  2.

You don't happen to know about how many Jo Byrns has do you? They were pretty decent last year if I remember correctly.

Is that LHP back for JB? I think his name is Stroud and he would be a senior this year.

  3. How do you guys think the season will pan out? Which teams would you rank as the top for the 2012 season?

I've heard that East Robertson should be good - bunch of returning players.

  4. If you take the time to actually go watch him play it is absolutely terrible. He plays the game absolutely wrong and I do not see how any college coaches would want the attitude that he takes.

I watched him play 20-30 games this past summer. You claimed to have seen him play one game.

  5. apparently Jimmy Redovian, shortstop out of BGA, signed with Wake Forest. I am not sure if there is any truth to this because I have seen him play one time and that is all I needed to see. He is one of the worst baseball players I have seen. He has a terrible attitude as a baseball player and is not at all a good shortstop. Surely someone had to have known somebody high up on the board at Wake. Im sorry if you think Im bashing the kid, but I am only being honest.

You apparently are a better judge of baseball talent than Perfect Game. Their analysis:

Jimmy Redovian is a 2012 MIF/OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Franklin, TN who attends Battle Ground Academy. Nice athletic frame, developing physical strength. Aggressive hitter, tall balanced stance, good swing mechanics, keeps his hands inside, line drive swing plane, hits through the ball well, has hitting tools. 7.07, balanced infield actions, soft hands, moves well to the ball, arm played better in the outfield but infield actions are solid. Good student.

    PG Grade: 8.0

A Perfect Game grade of 8.0 indicates a definite D1 prospect. And, yes, he did sign with Wake Forest. I'm not related to him in any way, but have seen him play several times.

  6. Does anyone know how NCS has been doing this year so far and have any idea as to how they will do this year in district? I graduated from there a few years ago and I didn't get a chance to watch them play any last year and have not made a game yet this year, however I did watch them play a lot whenever Hulan was there. I really enjoyed watching her play. Do they have any players this year that are game changers like Hulan?

Bailey Maddox (sophomore) scored 22 and 20 points in the last two games for NCS.

  7. "Friendship also returns a player that missed last year due to Tommy John, he was all state his freshman year where he went 14-1. He also shut down Riverside his eighth grade year in the state tournament when we took them to extra innings."

I am always saddened to see someone so young have Tommy John surgery. A 14-1 record as a freshman indicates a very talented player, but a young player with a lot of pitches for the season.

  8. Our pitchers mix it up well, and their styles vary. There's no telling who we'll pitch, as our rotation has changed as the year has progressed. We don't hit a lot of long balls, but neither does anyone else at our place....the blue monster is a formidable foe. But we have been a good hitting team this year. We hit a bit of a rough patch in the middle of the season when 2 of our starters, both pitchers, suffered injuries and were out for a few weeks. They are both back now, and we are playing pretty good baseball. Ya'll scouted our championship game with NCS Thursday, so I'm sure that your coaches will have the team prepared.

I know you all will bring a great team to Clarksville, and I am looking forward to seeing a good game. Perhaps we will meet at the game.

I was really impressed with the performance of CA's Brian Conn. He's very difficult to hit. I understand that he had never pitched before a few weeks ago and he held NCS to 2 hits and was the tournament MVP. Not fast, but difficult to hit, especially his curve.

  9. NSC Davis Flemming, Taylor Brooks, Nick Wess (Does he get to play this year)and more. Don't have any kids there but know the coach and have watched most of the kids grow up into great ball players. Good luck !

Yes, Brooks and Davis will be good, but what about Parker Lockhart (returning pitcher with most wins) and Cody Hartley (pitched on summer team for new coach)?

  10. Agree with Watson - verbal commit to UT and what he has done in the Sunbelt - that says enough. For Richmond - every time I saw him pitch he got lit up. I guess there is no where but up for him to go! Tough kid, though. I hope he does better this year. Throws hard, I thought he would have done better last season. Siegel has some up comming pitchers that could make a big impact on their season. The Pack Man, Simms (#2 last year?), and a Junior lefty - Taylor? should be in the mix. Good luck Stars!

J.C. had variable performances in summer ball, but he did pitch a gem against the Southeast Pirates: 7 innings with 1 run allowed. He had his stuff on that day. I hope he does well in the spring.

  11. thank you for your support. I am sorry the topic drifted. I am just proud of our kids, in all sports, and got upset with the earlier comment made about our kids (the chocolate iced cupcake statement). Please forgive me.

    sorry again.

No apology needed. Your reaction is understandable. Good luck on the season!

  12. This topic has drifted from a question about how the baseball teams are going to do in district 10A to an insinuation that all private schools have an advantage in all sports.

    What happened last fall?

McEwen beat NCS in football by 36-14.

    in men's basketball by 43-40 and 39-29

    in women's basketball by 54-30 and 33-27

Apparently, the baseball team at McEwen is not given the support they need. It's great that they can keep working hard and competing under adverse conditions. Their success should be measured by their hard work and dedication, not their record. I hope they have a good season and continue to improve. My hat's off to them.
