  1. I would not say Fury95 is head and shoulders above everyone else. :thumb: The only game played between them and Worth95, that I know of, was a 1-0 game in extra innings. It was a great pitching and defensive game. But they are a great team and are the ones to beat in 14u. But a big gap? I would have to disagree.

Lets remember that before the Fury 95 joined the Fury Organization they were the Chattanooga Impact. I think the record against Worth 95 has been very decisive.

Ok guys, yall win. Fury95 is head and shoulders above everyone else in 14u. I was just giving an opinion. There are other teams to look out for in 14u besides those 2 that might have a say in this. I thought you might want to see what happens before you boast. I didn't know I would hurt peoples feelings. But yall win. Jeeees! :thumb:
  2. yeah it is, but you always get one that has some lame excuse as to why they don't play ASA Nationals. The bottom line is, if you want to measure your team, measure them against the best. Worth 95 has a very good team and we look forward to competing against them for a berth to Moline. There are only 4 berths to Nationals so everyone cant go, i realize that, just hope its not us. By the way, if we don't go it won't be because we didn't try. For the earlier post Lady Aces moved up to 16U.

I agree totally and cannot wait for the chase to begin. :thumb:

  3. sorry if i implied we just went to ASA Nationals for the heck of it

    Fury 96 resume:

    2007 10U ASA Nationals 13th

    2009 12U ASA Nationals 5th

oh and we also were 2009 12U ASA Hall of Fame Champions

Is there another Tennessee team with that track record?

And I am sorry if we were talking about Fury96. I thought we were talking about Fury95 being head and shoulders above everyone else in 14u. I wasn't talking down about anybody for going to ASA Nationals. I believe its most teams goal to make it. I was just saying there is more motivation to chase a birth at this age and up. Just voicing my opinion on the subject. After all,we are talking about 14 year old girls. Not parents, coaches, egos or resumes.

  4. Don't think Worth 95 has ever beaten Fury 95. Saw Worth 95 go home very early in Gallatin this past fall in a tourney Fury 96 won. Fury 95 has picked up two outstanding new pitchers. This is the first time they have had legitimate depth in the pitching category. Those two teams should not be in the same category. Just my opinion which means nothing. I will say Charlie is a much better coach than Tad. LOL. Has Worth 95 ever done anything even a top 25 at ASA Nationals?

Have they played more than once? Like I said in my previous post, I only saw them play once and it was very competitive game. Not a blow out. So, until Fury blows out Worth or they beat them consistently, I do not see them being head and shoulders above them. Also, Worth has only chased an ASA berth once and made it, with a little help. Finished middle of the pack I believe. But they are a different team from then. As far as Gallatin is concerned, I believe every team has a bad weekend every now and then. Worth has also added more pitching, hitting and speed. They have more speed than any team I have seen their age. So I guess both teams are a little different than last year. Only head to head will decide this. I believe you will see more from Worth this summer in East Tn as they are chasing a birth this year. Because at this age and up, there are far more reasons to make it to ASA Nationals other than to say you have been there.

  5. I would not say Fury95 is head and shoulders above everyone else. :thumb: The only game played between them and Worth95, that I know of, was a 1-0 game in extra innings. 6. I was not mud slinging. Just stating a fact, playing usfa or usssa or usgfp or nsa all season then jumping into the ASA state tourney doesn't seem like a recipe for success in ASA.

I also just pointed out that ASA offers the player somthing extra (eposure to college coaches) when at the older levels that the other either offer none or very little. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I also never said that the only way to get better was playing ASA....YOU DID. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I also believe that with more & more exposure tourney's coming about that it may bite into the draw of ASA for some teams. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

    /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

    1. We did play in the qualifier in Hendersonville (by the way, played terrible), but I think we will do fine and have done fine in the past.

    2. Like I said, more exposure. But we are talking 14u. I do agree at 16u and up.

    3. Playing great teams on a consistent basis will make you better, not necessarily ASA.

    4. I totally agree with you there.

  7. I wouldn't waste the money to go to ASA Nationals at the 12U or below level. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I did explain the difference between what the player gets in return for their efforts at Qualifier's. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Most Kids playing still at the 16U-18U level are pretty serious. If they are wanting to take it to the next level ASA is the best vehicle to take them there.USFA can't come close & it doesn't cost a family any more money(maybe less) to attend an ASA National event than to go to play at PCB.

If a girl just wants to play for the fun of it at the 16U-18U level then maybe you should stick to DIXIE SOFTBALL instead of wasting money traveling around. I believe that is actually Dixie softball's moto. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

And lastly, this thread was about the remaining ASA 14U berths & we've gotten a little of track from that. Maybe you should start a thread about what organization teams should play with if they just want to have FUN! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

    /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

It is very apparent that you missed my point. I did not say that it is ALL about FUN. I just said its not ALL about EXPOSURE or that the ONLY way to get better is play ALL ASA. We got off the point of the thread because you started the mudslinging about playing any tourneys except ALL ASA. Also, I was not talking about the money you spend on just nationals, it was traveling to only ASA tourneys..Your points about playing ALL ASA were not justified in my opinion, soooooo, I guess you got a little touchy. Playing ASA does help you get better, but ultimately the athletes get better by preparation and dedication. Winning is a reward for that dedication. Competetive softball is supposed to be SERIOUS and FUN. It has to be fun for the athletes or they would not put in the time it takes to be the best they can be. Also, why not play in ASA nationals at the younger ages,if in your opinion, that's the only way to get better? In conclusion, I do not think they would let us play Dixie Youth.

  8. Your right there are good teams in any tournament but the bottom line is that the top teams play ASA for a reason! The reason is that ASA Qualifiers offer more to a player that just a $4.00 trophy. Yes the tournament directors in all of them are trying to make money for themselves.(And that is obvious) But trying to "Qualify" for an ASA berth means alot more than just "Buying" your way into a usfa or a usssa world series. If you have ever been to both you know what I'm talking about, 16U ASA Nats- very big.. lots of colleges present...... USFA W.S. - basically just another $4.00 trophy awaits the player all the while you've paid ginormous prices for a week in a condo to play softball. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

USFA will continue to thrive, they do make good warm up tourney's prior to a qualifier. If there is not a berth at stake in an ASA sanctioned tournament teams are just playing for the same thing there as they would be in a touney sanctioned by USFA.......a $4.00 trophy. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

    /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

And please tell me what it is that you get from an ASA tourney that's different? I have been to both, but I have not been to the 16u yet, so I cannot comment on that.. Sure ASA nationals are fun and play some GREAT competion. But, they also scam teams into buying their insurance, EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE TEAM INSURANCE, with their fancy ID cards. Plus, not many of us can afford to travel to east TN to play ASA all the time. There are just not many ASA tourneys in middle TN, so don't hold it against the teams. Sure there are college's represented at their tourneys, especially nationals, but they also attend other sanctions nationals also. The last time I checked, all you get from ASA is a $4 trophy and a berth to their nationals. Not a lot of difference. So, what I am trying to say is, the whole purpose in most of these young ladies playing is to be the best they can be by playing the best competion available and still have FUN without their parents having to take out loans. It's not ALL about getting the most exposure, it has to be fun also. Their young, they need fun also. After all, is that not what we all want.

  9. Playing in a bunch of alphabet soup tourney's all season then jumping into the ASA State tournament doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

N.Ga.Mustangs and Fury 95 should be the favorites to win the 2 remaining berths.

I believe, contrary to your opinion, we have been pretty successful with what our recipes have cooked up so far. Also, Hunter is right, we are not trying too hard for a berth this year, but it only takes one to get there. So, God willing, maybe we will be fortunate enough to get it in July.

  10. Fury '95

    Nashville Cruisers

    Knoxville Lady Aces

    Knoxville Thunder

    Explosion

I would not count out Worth 95 even though they are a young 14u team. They have not played their best yet this year. They will improve mentally and definitely have the talent, it just depends on when they hit their stride.

  11. We also wish Lauren a speedy recovery from Lawrence Co. And I feel for Kayla. Accidents do happen and I personally have seen and heard of way too many head/face injuries over the years of being involved in fastpitch softball (This is about the 10th time and 4th time in the past 6 months). The ball jumps extremely fast off these latest technology bats, and no matter how quick your reflexes are, things like this will happen. I urge all parents, coaches and players to PLEASE wear a face shield when in the infield. It is mandatory for my children and our travel teams. The kids are sometimes ridiculed for it, but they are safer for it and become numb to it in a very short time. They do not even notice it after a few practices and the "Game Face" does not even obstruct their view, it even helps them keep their head down and focused on ground balls without fear of being hit in the face on a bad hop. This mask does not protect the whole body, as nothing will protect against all injuries, but does protect a very vital part of the body where very serious injuries can happen in a flash. I do not push this brand and do not work for them, it's just I haven't tried any other brand.. So, for those of you that make fun of young ladies wearing these protective masks, I want you to remember times like these and make every effort to make things as safe as possible for our athletes. I hope I did not offend anyone, that is not the intention of this post. I hate to see things like this happen, and maybe this post will help eliminate a few future accidents.

Good luck to Lauren,Kayla and the Warren family.

Good luck to everyone this season and be SAFE

  12. E O Coffman (Lawrence Co) should be pretty good this season. They have a pretty solid pitching rotation with, I believe, 5 travel ball players. They should be able to hit pretty well in the top 5 or 6,but not sure about the rest. Defense will need some shoring up from what i have seen. They lost a great leadoff hitter with blazing speed from last year and 1 other good bat, but thats all. They were pretty solid last year only losing to Summertown, who was stacked with a lot of 8th grd talent. They will definitely need some help from the 7th graders this year. They only had 14 or 15 tryout. WOW!!! But they still should be the strongest team in Lawrence Co.

As far as travel vs league or school ball, I believe not only are your travel ball players getting a lot more reps, but the coaching is a lot more experienced and organized than school or league. The practices at most travel teams, like the Comets, Worth, etc., are a lot more intense, organized, planned and detail oriented in instruction and teaching the game than most, not all, school and league practices.
