Indy SHOULD win big in this game on senior night and to capture the district championship. Yes indy needs to get healthy but also needs to use this game to get back on a roll before the playoffs start. Seigal deffinitly exposed the weakness and where to attack this stout D that yes they still do have. But just proved that this D can deffinitly have an off night which could potentially end in an upset first round. However i believe Dyson will get them straight and they will make a good run in the playoffs with a great D and if they can limit there turnovers.

Lets see if the loss helped them, not only did the face problems on offense they havent run into during the year but for the first time they were caught off guard on defense and the Stars offense was run to perfection. Dyson has to see mismatches for DB's and their wide outs were obviously taller but still Dyson was blinded by the QB draw/option plays too much to see that. Two of the touchdowns the D allowed because of the mismatch on height. Defense crumbled after wards with the QB ALWAYS taking the ball on the option and the line and backers over persued either the ball carrier or the wrong man.

Lets see if Dyson and his team more importantly learn from their mistakes, Ravenwood who knows maybe impliment some of those similar plays but at the same time the odds arent in the Raptors favor.

I said it because I do not know how Indy's kicker handles pressure. I know how Siegel's does.

As for field goals only pressure he has had is one game winner a couple years ago but since nothing too hard for him, but as for punting he lost a handle on a punt but recovered and pootch kicked it down to the 1 yard line. Call it lucky but yes pressure he can handle. Lots of people underestimate how a kicker can help out teams not only in field position but having an outstanding defense really makes the opponents defense have to play their best.

Dyson and the other coachs have the boys ready went a little extra during practice yesterday in the cruddy conditions to get them ready for friday, not only that but these kids just move on from last week and focus on the next one. Honestly I have seen improvement in both qb's decision making, yes they more than likely take a sack but since week 0 both #18 and #6 know to tuck and run when the play is broke or if the pocket is coming in not to rush a throw, they'll take a sack. Again its the little things why they are successful.

Dont be suprised if Indy wins big.

Committed to University of Kentucky. I do not think he'll be a field goal kicker in college but he'll a defenses best friend when punting the ball inside the 20 on a consistent basis.

No? The crowd was super loud at the B.A. game in 08 but from then till 09 we still showed up and supported, and the reason i said the last year was weak was because it was true, their seniors last year weren't on the same level as in the past.

Why in the world would Independence want to do a white our for a home game? Franklin will be wearing all white. A white out is only smart when the HOME team is also wearing white. Ignorance.

 

This is for sure going to be a great game. Independence is always a hostile place to play, but not one of the best in the state. Ravenwood years ago was great, and Indy can't hold a candle to The Pit in Lincoln county, Alcoa, or Maryville, or any of the top Rutherford County teams. Just another glance of Williamson County vauntedness.

 

As for the actual football game, it's on like Donkey Kong. Rumor has it that the Indy coaches pulled a "Eubanks" and painted a sign and hung it on the fence over there. Way to go, that will win you the game

 

I made my prediction early in the week. This will be a low scoring game, Franklin will come out on top, and Indy will try to pull their tricks with special teams.

 

One last thought, when you're the daddy high school of the county, you don't copy anyone.....they copy you.

Why in the world would they do a white out? It is a little thing called tradition the school does for the biggest games since 07, trust me ive been to Ravenwood and Rutherford county games, yeah I agree Ravenwood ONCE was great but only when their team was great. I dont know about Maryville or Alcoa but I'd love to say in Middle Tn, Indy Nation has been the best since 07 BALLIN', we traveled and always out yelled the other section, btw playing at Lincoln County is a joke now a days nice try.

Don't mess with Indy Nation. Diss our past coachs, diss our jerseys, diss our stats, diss our records, but never think twice about the Indy crowd. It has got a little smaller in the past year but this year with the team success they are back and the Centennial game was the loudest they have been since B.A. game in 08. As for tonight they should be rocking the house.

Sorry that was part of my old senior year trash talk coming out of me now back to the non-biased journalist I want to become. As far as the running game, it will be crucial for both teams. Obviously anybody who has gone to Indy games has seen that the run attack is the best part of the offense. Passing has not gone their way this year besides the touchdown against Brentwood that helped Indy win. For Franklin it is easy to see that everyone they have played, besides Symrna, prepared themselves only for the senior qb. Thus letting the Rebels running backs having only 5 or 6 people in the box at points and creating running room. Indy's defense has to sceme their way to victory with blitz packages and putting people in the box when they need to. So far they have done that very well, but only against average offenses.

Keys for Independence - Shut down the rebel offense early, get a couple td's early to get the confidence up and push Franklin back with bad field position (which nobody ever takes into consideration).

Keys for Franklin - Be able to run the ball for good gains and do it early in order to set up the passing game later in the game, defense do not give up big plays, don't make stupid penalties and play solid, smart and sound defense through out.

Indy - yes I knew they were going to good on defense this year , but to date they have been outstanding...

I applaud INDY for what they have done so far, BUT ...but a few things still make me think -

 

Did they catch Blackman sleeping in week 0 ? No the defense stood toe to toe vs. the I-train and they should have won the game

 

Did they catch a break with a brentwood team that overlooked Indy ? ( keep in mind Brentwood has been scoring alot of pts of late ) I will let you answer that one....

the defense is for real , and it will make INDY a tough draw for any team come playoff time

 

HOWEVER as good as the INDY defense is and Foster being able to kick 40 plus yard feel goals at will IT can very well lose a first round playoff game 7 - 3 ......

 

They are doing a good job running the ball by commitee but dont have a featured back that can hurt you - AND the REAL SCARY part is thier QB play ( passing ) to me this will be INDYS downfall when they play FHS

All i really have to say is if they end up at the worst 7-3, or what ever record they get going in after the final 3 game stretch no one will want to face them in the playoffs.

The schedule is super super favorable to Indy like you said with Page, Coffee county, Lincoln Co,(even though all of the match ups are easy to answer why the scheduled, old rivalry, homecoming, and finishing deal from scheduling a series a couple years ago) they get a good balance of great teams in the beginning to get themselves started and end so they don't get lazy or fall of track. Its not the hardest schedule but it doesn't have to be in order to get them ready for the playoffs. Which playing Franklin, Siegel and Ravenwood should do.

Guys like any team or way a season goes you can only know if they are for real when the season and post season are over with. You can, however, get a good idea from the team what their strength & weakness are so far. And maybe you can answer the question after seeing them play their last three games.

You are wrong. Last week an Indy poster said Centennial struggled against a weak Overton team and got beat by them. Overton faired much better than Indy did so I guess that makes Indy worse than a weak Overton team. I find it hard to believe that anyone from Indy would ever say another team is weak. How quickly we forget. All of these Indy fans are so happy.....enjoy it while you can. You have only played one good team this year. How did that one go for Indy? Everyone is saying how stingy the Indy defense is. They haven't played anyone with a real offense. I may eat crow on this one but Indy will lose to both Franklin and Siegel and probably even one more team they should not lose to and fall to 6-4 on the year. They may make the playoffs as a #3 seed or even a wild card but will quickly be sent home for the holidays.

I watched the film from CHS vs Overton and saw the Indy vs Centennial game. Centennial has improved greatly now does that mean Indy is for real no the Indy offense gave away too many turnovers and thus caused their offense to score easily. The only thing Centennial has is athletes for their wr's and cb's which kept them in the game. If Indy can get the qb's and wr's connected during the rest of the season then they can very well go to round 3 I think. Defense wins championships but a interception giveaway offense ruins a defense.

All im going to say is Smyrna has had more competition to 'practice' against than Franklin. Hopefully your Bulldogs will learn more from their tough games and come prepared, who knows maybe you'll catch them unprepared.

Franklin should win this week, and building off getting ready for their next game, they better play at their level instead of playing at your opponents level.

Centennial's offense this year has had a hard time, so far, on scoring against defenses that aren't so great. So i'm thinking Indy will pitch a shut out or give up at least one score. Give Indy props, I thought Indy at best would of been 2-2 so far this year and they are easily the biggest darkhorse so far in 6A going 3-1. The offense improoves every week and the only way Indy loses if they just completely don't show up and over look the Cougars.

Crawford always knows how to bounce back from losses, but Indy always seems to give Brentwood a good game. Seeing how Indy has a pretty stout defense this year and from someone else saying Crawfords offense is conversative, thats very true, also both Brentwood and seeing how Indy's offense is also very conservative this year, big play ability will be the key to win the game.

Lots of inside running and spread options coming from Indy the past two games and their pass protection seems better but either qb (#18 or #6) seems to find a target or feel comfortable inside the pocket. If Indy puts more plays rolling out of the pocket for a pass then I could see them moving it more down the field throwing. To be quite honest, Indy's secondary is actually pretty weak in terms of getting spread out on long throws, underneath routes and posistioning themselves to help stop the run. If Brentwood can find the zones to pass through and make it past their linemen and linebackers then Brentwood can see an easy victory.

Honestly just because of comegetsome's ignorance I hope Centennial will win, maybe they won't this year but down the road Centennial will compete with Franklin. Rector is going to build up the program, remember the old saying Rome wasn't built in a day.

At the same time Franklin fans better hope the Franklin team that played in the first half of the Hendersonville game won't show up.

Lots of trash talking on facebook between Page students and Indy students, looks like 5 years wasn't long enough to see if tensions were still high against one another. My Sisters went to Page and I went to Indy ha this should be fun to watch, not only the players but to see if students fight before the game.

Did Indy still lose? Yeah they did, i'm proud of the guys standing tall, sort of, to the top running back in the state, and with seeing that performance on Offense in the first half -2 yards and saying they should of won against a team who basically lost their whole defense. Should of won is a lot different than them actually winning. And ugly win is still a win. And also why did you guys think Indy wore those practice type jerseys, did they sell their old ones?

You should have gone to Franklin or Brentwood from what it sounds like, did little Timmy not get any playtime! Your a disgrace to your school! You should be so proud!

You must of not understood me/must always think people on here have a biased view of schools. *if you don't know what biased means look it up please* I went to Indy, and no I didn't play football, 'little Timmy' here didn't get playing time for baseball, lol. But anyways what I meant was that Indy boys, like most senior guys in high school, always are stuck up and blind to anybodys team and think their team will win. Trust me I felt that way when I was a student, I was proud of the friends I knew on the team and now I am proud of the players I do know on the team. Don't get me wrong I liked going to Indy (It is just a whole other story about Dr. Campbell and Dyson) but once you graduate and see the current seniors talk about how awesome your team is and how they are going to 'wax that a$$' when they 'beat' Blackman and their 'overated running back', you can't help but laugh and think dang was I that stupid my senior year? lol I probably was, because I was young.

Welcome back District 11 fans (if there are any out there?) football is almost here and as part of the High School Football Preview with what the Tennessean is doing this week they released their thoughts on D-11.

They of course picked the usual Brentwood and Franklin in the #1 and #2 spots, respectively, the only real question is why are the other schools not improving? Why is their such a lack of power outside of Brentwood or Franklin? Each year 3rd place is just there for the taking and usually promises a berth in the playoffs. I guess you can say it is just not as exciting as it used to be, having Ravenwood and Brentwood duking it out like in the early part of their rivalry, or Franklin and Independence fighting for what used to be a rivalry, now taken by a joke to most Franklin players, students and fans. Or Centennial having their one flash of greatness in 2008 only to be denied a good run by of course Brentwood. Is their hope of something different happening in 2011?

Can Centennial be on the right track to be a top team? Brian Rector, former Ravenwood HC, coming back to coach in Williamson County this time as a Cougar this time trying to rebuild a program to compete with the Bruins and Rebels. Returning with some knowledge at the college level, maybe his 42-22 record with the Raptors can give Centennial's new program hope of a future with contending. Centennial also now having two former HC's as Cordinators adding to exprience with coaches Tom Shuman and Jason Eubanks (who are two coaches that are better off cordinating).

Ravenwood on the other hand trying out yet another HC from Indiana Joe Rietveld, where he went 51-48 another mystery hire by the Raptors in hopes to find that spark they need to get back to contending, on the bright side their offensive line looks to be stacked with 3 seniors and 5 linemen over 6-5 280 pounds.

Don't get me started with Independence and Hillsboro. Indy still trying to bank on Kevin Dyson being the kind of coach they need, its a shame to say what everyone knows "He is a great guy just trying to give back to the sport..." But he isn't the right guy for the job, as of now at least but Dr. Todd Campbell is to blind to see that. Who knows maybe he'll have a better bunch of kids this year that actually want to win and win big, seeing how this years schedule is child's play compared to last years. It's also kind of sad to see in the Players to watch column seeing Independence's only player is Landon Foster... their PK/P. At least Cent, Rav, and Hillsboro had main position players on the list but thats not a good sign Dyson.... So Hillsboro well yeah good luck Amiri Hawkings, you'll need it.

Leave your predictions, expectations, big game watches, ideas, players to look out for this district below and hopefully we'll see some magic or maybe a couple of upsets happen in the district this year.. Eh I doubt it. Have a great season, peace.

Dude Summit going to state.... bump all da haters

What... Any ways it was announced today that Summit has gone past its expectations of 500 or so students in two classes, 10th and 9th grade, with 650 or so. I doubt Summit will get a win untill next year when their Juniors will be a little bigger and have a year of getting used to varsity football. I think its a smart move to put them right into varsity, not so big of a class or division to be overwelmed by size or athletism. Watch out in 2013 though, everyone knows what happens with teams from Wil Co. when they finally get seniors on varisty squad; example, Ravenwood & Independence. Hopefully just like those other two schools I hope their success does not ware off. Its a real nice looking school, I live right down the road from it I would deffinitly want my kids going there instead of Indy. Good luck to the Spartans.

You know why we don't stick out with stats???? Because there are so many different players making plays. So you better listen to me. You hear? You hear? this defense is good and I can't wait for Friday!
