    Tuesday, March 30

    Lincoln Co at Oakland, 7p

    Riverdale at Columbia, 7p

    Siegel at Brentwood, 7p

    Thursday, April 1

    Blackman at Coffee Co, 4p

    * Riverdale at Smyrna, 5p

    * Oakland at Lavergne, 7p

    Shelbyville at Siegel, 7p

Wow siegels schedule is no joke. These are all good games, riverdale v columbia and siegel v brentwood will be interesting ones. Also oakland v lavergne... thats a tough call but i would go with lavergne taking the win or a tie game.

  2. Wow, what a turnout of events over the last couple of weeks! Although no teams from the 7AAA district advance to the state tournament this year, we can always hope for the years ahead due to bright futures of all the teams. Riverdale, Siegel, Oakland and Blackman all have tremendous young potential that will hopefully shine in the coming years. All teams will suffer from the loss of outstanding seniors (or an exchange student or 2) which will make the future more interesting and unpredictable. Any last thoughts of the great season this year or the future of 7AAA as we enter state?

(and a BIG congrats to Columbia! Represent the region proud!)

  3. I understand the whole "cheering for the team that has not been there yet" or "let someone else win for a change" but the facts remain, good coaching, good players and lots of heart has put Riverdale in this position again. Weather is a variable that cannot be controlled. When Riverdale decided to play on Monday night last week (scheduled day) people cried foul. Now that they cannot play due to weather people are crying foul. Sunday is Mother's day and Monday is the night before a knock out game. Siegel will get their chance and they may win against Riverdale but we cannot change things that cannot be changed.

I would say that Siegel has just as much good coaching, good players, and heart as Riverdale has. From last year's season to this year's season, Siegel has made a complete 180. And I think that when people don't support a decision of naming Riverdale as the district champions, it is not because of sympathy towards Siegel. It's fairness to a team that worked just as hard to get in the same position as Riverdale.

  4. Its unfortunate that there won't be a championship game, because as I said earlier Siegel is probably the only team in the district with a realistic chance of beating Riverdale. But to think a PK shootout should be used to determine a winner without playing a full game and overtimes makes no sense. One of Riverdales biggest strengths is their stingy team defense. In a PK shootout the team with the most offensive scoring weapons should win, especially since its 1v1 and they don't have to deal with defenders. Again it would have been a great game to see, but a PK shootout is not the answer.

I agree with MJUHB as both Riverdale and Siegel should take care of Franklin Co and Columbia and play for regional title on Thursday.

    Good luck to all

I agree 100%. A PK shoot out really isn't a way to determine the champion and hopefully Siegel and Riverdale will meet again in the future. But does anyone know if there will be a district champion now? Who will the trophy go to? It would make sense to give it to Riverdale due to their undefeated season, but that would be unfair to Siegel in many ways.

  5. Blackmen has had a conflict with a football scrimage or something so siegel is supposed to hold both games but by what i have heard siegel is trying to get riverdale to host thier own game to save thier field

I have not heard anything about this.. do you have reliable sources?

  6. Agreed, so who does everyone think will win the district tournament this year.

Honestly, this tournament could go any which way. Before the season started who would have thought that Siegel and Oakland would place above Blackman in the final standings and that Cookeville would only win 3 district games? Every team has talent, but its a matter of who performs at their best when it matters most... and every team is capable.

  7. Yeah it is Strikers 94 that was my fault. They did play in a state championship game this last Select season because I was there and the team that beat them was playing at their home complex so wherever that was. I went to all their games this last year and I know they were in a state championship. At what level I'm not sure. But it is exciting to see them all play together. And actually, we still do have at least a few that will be freshmen at Riverdale next year off of that Strikers team.

As for futbol20, it's sad to hear someone say that they wouldn't be happy to have any of those players. They are definitely missing something. The point is that at least 7 or 8 of those Strikers will be playing the next 4 years for the Strikers and Riverdale seasons.

Just a curious question (you don't have to give me an answer, it's your call), are you a player for Riverdale?

  8. We will see what happens next year. Yes, Patrick Compton in the middle and Eli Genet on defense was a big help but the players they overshadowed are definitely capable. But with Patrick and Eli, we really didn't get a look at the others. By next year almost the entire Strikers '93 team will either be Freshmen or Sophomores at Riverdale and that strikers team played in the State Championship this last off-season. Undefeated in 7AAA plus 6 other wins and only 1 loss to McCallie and a tie vs. Baylor, qualifies as making some noise. Patrick and Eli will certainly be missed but the days of good teams at Riverdale are just beginning.

That is an understanding response as Riverdale is never underestimated by anyone. I was just adding that Patrick, Eli, and Pleitez (junior, I know) were the greatest assets to the team this year.

And did you mean Strikers 94? I know that Strikers 93 didn't play in the state tournament in fall 2008, and next year's sophomores should be in the '94 age group. I know that Strikers 92 won the state tournament, and their team consists of many Siegel players and a few Oakland players. I do think that all Strikers teams played the Division 2 state tournament as well.

  9. Riverdale went undefeated in district 7-AAA, which perennially is one of the tougher districts in the state.

Not to take anything away from the young talent of Riverdale, but the two starting seniors were a giant part of the success in their season this year.

  10. Why is Oakland in front of siegel in the district standings shouldn't siegel be in second? They beat Oakland in head to head.

Most likely alphabetized. They have the same district record so it was probably just added alphabetically since nothing is final yet.

But yes, Siegel did beat Oakland head-to-head so Siegel will finish above Oakland. Oakland is fighting for 3rd or 4th and Siegel is for 2nd or 3rd. It all depends on the Blackman vs Cookeville game.

  11. Very well put.

Agreed on this but move Oakland up 1 and you have it set. Siegel is playing good ball now but who knows what Cookeville can pull out.

With Siegel's win over Oakland, I think that it's a safer bet to have Siegel over Oakland for 3rd. It really depends on how Siegel plays within the next district games. They should beat Cookeville, but they could also lose just as easily (as proved by their match against Blackman). Their match with Riverdale is more against them, but they have home field advantage so you never know what could happen.

  12. Tight race between 3rd 4th and 5th ....

This district is tight this year.

    Riverdale may sweep it out.

    Districts will be fun.

Riverdale could sweep it.. definite possibility. Between Siegel and Cookeville, Siegel would be the team to possibly beat Riverdale (even with their giant loss to Blackman, I think they will be better prepared to play a team like Riverdale). Its not likely, but it could definitely happen. That would definitely make things very, very interesting if Siegel could pull off the tie or upset. Cookeville hasn't played the "strength" of the district yet, with Blackman, Riverdale, and Siegel left on their schedule and their loss to Oakland doesn't help them out much...

    My prediction:

    1. Riverdale

    2. Blackman

    3. Siegel

    4. Oakland

    5. Cookeville

    6. Lebanon

    7. White County

    8. Warren County

  13. Just a curious question, what schools in the district have the underclassmen that will make the team stronger in the future? I know that Riverdale has strong young talent and Oakland has a great young forward .. I'm not too sure about Blackman Siegel or Cookeville. Warren County is an extremely young team, maybe they will become a lot stronger in the future..? But what teams should we really look out for for the next coming years?
