  1. How did Indy do against Riverdale last night? Before you go off on me - here are the games so far this year: Indy beaten by Riverdale Ravenwood beaten by Siegel Ravenwood beaten by Blackman So, If I were to pick a District to be in, I'd pick yours if I were any of the above mentioned 7AAA teams. They seem to beat up on themselves over there. Someone earlier said something about Franklin/Ravenwood/Indy being the District 11AAA front runners - they would be a middle of the pack team in Murfreesboro. It's not a slam on your district but also 7AAA gets watered down after you split school zones - will we ever see a super team like the Oakland teams in the late 90's again?
  2. Where do Moore, Hull, and Coley play. I know all the rest and they are are very good players. Moore - Oakland, pitcher/1B/OF. Pitched in District games last year as Soph Hull - Oakland, OF/2B. Good 2 strike hitter. Coley - Siegel, Pitcher. Deceptive. Not all are D1 - you can be the judge but all should play some sort of college ball somewhere. They usually play late summer and fall together as most are tied down to their school teams in the summer. Bummer!
  3. A summer 2011 team that is loaded with tallent is the Murfreesboro Diamond Dawgs. Lineup : Griffin Moore, Chase Fann, Micah Hull, Stevie Smith, Alex Vohndolen, Zander Weil, Dylan Toscano, Jake Todd, Jake Little, Austin Coley, Tyler Fullerton, Mookie Betts, and some others that I've left out. Go see one of their games if you want to see middle TN's finest. Good group of young men - many are being recruited by D1 schools.
  4. Agree with Watson - verbal commit to UT and what he has done in the Sunbelt - that says enough. For Richmond - every time I saw him pitch he got lit up. I guess there is no where but up for him to go! Tough kid, though. I hope he does better this year. Throws hard, I thought he would have done better last season. Siegel has some up comming pitchers that could make a big impact on their season. The Pack Man, Simms (#2 last year?), and a Junior lefty - Taylor? should be in the mix. Good luck Stars!
  5. County or City money - no difference. They got the money to upgrade the facilities for the Spring Fling and unless you pay their "donation" fee, you can't sit in the stands above the consession stand (unless it is during the Spring Fling). Question - if Oakland gets to the Fling and is playing at home, then do they run out the non-Oakland people trying to watch the game?
  6. David, You are correct - if the money was given for spring fling then yes, folks have a right to be upset. My question is how is this any different with the city giving Oakland $50,000 for facility upgrades and them charging for seating above the concession stand? I don't live in Murfreesboro so my taxes didn't go to building the stands - I can't "officially" complain. I did call last year and talk to Mr. Childress about what was going on over there and he stated that they could not do that. They have and will continue to do as they please as long as no one complains during the regular season. And no, there shouldn't be an additional charge to sit up there weather it is a booster donation or a game fee. Would you have to pay more to sit in any of the other facilities in Rutherford county? I like your idea for the facility use on Saturday. Would there be a day of rest for the athletes possible? That would help pitching staff arms greatly.

And I was stating that both teams would benefit greatly if the teams were split 2 ways vs 4. Your ignorant to not think of those benefits. Now that the name calling is over, can we just discuss like normal people would? Your well informed and know that Siegel and Blackman haven't had the appearances that Oakland and Riverdale have - they also haven't been around as long as the other schools. See riverdaleman's post.

    Your right - a combined Siegel/Oakland team would get beat by current Oakland team! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

My boys don't play at Siegel and I pull for the Stars as long as they don't play us. How do you judge twice as good? Top to bottom lineup wise Siegel has great hitters. They are comming around in the field with all players off suspensions and such now. They had to come from behind last night per my contact at the game - wish I could have seen Carter pitch against Barret. Looks like District 7AAA will be another banner year from the Murfreesboro teams! No wonder Riverdale and Oakland won so many state titles before the addition of Siegel and Blackman. We Metro schools don't have a chance!
  10. Can you tell me who started on the mound for each team? Sounds like I missed a great game! Another thread told how Oakland got their runs - how did Siegel score?
  11. Same pitch as Sonny Gray throws at about the same speed. Fast overhand curve ball if you will. Reason you probably haven't seen one is you close your eyes when your back behind the plate?! Kid was wild though - hit three batters in a row. Question - if you hit three in a game, is it an ejection per TSSAA rules?
  12. Not a problem but a blessing in disguise. Two deep at just about all the positions. Yes, David can hit the curve no matter what Tmac says. Coach isn't crazy but has many options to go with. Ryan pitched their ace and #2 against us throwing curves and we saw a pitcher from Ravenwood that had a wicked 12-6 slider - we did fine against him. We'll see tomorrow! Good luck.
  13. Good points Blazeputerouter! Coach has to go whith what is available at that time weather injuries or other issues arrise. I'm glad our coach is trying to stop the nonsense. It is a great opportinuty for the backups to win the spot outright.
  14. Hey - we all are on here to speculate and it's all in fun or was until you decided to cut us to the quick - lighten up! No one is trying to tell the coach what to do. I've said it too - best 9 on the field. We speculate "what if" to have something to discuss. When some of the boys serve their time, then we (coach) may need to move players to get what he wants. As far as the other statements yes the outfield is "OK" we see moving players around to allow for the hot bats and gap stopping speed. As for the relay - did you see it or hear of it? That play is like turning two - if the ball is thrown behind the player accepting the relay, then the play is basically off. The throw came off balance and not on line - almost a throw to second vs left center to home line. The player had his back to home plate - the play at that point was dead. Did you see the hits you're referring to? Enough said. Both young infielders had hits too - remember? They will do fine in their rolls. And the big bats - Siegel can go 1-9 with homer power - very few middle TN teams can say that.
  15. What I hear is from my friends over on Thompson Lane - they keep me filled in. I do still have a soft spot for several on the team. They look good from what I've seen so far this year.
  16. 7-6 Lavergne. Watson started out on the mound and was on a limited pitch count - left the game ahead 3-0. Next three pitchers had some walks and an error or two and a hit here and there - next thing you know it was 7-3. Pitchers did their job but the strike zone seemed to dry up for us. Positive was Siegel rallied with their backs against the wall in the 7th. Kosinski hit another 3 run dinger and may have tied the score if not for a bad call on C. Taylor - fouled the ball off his leg fair and the ump didn't call it. Wo-is-me... Did I mention I don't like loosing?
  17. Did he strike out the side with the "3 finger" change up you are famous for?
  18. Hey Southpaw - I think I know you. Was your SEC school MSU? If so, then can we put some of that Soph success on the DD coaches shoulders? I agree that the Oakland Soph have plenty of potential - we've just dominated them in the past when they were Central and in Fr ball. Now with that said, your coach has the uncanny ability to flip the "on" baseball switch of his kids. Not sure why or what happens but they are different their Jr / Sr years. By far, the kids from Siegel on your summer team must have pushed you over to greatness....LOL! Yes, that group you speak of is one that will be playing together for some time I hope. What happened in the previous mention of Soph. players not including Hull and Monaghan (sp)? Both were bound and gagged, then taken from Siegel to your facility and brain washed into wanting to play ball there... We're looking at video recordings now to prove our case. Another player that can play as a 16 yr old is the McDonald kid - he's a Junior. Another one that was woo'ed away... All this is in fun so don't hate on me! Now - could someone give me the lineup from last night so we can start our arm chair coaching break down?
  19. I'll agree that you have some talented Soph. but not like our Siegel guys! When your guys take the field, they are scarry big! Can you run down the positions for me? I don't know who to discuss...

Glad to hear the good news. Yes, I like that lineup but would like to say that Dove is also a good #2 hitter with his bunting skills and ability to hit behind the runner. I would agree that this would be a great lineup though! You know what? I was really worried about today but I've heard that the Stars fought from being behind and with good pitching and hitting, we were able to put Columbia without key players. I'm glad the younger guys stepped in to fill their rolls. Great job today!
  21. I wasn't following Oakland baseball in its glory years but have heard of the stacked talent they once had. I have observed that Oakland is in the "rebuilding" year but not much talent to pick from now that the four Mboro schools have taken and split it up. Your team is young this year and has potential with your pitching. Can you fill us in on who started the opener tonight?

Make a deal with you - we won't wear our Siegel gear and you can sneek us in past the crabby old guy that keep running me off!

Sorry to hear about your illness, TheMick. How is your young man's shoulder? Will look forward in watching him soon. I started a thread about Oakland baseball and no one has chimed in as of yet. Should we go over there and talk to make their thread interesting? LOL - that aught to stir the pot a little. All these other games mean nothing until next week!

Yes, Southpaw, we can talk baseball - er, it will just cost you a season pass...

One - we've paid for the seats and shouldn't have to do it again. They wern't paid for by Murfreesboro to have Oakland make money off of them. Two - no logic in your example - you can use the field if you clear it with Coach - just like the D-backs did. By the way - I started a thread for Oakland so we can talk Oakland baseball there.
