  1. This game was tied up at halftime. Houston County played hard, but you know what I've seen it last season and again this year their coach just beats himself. He has the talent and the ability but goes about things in the wrong way. I'm just sayin.
  2. Roper had 25 points against Merrol Hyde, 21 against Montgomery Central and 15 against Cheatham County. I too am looking forward to see how he does against the Smith brothers. The Starting 5 for HC will have to play most of this game and they all will have to be on fire to beat the Academy and it will still be a tough battle. Their coach likes to pull from the bench too early and sit the starters for longer than he should, if he wants to win this game he needs to let them play as long as they can.
  3. HC has 3 really nice size post players, guards are tough, and a talented deep bench. They will be really hard to beat. But agreed everybody can have an off night.
  4. Heard Roper broke his hand in Tuesday's game. Wonder how long he will be out? Bet that will do some serious damage to HC's offense.
  5. Is McEwen playing in any Hall of Fame games or have any pre-season scrimmages?
  6. McEwen...really? I'm curious to know what made you add them to your list?
  7. Coach is Daryl Cox he was there last year but the transistion was a little rough. His level of play was higher than what they were used to and it took them a while to get to where he wanted them to be. No, Skelton graduated. I think Roper, Monroe and Featherstone will be key players.
  8. Don't count HC out of the race. They have adjusted to their new coach and I see them surprising a lot of people this year.
  9. Seriously? I watched their varsity team get hammered by 20 by Overton's JV team at MTSU last week. Really.....Overton 1,654 students Houston County 452 and you think they got hammered if they only lost by 20, even if it was their JV. Yes, #55 is Jonathan Roper and #42 is Tyler Monroe. Both boys are seriously looking to play college ball but haven't committed to any one.
  10. O.K. Who is going to be in last???? East Robertson didn't win this district last year...Houston County did.
  11. What are your predictions for District 10A this year?
  12. Does anyone know who they picked for all tournament team? And where can you go to see who got All District if they have announced those names yet?
  13. I was at both HC games in Santa Fe. I graduated from HC, played sports and have lived there most of my adult life. I'm going to have to say that yes, there was definetly some officiating issues in the Hampshire game. The fouls were not evened up until late in game. I'm also going to say that I agree with lawdogs original post about the situation with our two players that recieved technicals #42 (Skelton) & #10 (Hammond) both boys have been playing long enough to know the consequences of their out bursts. I also feel that Mr. Skelton was way over the line and should apologize to his teammates for his behavior as well as be punished not only by TSSAA but also by the coach. I do not believe the technicals the coaches recieved were justifed neither of them displayed the kind of behavior that justifies technical fouls to be called and believe me I've seen some really over the top behaviors from coaches. As to the remarks about the crowd, yes some of the HC crowd was not acting as they should have, and I can honestly say that I did not approve of some of the things the crowd was doing when Mr. Skelton was receiving his technicals and being removed from the game. The crowd needs to realize that even though they felt thier player was being treated unjustly that his behavior was uncalled for and the technicals he recieved were justied. There are other HC players on the team that were just as frustrated and upset but controlled their emotions and finished the game, whether they fouled out, finished the game or supported their team from the bench.
  14. Yes, Long Time Coach L.C. Baggett has decided to retire. Assistant Coach Mark Beal also announced that he would no longer be coaching as well. Does this mean that Houston County will get someone new or could the position possibly be already filled before it's even posted?
