  1. Karns was hard on Dees but if you'll check it out I believe you'll find that football wasn't the (main) reason he transferred, evidenced by the fact that he's not even playing.

If you know the Coach Morris story you'll understand why several players transferred to Catholic. I don't know what Catholic has at QB but I doubt that the freshman QB is destined to be The Man - he actually might have had a better chance to develop at Karns.

You're right about them being young and you're right about them being small but it seems like the overall attitude is different/better. The team chemistry is very important - the coaches have a part to play but a lot of it is a personal decision by the players. I think they'll win. 5-5; maybe better. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Not sure on your coach Morris thing seems much of the same, lets blame someone else for kids leaving, I disagree about the freshman QB having a better chance at Karns from my understanding Catholic had more than 15 college recruiters at spring practice, not that many from what I seen at the Karns spring practice and 5-5 is a bit of a pipe dream, Karns as been 2-8 and 1-9 the last two years with mostly senior players and you feel they can come in with a soph loaded team and win 5, I hope so but, lets be realistic.

I can tell you from the talk I here Dees transfered because of family issues, the reason he is not playing from those same people is because of the GREAT experince he had at Karns, and he is sour on football, only what I here.

  2. I thought the Dees kid was playing at HVA, big loss on the freshman transfer to Catholic. I have watched a few of the passing league games and the kids look to be small, I know they had a good season as freshman but this is varsity and from what I have seen so far this year will not be the one for a total turn around. The Karns faithful should have a lot to look forward to as these kids get experince under the lights.

  3. Looks like the AD has his hands full hiring coaches over the next few weeks. In the Marvyille fish wrap today was the girls softball coach resigning. In two weeks that's the football.....baseball.....and now the girls softball coach making tracks from WB. What's going on down there? Any explanation as to why the mass exodus? I know the baseball coach has been a known but who is next....Bauman?

Time to bring back the ledgendary Billy Padget....regardless of the sport.

Robert Revees is your man, knows the school the players the system, great hire for ya

  4. thats where the mistake is made, the calls on the field just highlightthe the thigs that are done in practice. I wish the team all the luck in the world and hope they can turn things around not trying to put false information out there but, after two years of the type of inconsistent play that has been on the field you kind of lose hope that its going to be any different when you make the type of change like I replied earlier.

Balleret, i think you are right on. this topic would have 100+ replies if it was any other school, no one really as input on how to make it better its been bad so long. maybe us Karns faithful will see a winning season before the school closes, or maybe when we move to 2-A. this wil be the first year that my dad an I don't buy season tickets, maybe that will bring some luck.

  5. I spoke to a friend today that said he was told that the Karns Freshman coach will be going to Harden Valley if he is not retained at Catholic. He said the guy was hired by Catholic coach and he was disappointed about the whole thing. maybe he will go back to Karns.

  6. Unless something's changed I believe the freshman coach went to Catholic to be closer to his son who will be a freshman there next year. I believe two teacher/assistant coaches may be affected by county budget reductions. There's some talent coming up from last year's freshmen but there are a limited number of upperclassmen with much Friday night playing experience as last year's team included 30+ seniors. It's really way past time for something good to happen to Karns. Hope this can be the year.

that is correct, was told that the freshman coach almost went to Catholic last year but was waiting on his son to make a decision on where he wanted to attend high school. Was he a teacher? was told that he is a pretty good guy as well as the other two that Karns is losing. it seems that 09 will be a tuff year young players, new district, and a reduced coaching staff.

  7. Despite what Irish fans think, Catholic is no real champions. They had their parents, boosters, fans, and coaches stir up a bunch of mess about those players getting into trouble at Austin East (round 3). I heard this from parents in the organization. In other words, they beat Austin East's JV/Freshman team in the playoffs thanks to their daddy(knox co. superintendent) putting those AE boys "in their place". Knox Catholic is the laughing stock of high school football. Ask any real champions who've actually earned it. You guys are so spoiled that you actually think that by undercutting Austin-East in the 3rd round, you did something to earn those rings? Please. I live in Johnson City and have heard people from inside Catholic boast about calling news reporters and people 'high up' in central office to get something done about getting the AE kids suspended from the game. Doesn't the vice superintendent's son play QB for catholic? That is shameful. In fact, I'm embarrassed for you. Good job fighting Irish supporters!! Keep the milk right on a comin' for the boys to drink. You want be able to pull that crap this year. Eventhough I'm sure you all will try if you get the chance.

I have always been told that LOSERS will find away to try an bring down winners, KCH did not have anything to do with those young men getting into the trouble they did and as far as them not being able to play it should have never been dicussed. I dislike Catholic as much as anyone but, they did win the 3-A title and as far as them cheating, well that doesn't even deserve a response. Science Hill lost to my Karns beavers in 07 barely beat them in 08, so to throw stones at programs that have success is nothing more than a LOSER trying to have a case that their team could do the same if they would cheat or if they had this player or if they did not get a bad call from the ref's or if they just had a new coach. Bottom line schools like Catholic will always be hated but when you point fingers in this manner you really try to take away from who the game is all about- the kids, and that is ALL KIDS,Catholic,AE,SC, or anyone that is trying to achieve the same thing every year.

  8. Yesterday I heard that each one that I mentioned had been offered the job, so while the source is pretty good, that obviously didn't happen. Your guess is as good as mine. The sense that I get though, is that our people think that they are close to wrapping this up.

The school had a list of coaches they have been offering the job and they keep getting turned down, I don't see a high caliber coach coming without being able to build his staff. It seems maybe the OR football program doesn't have the luster it had in the past, coaches like Gaylor Pemberiton aren't going to leave their good situation for uncertain furtures. OR good offer Pemberiton the job 20 times he has told the people at KC that he is staying, his interest was only for leverage nothing more. Don't worry guys the AD will find someone on his list that wants the job even if they have to resort to offering the job to the least likely one.

  9. Played back up to a very good junior QB ( Kyle Boden ). If he to play QB a transfer was his best bet. Did they move? I believe that the family must have a legitimate change of address.

He was a great JV qb his soph. year. Dees is a much tougher kid then Bolden and can play at other positions. Every time that Dees got into games on friday nights he drove the team dowm and scored. not sure on the transfer issue but, do know that he can play somewhere on the feld, brings great attitude.

  10. If Boden wasn't running for his life every other down, than i believe that Karns could have a decent year. I see this with alot of other not so great schools (for instance Jeff Co.)- They have the talent, whether it be in the school or even on the team, BUT the coaching stability is not there, the chemistry is not there, the offense is not right for the athletes they have, and what i believe is the key to football, they cannot control the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball. that is all i can do to help karns high school

If the RB would run, the REC would run good routes, if the DEF could stop anyone, if the special teams, well you get the point . There are a lot of ifs in everything on this team. The best thing that could happen to Karns would be a total revamping of the football team, starting with the coaches and then through the players until we could find a winning combination of player, coaches that could work together. not sure what the total answer is, I started this topic to see what posters would have to say, hoping that there would be alot of conversatin about different directions that could help; 700+ viewers with 25 psot, just shows you how the community feels about it, they don't and it shows with continued support of 30 + years of bad football.

  11. Wow, all these post about programs wanting to get back their mojo. I am a Karns grad that played there in the mid 80s never had mojo, the program was terrible then and it doesn't look much better now. Can anyone help this program? it seems to be worse every year, I guess with the new district Karns will have about as much chance to win as ever. Maybe some one on this fourm has some answers to share for some hope.
