  1. Thank you By the way which one did you miss? Houston or Brighton
  2. Thanks for the head start MrNoItAll. If you are not careful you will finished behind Stlbrd again and may not even crack the top ten. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
  3. Looks like NoItAll has made another friend. Didn't he and the "birdman" start off this way and now they are best friends. I just hope "birdman" doesn't mind sharing. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  4. I see where you can listen to the Beech/WC game over the internet. Go to ibn.ihigh.com and scroll down to find the game.
  5. I heard that this almost worked in the Rossview/Beech game. I agree that good things happen when you put the ball in play, but really good teams will find a way to win. NoItAll was correct about one thing, it doesn't appear that neither Midway or Coalfield has played a tough schedule and like him I will give the edge to Midway based solely on head to head. North Greene has a couple of quailty wins under thier belt which should help them when they play either of these teams. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. I'm with you MrNoItAll. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  7. The birdman won his duel with mrnoitall, but finished 2nd overall. The winner last year was westtn.
  8. Seemed liked last years contest started about a week before Districts. I curious to see if I can hang with all of the gurus out there.
  9. These are the teams from the west that will probably be in the Boro. DII large St. Benedict- Plays a tough regular season schedule, wins most of them. Been there several times before, but just can't seem to find a way to win the last game. DII small SBEC- a team that slipped under the radar last year and lost the state in the "if" game. Plays solid and is led its pitcher, a Memphis signee. A Trinity Chirstian- 2 state championships and 1 runner-up the last 3 years. Still has all the Renfroes playing. Huntingdon- Has one of the best pitchers in the west, could be trouble if they can stay out of the loser's bracket. AA Martin Westview- Good rotation in the circle. I thought they would run away with their district, but they faltered a few times. Covington- lost their ace from last year, but that hasn't seemed to slow them down much. AAA (this maybe a little harder to pick, only 2 of these teams will make it.) D13 Munford- Lost just one player from last year. Pretty good all around team. Brighton- Another pretty good all around team that I think returns the bulk of last years team that made it. D14 Bolton- Stuggled early in the year, but now seems to have found its groove. Millington- Playing better than expected, may sneak in. D15 Houston- Normally a D15 power, but had to beg to get enough to field a team. Still has a pretty good pitcher, Austin Peay signee, and with a decent pitching things may fall in place. Collierville- Good defense, good all around speed. The games they have lost have been against good pitchers, Huntingdon and Trinity.
  10. According to the TSSAA site the first round is at the higher seed, the rest of the district is to be played at Triple Creek.
  11. Heard game 2 was tonite. WC had a chance to secure a spot in MrNoItAll top 10, but apparently they are not on par with Beech.
  12. Nationally it's 24. I not sure TSSAA keeps up with HR totals for the season.
  13. all of districts tourneys are listed here. http://tssaa.org/schdir/tournaments/tourna...irls%20Softball
  14. Congrats to Beech. I saw where Owensboro Catholic was the #1 ranked team in in Kentucky. Great job.
  15. Coachcap commented that Beech wasn't very deep, but from what I heard the Beech's JV also won. I guess that they are deeper than WC.
  16. Trinity won both games, 3-0 and 3-1 (I think), E. Renfoe pitched the first game and a girl I'm not familar with threw the second game. I'm sorry I don't remember the other pitcher, I guess I was in shock that it wasn't a Renfoe.
  17. Congrats to Beech for being ranked in the USA Today/NFCA poll. Beech was ranked 23rd in the first poll of season which came out on 4/2/09. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Here's the complete list. 18. If this was directed toward me, then you couldn't be more wrong. I want to raise the standard of West TN softball. I know there are some very talented players in the west. The best all around softball player in the nation right now is Chelsea Bramlett, IMO, came from West TN.
  19. I can't stand basketball, it's rammed down our throats here, or soccer. I just wish we did a better job promoting softball in the west. We have some great athletes, but like I said before, they start playing bb as soon as they can stand. Soccer has become like kudzu, spreading everywhere and choking out anything in its path. There is just not enough choices for softball players. I can only think of two long running organizations for softball in the Memphis metro area, Collierville and Germantown. Which is why Collierville and Houston usually fields decent teams, but even these teams are having trouble as of late. Germantown HS used to have a decent team until the school board redrew the boundaries. If you want to go to a private school and softball is your sport, then you look to St. Benedict.
  20. Unfortunately we haven't had much to thump our chest about. TCA has done a good job lately, but when the Renfoes are gone they will have a harder time winning the big one. JTK is right about SBEC, but after this year their stock will go down. St. Benedict is probably down this year compared to the past, but they always seemed to be in the title game. The problem is that the other team in that title game will probably be GPS, which may be the best team in the state in any division. As far as talent goes, I believe that alot of athletic girls get into soccer, basketball, and cheer. These are promoted more and better in the west and we tend to do better at these sports when the girls get older.
  21. Because the competition, as a whole, is not as good.
  22. All I was saying is that year in and year out that those two teams seek out the best competition they can find as opposed to most teams in the west, not just when they have an all stater. I have yet to see either play this year and seen where both have been beaten. Lions4ever is proving my point. Camden has a good team this year and St. Benedict has asked to play them. Neither of the teams I have mentioned are not worried about their record at this point, they want to be playing their best at the end of the season. I also understand that budget has alot to do with where you play, but if you are going to only travel once or twice why not go play those tourneys that have the best teams coming every year. I want the West to get better. I get sick and tired of people saying that the West can't compete with Soddy, Beech, and Goodpasture. Let's go play them, see what they are doing, and start to bring some hardware home. No derespect to TCA here, they are and will force to recond with for a little while longer.
  23. Here are the teams scheduled to play in the Waverly and Franklin tourneys coming up. How many of these teams will have a legit shot at a State title. I see 2, Goodpasture and TCA. There are few other good teams in the field with some that can beat you on any given day, but let's be realistic, this is not even close to being top level competition as oppose to some of the other tournaments. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong, because I would like to see the West do well. I still think that some of the coaches out west seek the easier tournaments to enter, which is a shame, because there are some really good ball players on this side of the river. 24. You are right that the schools mentioned will play a tournament in the middle tn, but they pick the ones that the powerhouses usually don't attend, although Houston did go up to Riverdale last weekend. Whereas Bolton and St. Benedict look to play those powerhouses as much as possible. St. Benedict was at the Beech playday, stuck around for the Commando Classic. They have also in the past travelled all away across the state to see the teams in East TN and I remember a few years back they went down to Texas to play the #1 ranked HS team in the nation. Bolton is the same way, they were schedule to play in the Commando Classic and the Warrior invitational, plus they will travel down to Alabama to play the best teams down there. These teams play as hard of a scheduled that they can, which is usually why they end up at the state year after year and it doesn't matter who the players are. For the most part the teams you listed all play the same tourneys, facing the same teams with little variences.
  25. I don't think that the west is that into softball as much as the rest of the state. There is only about 2 or 3 schools that actively seek out the best competition. Bolton and St. Benedict are the only ones that come to mind that will travel to other parts of the state on a regular basis to play the best teams they can find. The rest are happy to stay close to home. I would be willing to bet that most of the west tn coaches don't even know about this forum.
