Fortunately it is not a poll that determines who plays for the championship so take it for what it is worth.

Good point! Very good team. Definitely forgot about them.
In the 5-AAA matchup:
Walker Valley 8
East Hamilton 0
It is early in the season, so games can go many ways. A fellow poster may have jumped the gun on East Hamilton in this thread, or maybe time will tell that he didn't. Too early to make out anything yet.
Funny what a rivalry win will do for you! And you are definitely correct about early! Appreciate you taking a stab at things where no one else did.

East Hamilton 10-4 over Oolt. 8-1 after two innings.
East Ham will be one of the best hitting teams this side of Baylor, again; Kelsey Payne, starting off healthy this year, is set for a big year....Once again they do not have a strikeout lockdown pitcher but another senior who throws strikes when neeeded and will get outs if they play good defense which should keep them in most games...good to see Nelson get a bit of comeuppance after the way she was ushered out of Ooltewah...And Chattsoftball may want to adjust his/her rankings. OHS is probably going to struggle a bit this year.

Coach Nelson has been hired at East Hamilton but will strangely continue to teach at Ooltewah....should be interesting....East Ham moves up to 5 AAA next year but it is certainly a different landscape than previous years.

A serious rivalry game between Chester Co and Lexington to go face GP for the championship...that game this morning should be entertaining as both teams hit really well. Unicoi also had a good team. I don't know Greenbrier's history but they looked a little timid this year...like EH last year when they made their first appearance in Boro. It makes a difference having been there before.
-
Wild game between Unicoi and East Hamilton with Unicoi tying with a two run homer top of 7th then loading the bases top of 8 only to score no runs. EH then loaded the bases in the bottom and won on a squeeze...

East Ham 8 Bledsoe 2

East Hamilton has graduation Friday night so the game is being played Saturday morning.

East Hamilton 3 Meigs Co. 1
-
Actually, they did play in last year's sectional.
-
A school down the road has an opening next year, one that still has a shot at state this year...would be interesting to see them bring her on board... She is somewhat a victim of the dilution of talent with that same school robbing Ooltewah of some of their talent base.

Whitwell beats Grace and East Ham beats Polk tonight....any other scores out there? Hixson - Meigs or Bledsoe or Upperman scores?
-
Remarkable how many times that kid has moved just in time to play.....It certainly helped to have a good new pitcher come in too. They still have to score enough and theyre doing it.

Region Semifinals are Monday, Region Finals are Wednesday and sectionals are next Friday.

East Ham 3 Hixson 0

Apparently there was more drama in the Central dugout last night too as their senior star shortstop did not play after the 4th inning against East Ham. This after proclaiming to be drama free in a TFP article last week. Ahsame for the senior girls on this team as the last two years they should have been playing much deeper into post season.

6 AA
East Ham beats Central in the winners final...then once again Central loses the next game only this year to Hixson. So Central is out. East Hamilton and Hixson square off Thursday evening at 5:30 pm
7 AA
Bledsoe handily defeats Sequatchie 11-1

If the goal is to become a college player, why separate your daughter from the rest of the pack in such a manner...It would tell the college coach to inspect the parents, to check the kid's attitude, or to bypass completely instead wasting time. If the adversity of high school is too much, how is this kid going to possibly handle college ball?

Marion and Arts & Sciences in A, both have a good chance of making it.
I'm surprised Soddy-Daisy has dropped off so much, even after losing a dominating pitcher. She was their only senior from last year if I remember right. One other player went to Sale Creek but I don't remember how much she'd played at Soddy.
Have you seen how well Nunley is pitching at UK? Good stuff. Hard not to drop off from that.
-
Interesting that you would pick Chatt Central after they lost to East Hamilton a couple of days ago on their own field....the same East Hamilton that was at state last year....Having said that, I think Bledsoe and Upperman may both make it and leave the Chatt city teams at home this year....Okay this is my AA picks for State Tourney
Unicoi, Gibbs, Chatt Central, Upperman, Goodpasture, Camden Central,Lexington and Dyersburg.
There are gonna be some really good games in the sectionals but gonna have to go with the experience of playing in big games.

So GPS beats Soddy and East Ham beats Central....Now what? There is a bit more parity after Walker Valley and Baylor...With the watered down pitching this year it is tough to even attempt to rank these teams...glad they decide it on the field!

A google search shows last year's came out around July 24....
