  1. At least this coach has game experience. Good luck to him. I hope he can stay a while and help us build our programs in Cumberland County. New blood is a good thing.

    Welcome Coach Kefauver!

  2. I agree that the Cumberland Co BOE has not stepped up and provided any of our '2nd Tier' teams a chance. No support at all. The fields on both high schools are nice, but that's it. When they decided to split the schools they diluted the sports teams talent pools and both schools have struggled to recover. The majority of the population is retirement age and most don't give a hoot about our sports teams. Being said, CCHS baseball has had some stability by having a head coach stick around and work hard at building his teams with what he has. KUDOS to him. I hope Stone can get it solved, but it will be strange of having both the teams in the same district.

  3. There are two pools. Pool one has CCHS, DeKalb County, Gordonsville Rhea County and White County, while pool two has Cookeville, Stone, Knox Central, Lavergne and Carter.

  6. :thumb: Best Wishes, been there done that. Not H.S but 18 and under, some things you just can't change. The key is, not useually the coach, but the talent level on the field. 1 or 2 or 5 good players are going to make a great difference. It takes a Team to be winners. A coach in H.S. does not have the ability to instruct ALL the girls in 6 weeks on how to play ball at the H.S. level. It takes caring parents, $$$$, kid willing to spend that extra summer playing travel ball on a Quality team, while there friends are at the beach or where ever living the sweet life. Pitchers it is year round. No exception. Again good luck. :thumb:

Thanks for the thoughts. The players were not the big issue, 7 of the starting 9 were multi-year travel ball players. Lots of time and money spent. Softball is a year round sport anymore as we all know by now. A coaching change was needed, don't want to go into details. We have great facilities, an established Booster program and a feeder system in place. Good crop of returning players and incoming looks promising. We just need a coach with experience and dedication to get to where we want to be.

  7. The good ones are not worried about the big $$$$$ they just want the support from the administration to the parents.....! There are plenty of great coaches who are doin it for the love of the game, the $$$$ is just extra. :flower:

Well, if you know of one, send them our way.

  8. I guess it is getting harder to find quality coaches anymore. The love of the game, the love of teaching and watching players grow and be confident in themselves should be enough to compensate for the enormous amount of time spent trying to accomplish that. We all wish we could pay the big bucks to get a good one.

  9. Great job ladies! A lot of great athletes and girls on this list. Getting to play at the next level is something that very few people accomplish.

In looking at our options for our college expenses we are curious as to how much a typical scholarship is worth ($1000 per year, $2000 per year, etc). If anyone would be willing to share that information it would be greatly appreciated. Also just include the actual athletic scholarship money and not other financial aid or grants. Your help is appreciated.

I think it would depend on whether you are a pitcher or not.
