  1. No problem, didn't think you were making excuses. But you are correct when you say Kat looked tired. She didn't seem to have much zip on her ball as she normally did. That's what it looked like from the stands, but who knows what it looked like from the batter's box lol. Anyways.......Hoadwonic started and finished every game for the Warriors except for the 6th meeting vs Siegel on Thursday evening. Riverdale started their Senior pitcher to try and give Hoadwonic some rest and not to mention Siegel had already seen her 4 times. But unfortunately Thomas was only able to last for 1 2/3 innings before Siegel jumped up on Riverdale 3-0, and Hoadwonic had to come in during the 2nd inning with runners on. But she had pitched an 8 inning game vs Knox Central on Wednesday, so I guess it pretty much evens out to her pitching 7 complete games. They both pitched LOTS of innings this season, and hopefully they are able to get some rest before summer ball starts for them!!

Oops...Sorry for the knee jerk reaction to defend the horns and the drum lol my bad......but I guess Wilson thought we were at a golf match...Oh, don't worry...the horns traveled to almost every game this year...they will definitely be a blowing on their return next year!
  3. Whatever dubc, you're a Warrior hater. If you wanted to just say congrats to all the local girls, you would do just that. But you have to start each post with a bash to an excited Warrior fan instead of just keeping your mouth shut then after the bash you throw in a "great job girls" haha. Trust me, I've been to the big dance; in more ways than just a spectator. Myself along with many others were happy to see the Warriors pull the upset. Yes, Riverdale had a great record going into State. But the record didn't show how close they were to having a few more losses. They lost to Siegel 3 times, almost lost to Cookeville, White Co they only beat 2-0 the second time around, Oakland played them to a 1 run ball game, and there were plenty more close calls. The Warrior team struggled to hit on all cylinders. Their bats fell silent quite a few times this year, and they got lucky on the other team making errors. So, their record is great, but it wasn't as smooth of a ride as it might show. But once they hit state and got put down in the losers bracket, Riverdale was back on track and not missing a beat with offense, pitching, and defense. Now to the DNJ. Like any other local paper, they're going to profile the most dominant team. So, in most cases, YES Riverdale was always in the press. But for this 2009 season, the Siegel Stars got a lot of press. Which they should have. They were a power to be feared by any other 7AAA school and finished 4th in State! GO STARS!! So, you want the press...try winning more ball games and tournaments throughout the season!! Riverdale won the MTSCA Gold Tournament, Lincoln Co Border Battle, 7AAA Regular Season, and 7AAA District Tournament. So, if they got the press, they deserved it. To the comment about Kat pitching every game that Beech played...Kat pitched in 37 games and Riverdale's Hoadwonic pitched 34...so, only a 3 game difference.

Oh gosh CRY ABOUT IT!!!! They were cheering on their team just like everyone else. Beech's parents had whistles, shakers, bells, and they even bought a horn off of a RHS student. AND their coach told Riverdale's coach that they looked all over murfreesboro for horns because they wanted some for their team!!! So, if Beech didn't have a problem with the noise, it shouldn't matter!!! Nothing new for people to complain about Riverdale parents, students, and teachers supporting their team. How many times have people complained about the drum? If you can't deal with it, here is what you do...........YOU GO HOME. And just because Riverdale's crowd was loud and cheering their girls on doesn't make them ill mannered. Don't get all upset that Riverdale won and the only thing there is to complain about is that the crowd was too loud! HA what a joke! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

HAHA those horns were loud! Riverdale did have one heck of a crowd during the whole state tournament! You definitely could tell if RHS was playing or not from the parking lot! It's good to have enthusiastic crowds like that! It makes the games so much more exciting! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  6. dubc, you should take a "chill pill". The Beech people ain't even on here moaning and groaning like you! Let it go Mr. WC...surely you can find better things to do than argue about a game that your team didn't even play! HAVE A SPLENDID MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!! GOD BLESS THOSE SERVING & THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED!!
  7. ok, comparing Riverdale to the "MIRACLE" hockey team is a long shot. but MANY did doubt that the Warriors could even get to the big dance in the boro. MANY were shocked when they beat Soddy. and FEW gave them credit for being the better team. then all the "pre-dance" media did everything but go ahead and fedex the 1st place trophy to Beech. it's typical for the media/fans to pick a tournament favorite, but to say that this was going to be the easiest state tournament in years and Beech would win easily...was pretty shocking. yes, Beech is a very talented team from the top of the lineup to the very bottom, and they have been nationally ranked all year. Beech should have been picked tournament favorite, but they shouldn't have been prematurely named AAA state champs. point being, Riverdale came out with a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove everyone wrong. They knew what they were capable of, and they also knew that their rollercoaster season might have given everyone doubts which made them the underdogs going into the championship game. After losing to Beech wednesday night 6-0, not many teams could bounce back. Riverdale bounced back and some. So, giving credit where credit is due...CONGRATS to the Riverdale Warriors for beating Beech not once, but twice in less than 24 hours. It's tough to beat a nationally ranked team once, but you girls did it twice! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Riverdale actually has 4 pitchers (1 senior, 2 sophomores, and 1 freshman). At the beginning of the season, they worked in rotation. As the season got rolling, sophomore Samantha Hoadwonic became the front runner and the work horse. Not many know her or know much about her. She pitched all 7 games that Riverdale played in the State. Hopefully, beating Beech twice to win the State Title will get her name out there and get her some recognition. She's come a long way since the 2008 season. Congrats to Riverdale! You made an exciting run! It was very fun to watch! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
