  1. Hmmm.. I'd say 99% of the time (in high school), if you're good enough to hit multiple home runs and you're able to get on the HR leaderboard, you have a very high average.. and probably one of the highest, if not the highest, average on the team. This is far different from college or the pros.. where EVERYBODY has the power to do it.. when you're able to hit 10+ HRs on the high school level, if your average is below .300 then it's probably a misprint.

Just sayin.. I believe it is an extremely important stat if you bring into consideration your teams opponents and field measurements (excellent points made above), but there are not many, if any, mendoza line home runs hitters at the high school level.

  2. Hmm... they cared enough to beat you tonight. Good try though. Final WC 14 PTown 11

Good game tonight boys. Hard fought game and just some stupid calls and stuff like that. Wilson Central is the most disrespectful team in this district. They earned the win but showed poor sportsmenship after the game towards Portland and the coaching staff.

Dang, when does the excuse well run dry for Portland? Bad calls, former coaches, injuries, playing bigger schools, inexperience, other teams playing dirty.......wah wah wah :thumb:

No.. what he was trying to say was that once the horn sounded to end the game, about 10 WC players ran over to the Portland sidelines, ripped down all of the cheerleaders signs and screamed obscenities at the crowd/sidelines. It was really painful to watch and made me sick to my stomach. No class at all.

  3. yea I herd it was 12-0 (its not football season yet, that score can't be right)

Anyway must be the coaching (two different coaches exact same result) so it must be the coaching and not the players.

Still waiting to see the new panther team

    (seemourbutts) your post earlier: { thanks for opinion thats incredibly insane and uncalled for. danny thompson was a great coach, but the last couple years was burnt out. he has moved on and i have great respect for him. coach parker is turning this around. they got beat by white house both times but were competing. dont comment on something u have no idea about. ptwon is going through a transition. and half of this i have no idea what u are talking about. so just shut ur mouth, get some facts, and come watch the boys play.}

Boy I hope coach jimmy boy parker is not already getting burn out like your last coach did. (Why do you think he would have gotten burn-out in the 1st place?)

    phs strawberry st. champs 09'

Well in the last couple games, we really found out how good we were. And it's no secret, we need some work. The players here are gonna work hard and we're not gonna quit. We've started off poorly and you're right, the scores so far haven't been pretty.

So go ahead and keep trashing us. I'm gonna keep my mouth shut for now on. Hopefully we'll turn it around, and we'll make you eat your words.

  4. the guys on the team that are not playing because they have no family that are friends of jimmy, past school mates of jimmys or just don't kiss up enough aren't having a great time....

That's not true.. and since I'm one of the players that's not playing, I think I would know lol

He plays who he believes gives us the best chance to win. It has nothing to do with politics.

  5. By the way, are you a player? If so, what are you doing up at 1:00 am the night before a big district game? Does Coach Parker know you are up posting on message boards at 1 in the morning when you should be getting your rest? Maybe this is our problem! Just focus on the game, man and.... GO BEAT BOBCATS!!

You're kinda drifting off topic, but I got 7 hours of sleep last night.. if you must know..

  6. Thats whats wrong with phs the "athletes" want to talk about changing things but nobody does anything thing about it.

Your entire spill about our team's dedication is hilarious. Honestly man, you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. I can promise you that the players here are dedicated and motivated to turn things around and get back on track. There is NO WAY that you can seriously know some of the stuff you're saying unless you have inside information or you're involved in this program.. and since what you said isn't even close to whats really happening, it's pretty obvious that you're just pulling these "facts" out of mid-air.

And also.. I believe that the subtitle of this post is "Improved".. not "Future State Champions". After spending 2 years losing by 10 runs every game, COMPETING with teams such as Hendersonville & White House feels pretty great. We've improved a lot over the past few months, and we shouldn't let ANYBODY tell us that we can't continue to improve.. noott even you.

That's all I'm gonna say about it.. Just know your facts man.

  7. I'm excited about the greenbrier-portland rivarly...2009 version! These two teams seem to put together very interesting games, especially the past 3 years.

I know what you mean! It seems like every time we play, something happens. Heated arguments, controversial calls, etc.

  8. Fields in Middle TN by class:

    AAA- Oakland, Riverdale, Blackman

    AA-Creekwood, Goodpasture, Page

    A- Friendship

FCA? Really? I've played there and it seems really old.. REALLY old. Its a decent place to play but like I said.. everything was practically molding lol. The grass needed to be cut also.. but that can easily be fixed.

I've played at Goodpasture too. I love the hill in the outfield!

  9. 1. Goodpasture - They lost a lot, but these guys are always loaded.

    2. DCA - Experience, experience, experience.

    3. Portland - Things are turning around and the entire team is back.

    4. White House - It will be interesting to see how well their rotation will hold up after losing so much.

    5. Greenbrier - This is the team I know the least about in this district. I'm just going to go with everyone else on here and put them about 5th.

    6. Station Camp - They lost everything.

  10. I don't think I said he played them in the past. I said he gave them ample chances to prove themselves. Unfortantly in this case, he had younger kids that could produce, and older ones that could not and made a change, which may have cost him his job. No excuse. Just facts. I also know it can happen at the public schools as well, but not as much. I see parents trying to do it to me every day. Good coaches don't allow this to happen. That is why you see so many kids transfering to other schools so much now, if the administration stands behind their coaches. It is also why you see coaches not stay at places as long now days as the did in the past. Where is the loyalty to the coaches? I see kids leaving us every year because of this very reason. It really doesn't matter that he was winning in a weak single A district. You can't blame him for that, they were winning. If you saw where he brought the BBS program from, you would appreciate what he did for that school. Most people do, some don't, which is ashame. As a BBS alum, I was very disappointed that we let a great Christian man go because of the obvious reasons. I would have loved for my son to play for him. It is extremely hard to get quality Christian men to teach and coach in a Christian school because they can't compare to public school pay. When you have one that had dedicated his teaching and coaching career to that, and be hit between the eyes, but expected to stay there to coach football and teach, it is a hard pill to swallow. Another thing, never question Parker's ethics. He is as fair and honest of a person you will ever meet and will give every kid the opportunity to prove himself. If the kid can't perform, he is not afraid to make changes. Also, make sure you know the man before you make a comment about his ethics. He is one of the greatest Christian men I know. Favoritism or playing certain kids because of their status will not happen. They will have to prove themselves worthy to be on the field. Portland is headed in the right direction. Let's give Coach Parker a chance before you start questioning him. The wins will come, maybe sooner than later, but what kind of work ethic and character is going to instill in these young men. That is the most important thing. Good luck to Portland and Coach Parker.

I completely agree with that. Politics and baseball shouldn't be mixed, and it's great to hear that Coach Parker feels the same way. Portland Baseball is heading in the right direction, there is no doubt about that.
