  1. Not me. Goodpasture wasn't a surprise, but I wouldn't have picked Beech and didn't know enough about Decatur Co. Congrats to all the winners.
  2. I think you're right about this one. My guess it's either Goodpasture or Lexington.
  3. No Riverdale!?! I sure you will catch heck over that pick. National ranked and a national player of the year candidate. I'll trust that you know what you're are talking about, however it wouldn't be my pick, but what does a west TNer know.
  4. The only "mutiny" was from some parents who were upset at lack of playing time for their children. First it was the old coaches were jealousy of the new coaches, now it's parents complaining about their princesses not getting to play. Parents have complained for years that their daughters should be playing, but very few coaches (none that I'm aware of) get fired for this, especially if the team is winning. But for sake of argument let's assume you are right. What guarantee do you have that new coaches would mean more playing time for your baby, none. The fact of the matter is the new coach was doing a great job. By who's standards? Don't get me wrong, winning is important, especially at programs like Beech, Riverdale, and Soddy. Which leads me to believe that the coaching staff did something so wrong that the Beech administration felt it was necessary for them to make the change before season's end. I'm sure that we will know sometime in the future what really happened, until that time I'm through with this thread.
  5. This has got to be the dumbest statement I have read. If this were true then why did Coach Woods leave when Kat and company still had a year to go or why didn't Coach Utley return a few years back when Beech had so many good players that some were on the bench. When pirates of old had a bad captain there was a mutiny. Apparently modern day Buccaneers are no different.
  6. Unfortunately there is not much to talk about. Only two maybe three teams out of the west have been able to consistantly compete with their sisters from the east and middle part of the state, Covington (AA)and Trinty (A). St. Benedict(D2)is the other school that may fall in that catagory. Every now and then another school will gets its hand on a decent pitcher and will make a run. As far as the teams that have already been mentioned I would keep an eye on Martin Westview and Lexington, I think both of these school still have pretty good pitching. Munford and Brighton from what I can tell will be the (AAA)representatives, but they just don't have enough to play with the middle and east.
  7. They finished third last week in a tournament held in Jackson. I think they are still a decent team, but lack the dominant pitching they have had in years past. Losing two studs like Ivy and Ellen Renfroe would hurt any team and I'm not sure that little sister, if she even pitches, is the same caliber. Plus they had a pretty good catcher last year who made have also graduated. I still expect that they will be back at state defending their title, but I don't think they will be the heavy favorites to win it again this year.
  8. The season is less than a week old and you have already ruffled someones feathers. You need to start keeping track of how many you can upset each season. I willing to bet you were close to 100 the past few seasons
  9. I guess Trinity Christian is no good. Collierville lost 1-0. How many other schools has held them to one run? Only 3 others out of 36 games. Do your research before you post. Still will be 2 and done. Sometimes I think MB would rather finish the season 40-5 with an appearence in the state instead of 25-20 with a state title. He got to be getting close to that 1000 win mark
  10. It won't let me pick except for the last 5 games on the list. Anybody else having this problem?
  11. It does seem like it's starting later each year.
  12. No Soddy or Riverdale. That will surely stir things up. My picks are Soddy, Riverdale, Beech, Ravenwood. Although I would love to see Coffee and Lincoln win.
  13. Whitehaven in the AAA!? They will be lucky to get past the regionals. I know that you don't know much about the west, but Whitehaven is a Memphis city school and they are on par with the metro schools. If I had to pick then I would put Brighton in instead. Arlington or Bolton have an outside chance. In the AA I will go with Lexington over Westview.
  14. This might be better in the travel section. When it does get moved I would add the age group and the name of the team looking to the post.
  15. Well the season is about half over and we now can see who are contenders and who are just pretenders. Here's my take on the best teams west of the river. (Since MrNoItAll is counting Camden now as a Mid-State team, I will leave them out.) AAA Brighton is definitely the big school to beat from the west. Although Collierville and its fans might disagree, they are still a step or two behind Brighton. Brighton still will be hard pressed to compete with the likes of Beech, Riverdale, and Soddy at the "Boro" and will probably go two and out at State. Pretender AA Covington looks to be for real with its only loss coming to Trinity. Don't be surprised if they win it all. Contender A Trinity Christian may be the best team in the state in any division. I think the only way they lose is if they they take their competition too lightly like they did a few years back.Contender D2 St. Benedict is probably the best team in the large class. They will make it past the sectional, but then its over for them. Pretender In the small class it looks like FACS and USJ might be the best in the west. I am not sure that either will make it pass sectionals though. Pretender Who knows, in a couple of weeks I may have to change everything.
  16. ...........still here. Keeping an eye on all your predictions and watching you get more haters each day. Kind of funny how much the truth hurts, but I don't have to tell you that. Rest assured that when you screw up your predictions, I will be there to let you know................ Are you saying that MrNoItAll hasn't been wrong yet this season? Even I have been wrong a couple of times already. I guess I still have some studying up to do before the big ones get here.
  17. Walker Valley vs Coffee Co: Although I haven't seen either of these teams I have noticed that Walker Valley is winning most of its games and I don't think things are going to change for this game. Loser Coffee Co. Well NOitall..Your off to a bad start.... I'm glad you think I know it all, but actually I"m more of a know it some. Yes I got this game wrong and like I said I haven't seen either of these teams play, still haven't. Congrats to Coffee Co, however I would be concerned about the number of runs put up by both teams. If I read the right then 23 runs were scored in this game which leaves me suspect of the defense for both schools. I also got the Trinity/Hueytown game wrong, but I'm happy that the TN team won, especially a west TN team. BTW who won the Riverdale/Camden game, I didn't see a score listed. It sounds like this was a very good tournament and for the most part the TN teams showed that they can play with just about anybody.
  18. Since NoItAll didn't answer I guess I will give it a shot. Beech vs Brock TX: Looking at the box scores from yesterday games it doesn't appear that the former 2A champs from Texas can hang with Beech. Loser Brock Camden vs Riverdale: Although Camden may be good it appears that an already good Riverdale is getting better with each game. Loser Camden Walker Valley vs Coffee Co: Although I haven't seen either of these teams I have noticed that Walker Valley is winning most of its games and I don't think things are going to change for this game. Loser Coffee Co. Dickson Co vs Forrest: I must admit if I had did this post yesterday I would have picked Dickson Co as the Loser Trinity vs Hueytown AL: This should be an interesting game. Hueytown always seems to be one of the better teams in Alabama and the same could be said about Trinity, but those Alabama teams are tough just ask Riverdale and Beech. Loser Trinity Goodpasture vs Martin Westview: Goodpasture is a little down this year and Martin Westview is one of the better teams from the west. This girls should be somewhat familar with each other because I believe a few of them are on the same summer team, but someone has to lose and that will be Martin Westview Cornersville vs Christian Co KY: One of the best teams out of KY travels south to face one of the better pitchers in TN. Since softball is a team sport I will say the Loser is Cornersville.
  19. Dear "Newbie" Thank you so much cause "Ole MrNoitAll" does have a little trouble with his spellin! Now I know that you are new and we are glad to have you but if you visit again and read some of my post you will no doubt see a plenty of words that may be wrong...but hey I know I can't spell I just wish people knew that there teams are not goin to be a goin to the "Boro" to play in the big dance! MrNoItAll was right. Those team he listed want to go to the Boro, but it's not happening this year.
  20. Fireworks are about to start. I got my popcorn ready.
  21. I believe you are right. I don't think Goodpasture or Science Hill were in the top 8. I think the top 8 were: Marshall Co Creekwood Riverdale Cookeville Austin AL Beech Hendersonville Clarksville top 4 Marshall Riverdale Austin Beech
  22. I am surprised that an "AA" school not on anyone's radar, at least not mine, plays in the championship game and takes it to extra innings to boot. Especially with Riverdale, Beech, and Goodpasture in the field.
  23. It doesn't appear to be any big surprises so far.
  24. Yep they call the house the other day and I missed the call but "Birdie" told them about our picks, you know I hate bein right so much.....but Beech is a lot better than that Goodpasture bunch you just wait and see, if you know what I mean! it's too bad that you missed that call because I know if they could have spoke to you directly, Tennessee would have had more than two teams make the list, no offense meant to Miss Birdie.
  25. Two of your top ten made the espn fab 50 preseason poll. Goodpasture at 18 and Beech at 26. http://rise.espn.go.com/Softball/Team-R ... Index.aspx
