passed up the BULLDOG COACHES!!!You are right about the talent, "all the talent in the world" but you gotta have someone to guide and coach the boys. Yes in the past White has done well but he has been blessed with some of the best talent in the state! What has he done with all this talent????? NOTHING!! He needs to give it up to a younger energetic man that really gets involved. Face it JW, your time has come and gone...please get out and enjoy life and your golf game and turn over the coaching duties to someone else. YOU JUST DON'T RELATE TO THE KIDS ANYMORE! STOP HANGING ON AND LIVING IN THE PAST. This post is not to offend anyone, it basically is an opinion but an opinion that is reflected by MANY MANY FAITHFUL BULLDOG FANS! We love BIG BLUE COUNTRY and would like to see someone take this talented group of boys to the state tourney...its been a long time coming (1960). So JW if your a TRUE BLUE DOG, do whats right!!

I agree that the boys on this team are all really great kids with a lot of character. Everyone has high expectations for them and I hope someday they will show everyone just how good they are. They work hard and they all want to win. I think the next two years these guys will be a force to be reckoned with. A few "tweaks" here and there, more "team" play, then look out! Wasn't looking for a scholarship, had to go to work and earn a living. But I assure you that if I had the opportunity for a scholarship, I wouldn't have squandered it and QUIT! As far as sitting on the bench , been there and done that. I know when it's time to give it up and watch. And really "mom" your little boy is the one that got on here first and was bashing the team. Go back and read about it. And yes I will be talking to Jerry about a lot of things not only basketball and I am pleased to inform you that isn't any of your business either! Oh by the way, I talk to GOD several times a day. Maybe you should take a little of your own medicine, might do you good!

I agree this team has the potential to put another STATE CHAMPIONSHIP board up in the gym. It has been too long (1960) since the last one. Hopefully they will work together as a "TEAM" and realize their potential and with great coaching, I believe they could go all the way. GOOD LUCK BULLDOGS! I'M BEHIND YOU 110%!!!
