  1. TSSAA rules state that once a game is suspended in the second half, if the game can not be resumed that date, then the game is complete. Take nothing away from Meroll Hyde, but the real loser here is the team that won their district and has to play Central Magnet. Yikes!

    That would be Notre Dame

  2. Because of the threat of bad weather today, CPA and Page played last night.

    CPA 1

    Page 0

The other side of the region is White House and White House Heritage.

Congrats, G. Good luck against White House!

  3. One other repercussion for the new classes is that Notre Dame and CCS will be in separate classes in D2. I guess CCS wasn't in the smoke-filled room with CPA and Knox Webb to set their enrollment at 449. I am sure CCS and Notre Dame will continue to play in all sports, as It has been a great rivalry over the years.

  4. The fields are green and in great condition.

Looking forward to the Fall TSSAA Girls Soccer Championships.

For once, they actually are. I was at the stadium field far too late last night. Still, I'd much rather have the games at something more suitable for high school games. Contrary to some opinions, these are not club games.

  5. And like I said you would have to have statistical proof to show that it does or doesnt, Other than that it's just assumptions. I just find it funny that school have been playing travel team in other sports for years and no one has brought this up till girls soccer about it being the biggest factor.....

Exactly! Let's count how many AAU basketball players are on the successful teams.

We are not morons on this board, at least most of us are not. Of course club soccer is a key component of the hard-working model. The lazy, give-me-a-trophy-for-showing-up model involves showing up to practice after the summer dead period, after last kicking a ball in the 1st round of district playoffs.

  6. Club soccer is a big part of the community support I am talking about. Again, I will use Rhea County as an example. They started a grassroots club so their players will play more than just during high school season, and younger players will start playing soccer earlier than August of their freshman year of high school.

Classifying teams by how many club players is patently absurd and ridiculous. I guess football classifications should be classified by how many 7-on-7 camps players attend.

  7. Your right Booger someone always is going to complain about something. What alot of people don't know understand about a school like Greeneville is these girls have been playing together since they were little with the Greeneville Galaxy. They have former players that come back to the community and help coach these Galaxy teams since they are 6 and 7 years old. They also build a soccer park a few years back just for the galaxy team. The community supports soccer big time in Greeneville and you will see that at games (expecially when the football team gets out of practice for a game). It seems some people and teams just get out worked

You hit the nail on the head! Success in any sport depends on support from the community - whether that community be a town, county, church, or religious faith. And by support, I mean money, time, encouragement. The Notre Dame community doesn't really support bowling, so our bowling team isn't very good and very dependent on a student signing up who happens to be good at bowling. We love soccer, though, and throw a lot of support behind it. Rhea County is another example of a community that decided to throw time and resources behind their soccer community. Every year, they incrementally improve.

It's fascinating to me that some fans and some coaches think that the great equalizer is to just remove competition. The equalizer is community support.

  8. If they are remaining division 1.....shouldn't they play automatically in the largest division?  Considering they are still operating under a different set of perimeters?  It makes sense for them to play in the highest classification instead of remaining where they can virtually be handed the title every year.  You talk about watered down......but you can easily use the term monopoly, too.

    Just sayin'........

They will be operating under the 80% multiplier, just like all of the other private schools that stay D1.
