Looks like everything went as planned tonight. Uc vs lake co and greenfield vs vibson county thurs. Expect another uc vs gc matchup in the championship. What y'all think?

Welcome to class a ball? Talkin to a team that won back to back 2a state championships in a district where THIS union city team would have to fight for 3rd place. Ok you better get your shots in now cause next year will be a totally different story. You guys are very good this year and are definately the best team on this end of the state. But let's not get too out of hand

I would like to hear from the union city faithful as well. As GC said most of you said that it would be worse this time with Amber fair back. Giving us no chance. Now I believe we will have to play near perfect to beat y'all as you are definately the better team. But I think it will be a much different ball game this time with our young girls at home and having much more experience.

I agree. I guess if you want to look at the bright side of it the freshma Allie Smithson wouldn't be getting near as many minutes and the experience she is getting. She is a completely different player than she was at the beginning of the year now. And no one will out work her on the defensive end. Really looking forward to tomorrow night. Will be a good test on his much we have improved

I completely agree. As far as I'm concerned we have overachieved up to this point this year. Especially after losing our starting point guard right before the season. Getting these young girls a trip to the boro will be huge getting them the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and everything. No One was really expecting these girls to come out to a 23-1 record. Great job by the coach to have these young ones performing this well. Especially the two freshman.

I think at this point it's a pretty good bet that unless either of these teams slips up bad they will be headed to the boro. They are both dominating the competition and outside of maybe going to Middleton in sub state I don't see anyone knocking them off. Anything can happen in postseason but I just don't see it. The closest game gibson has played since Christmas was a 15 point win at greenfield which is not an easy place to play and was the worst first half we have played all year. Was really expecting a closer game with Obion last night. And union city is rolling through as well.

The table is set after gc handled Obion county by 20+ tonight. Their only loss is too union city earlier in the year by 18. Looking forward to this being a more competitive game. Will be #1 vs #3 in the state. What's the opinions of everyone?

Gc what you think about the Obion county matchup tonight? Should be another competitive game I believe.

Good game with greenfield tonight. They came out with an attitude and hit the lady pioneers in the face early. Went up 11-3 I believe. Was tied at the half and I believe with about 5 min left in 3rd greenfield was up 5 points. We really turned the pressure on and ened up getting some space late and winning by 15 or so but it was hard fought. Was proud of our girls for battling early adversity and fighting for a win. This one will help down the road. GCPioneer what did you think about this one? Would like to hear greenfield opinion as well

Gibson beat halls tonight 75-39.

You sure seem confident. Not saying it is going to happen at all but both of those teams have very good weapons and can beat anyone. That being said the state championship obviously goes through jackson co until they no longer have a chance. Looking forward to the postseason

Ready for the stretch run. The next 2 weeks for the lady pioneers will be a good test. They seem to be starting to really gel at the right time and clicking. Hopefully it continues as we have halls, greenfield, westview, union city, Obion county all in the next 2 weeks. It will be a good test.

Gc I was not there and was wondering how they did! Sounds like another great game. Our girls may be peaking at the right time

Pretty big upset with halls beating greenfield last night. Didn't see that one coming. Was really hoping greenfield could be the strong third team in district.

Gibson looks to be hitting their stride. Another 30 pt won over lake county tonight. It's good to see them come out of the slump and improve to 20-1. Gc or anyone else that is there tonight what did y'all think? They seem to have it clicking right now

I agree with you. And you are right about GC future there is a lot of young talent. The 7th grade class may be the deepest and most talented of any yet. It is loaded with talent from guards to post. A lot to look forward too

It's really a change for gibson county. A couple years ago they were playing one of the toughest schedules in state every year. This year we have scheduled tough games out of district but it hasn't helped a ton. We have won 3 consecutive games by 35 points. That never happened even when we won back to back state championships. It's really tough on the girls I think as well trying to stay focused when you're up 44-10 at half and stuff.

Gibson county looks to have gotten out of their slump just in time. They probably played their most complete game all year tonight. It was Bradford, but they completely dominated the game from start to finish for a 64-24 win which has been a problem all year. Erin Lannom has gotten her strike back and The Smithson girl put in another 8-10 pt performance and looks to be gaining confidence which is what this team has lacking all year. They need her to be able to come off bench and score. The 2 seniors keep doing what they do. Hopefully we will build off of this.

Union City is the best team in district. But I believe you are way off base saying they are head and shoulders above everyone else. Gibson co has a good coach and talent for him to use. I will be very surprised if they don't give union city all they want as I see them playing likely 2-3 more times this year. Our coach will have a gameplan for you.

Gc what did you think of the girls against humboldt? Looked much better to me. Also, were you surprised by the freshman coming off bench and leading team in scoring? I don't know much about her from last year and there wasn't a lot of hype about her coming in. Just wondered your opinion on her. She definately gives 1000 percent while on the floor.

Gibson Co looked much more crisp and focused last night. I know it was humboldt but that was the most dominating performance I believe I've seen all year. Erin Lannom got back on the groove but cara Beth holt struggled. We need to get them two going at same time. What was really good to see was the Smithson girl come off the bench as put up maybe 14-15 pts. She looked really smooth and comfortable on offense last night. She could be a missing piece with the way she plays defense. Nobody will play harder than her. GcPioneer have you seen this from her before or was this just a lucky one game? The last 5 played entire 4th quarter and she facilitated for other and scored herself several times. It was good to see

There is a big difference in practice and live games that mean something. Not saying she won't step right in and take over but some of the union city people could be disappointed becaude they are expecting her to just absolutely dominate as soon as she gets back.

What is everyone's thoughts so far on who will make it to the boro from west tn in single this year? My guess is it will come down to union city, gibson co, greenfield, Huntington, and Middleton. I know Huntington is undefeated but not sure who they have played. I will go with gibson co and of course union city.
