  1. If I'm not mistaken does the school board not have to post the job before they hire. I don't know if it has been posted but I know that it is not posted on the school board website or TSSAA website. So if that has to happen they will not be able to get a coach in by January unless they get moving.

  2. The word i hear is B.W Holt came back from North Carolina last yr cause there was rumors going around about Stubbs health. And he was spotted on the sidelines on a couple of nites this past season and before.Theres a couple of other peoples names that have come up.Daniel boone's head man,Jeffcounty head man,MorrisTownEast head man,Knox west assint,Clintwood(VA)head man,2 guys from the state of Florida,1 from N.Carolina and S.carolina,And 1 from Kentucky. And the person i got this from is a real good source.and he says there still coming in.But right now this were the most notable ones.Should be pretty fun to watch and see how it turns out.Hope they get someone that fits the school and the kids and the city of bristol,tn.Im sure they will, that way NE tenn doesnt loss anything as far as teams. We already catch HECK from everybody else outside of NE Tenn.

There are a bunch of good coaches on here. You now they will have some tough choices to make on this one. I heard also that an assistant from Tusculum has applied. That may be another one to throw in the pot.

  3. They have the job posted on the BTCS website with the closing date listed as June 7th. But unless the job is listed somewhere else I have to wonder how many could possibly even know about it in that short timeframe. I'm sure most coaches and assistant coaches in the area know about it due to word of mouth, but I'm not so sure about coaches from other areas.

Thanks for the update. Maybe someone can update on the applicants. Keep us posted.

  4. Can someone get a list of applicants? I saw that they all went to the prin. and who does he share those with. It seems that there is a reason that he wants all the applications, to hire who he wants and does not want to really look at applicants. I have heard there have been a couple of applicants that would have done a good job there but heard nothing from anyone in Meigs Co but I am sure they will find a good one. Good luck to Meigs and the new coach!!

  5. Chaz story. TC

Good luck to Chaz, he gets to stay home and will probably be a good fit for what TC does. Good luck to Willie hope he makes the grades the rest of the year to give himself a chance. Has anyone heard anything about BJ I heard he had a chance to go to TC on a "great offer" but did not and has no other offers. Is he trying to walk on somewhere and if so where would he go?

  6. While the coaches should "help" where and when they can, it is ultimately the reponsiblity of the student-athlete and his family to find the right college and continue their athletic career.

It's really pretty simple. If they're really good (a top prospect) they are not going to have to do much to get an opportunity. If they're not they really need to be honest at what level they can play at.

There are approximatly 482 colleges across the country that offer athletic money in football and another 235 Div III football schools. Point: Don't eliminate all the possibilities.

Market yourself as if your looking for a job, because in college sports it almost is.

    1. Develope a cover letter and resume.

    2. Develope a highlight dvd. Most will want game film at some point.

    3. Send it too as many schools you qualify for athletically and academically. 75-100 is not unreasonable.

    4. Follow up with all coaches you send it too and continue to follow up.

    5. Search the web, there are sites that will let you upload your information for free and that will give college coaches a link to go to.

But remember it is the student-athlete and their families responsibility. Your coach can talk about you when contacted and may have a few contacts at a few schools, but remember they are recruiting the student-athlete, not the coach.

It would also be good to send a copy of their transcripts and ACT/SAT scores with the film. They have to be able to get into school. I would guess that is the second thing a coach would look at after seeing if the kid is good enough to take a chance on. The other thing I would add is not every school is D1 and do not get to give out full scholarships to players. Some D1AA players only get some money and probably most D2 kids would not get very much as they are expected to come to school and earn scholarship money. Just my 2 cents worth.

  7. Rumor has it that Tony Lambert has been named the new head coach at Scott County High. I would just like to wish him luck and say a thank you to Coach Shannon for all he has meant to the big red. He is a class act and expect the same from Lambert. Wish the Highlander the best.

TL is a class act and if he is the HC Scott should continue to get better. Good luck!!!

  8. Today I learned that Joe Case has applied for the HC job.

    Lamar Brown has applied.

    Rodney McCash has applied.

An assistant at Rhea county is interested. He was an assistant at Maryville before going to Rhea County.

And so it begins. It seems you have some good inside knowledge. How long do you see this process taking? Winter workouts and spring ball right around corner should not be to much longer.
