  1. We just wanted to let everyone at MBA that we are praying for the young man who was injured last Friday night.
  2. I know that Goodpasture's running game looked very good last week. I dont know what type of size CPA has in their front 7, but Goodpasture has very good size. The key is there fullback #32. If he gets going, it opens up there entire offense. I am very curious to see how the DB's do for Goodpasture this week. They have played 3 consecutive spread teams, but CPA's quarterback is the best QB they has faced so far. Goodpasture's safties (#22 and #9) are fast. It seems that both of those boys fly around the field. It should be fun to watch!
  3. This is all good, but remember this thread is about the football game between the two teams.
  4. I want to back up what CPA4ever said! But I also know that we dont make the rules, we just play by them. I know that Coach Martin regularly plays 5A and 6A teams every year. This year Goodpasture plays Ravenwood, Whites Creek, McGavock, and David Lipscomb. Enough of that, lets get it on for this week, and we are looking forward to going to CPA!
  5. I heard that the CPA/Goodpasture game has been changed from 7:00pm to 7:30pm, is this true?
  6. I understand what you mean, but I still think this will be a good football game. Every year CPA and Goodpasture play each other tough! Also, we look forward to going to CPA because they have one of the best football stadiums in Tennessee!
  7. This is always a very good game. What do you think about the game this year?
  8. Sounds like sour grapes. This is not the thread for public vs private. If you want to scream to bleachers on that subject, go try another thread. We dont make the rules. If you are that upset, write a letter to tssaa!................ Back to the game (Macon County vs Goodpasture), good luck to the boys, and we will be there early!
  9. Thats good. Why dont you wrap all the public schools regardless of size in a ball and let them play each other. Im sure that would be the only fair way to do it. If that was the case, Alcoa would be beating up all the public's and Goodpasture would have a couple more state titles!.......................It does not make sense does it! Enough of that! I am looking forward to a great game tonite!
  10. Good luck and good health to both teams tonite!
  11. No they do not lack in speed! They have pleanty of speed. What they lack is expierence. They have several kids that run sub 4.5 forty's, but the problem is that they are thinking to much. You can tell that they are thinking about not making an assinment mistake, instead of just playing football and let your natural ability show thru. I know that once these cougars get a few games under there belt, they will be ready to go. I know Coach Martin will see to that. And if you watched last weeks game, the secondary played a very good ball game, especially in the second half. They were right with there guy step for step. They also have a real fast receiver, but I think the coaching staff wanted to establish a physical brand of play and get there "bigs" going. And they needed to do that. They needed to set a physical tone last week. There line played very good last week, and each of there fullbacks ran for 100+ yards.
  12. Seriously, what type of defense do they run?
  13. What type of defense does Macon County run?
  14. What region did Macon County play in last year, and what teams did they normally play in that region?
  15. The parking in the back usually is full about one hour before the game. You can park in the back, but the tailgaters are usually back there. Definately get there by 6:00pm if you want good parking. There is also parking available directly across the street from the school.
  16. You should enjoy the Friday night light feeling at Cougar Stadium. The seats are very close to the field, and you can actually stand right up against the grass at the end zones.
  17. Goodpasture does not lack in the size department. They played like two different teams the first two weeks. I guess that is a result of so many 10th and 11th graders playing. I dont think Goodpasture has played Macon County in a long time, it should be fun to watch.
  18. Good luck and good health to both teams. I am excited to see this weeks game. Goodpasture looked very good last week. I hope they bring the same physical play they did against Ravenwood. This will be the third opponent in a row that runs the spread. Macon County likes to pass, and it looks like pass coverage is going to be a strength for Goodpasture.
  19. Goodpasture ran more power running sets last week. I think that was a direct result of the way they played the previous week. It seemed obvious that the coaching staff was sending a message, and that message was be physical! Both the offense and defense played much better and was more physical. They did not pass much because they did not need to. They just ran behind the hudge offensive line. The also ran some three wide receiver sets, but ran out of that formation. I do think that they will pass more. They have a good quarterback (#3) and they have two good receivers (#9 and #28).
  20. I just wanted to know. All I know is you can never take anyone lightly. Especially in high school football. Anyone can beat anybody on one given night.
  21. The next opponent for Goodpasture is Macon County. Does anyone know what type of offense they run?
  22. Thank you. That kid is fast. What is the name of the two fullbacks #29 and #32?
  23. What a game last night! Goodpasture looked much better! Everyone needs to calm down and let these kids play. Remember, they are a young team, and they will go threw some bumps along the way. Atleast Goodpasture does not duck anyone. Compare Goodpasture's schedule (non-region). They play big schools every year to get the kids ready for the playoffs! And about Coach Martin, give me a break! All the guy does is run a great program, goes deep into the playoffs every year, 3 state titles, and after one loss people want to put him and the team out to pasture. Get a clue! When you have a young team you just have to be patient and work with the kids. By the end of the year, Coach Martin and his staff will have this team ready to compete in the playoffs. Enough about that, the kids played hard on both sides of the ball last night. Much better tackling and effort. Ravenwood played very hard as well. The turning point of the game was late in the 3rd quarter when Goodpasture returned a fumble about 45 yards down to the 20 yard line. I dont know who that was, but that boy can run! The same kid made a great play on a fourth down play. The offensive line and the two fullbacks played very good tonite. All in all, a very good team effort!
  24. I was at the scrimmage yesterday, and it was good luck for both teams. The scrimmage was pretty much back and forth, but Goodpasture won 4 to 3. The Goodpasture freshman won 1 to 0. Still alot of missed tackles on defense, but I am sure Coach Martin will correct that before the begin of the season. One observation, they went to a no-huddle offense half way thru the scrimmage and it looked very good.
  25. I just wanted to wish good luck and good health to the Goodpasture boys today when they scrimmage Franklin. I will let eveyone know how it went!
