  1. Great read! I can tell you from my own personal experience with my son, that this article is right on point. My youngest started at 4 and found success right away. Out of my own ignorance and zeal   for his success, I allowed him begin competing nationally by the age of 7. Soon thereafter he began to compete year round and following the FS/GR state championship he started showing signs of burnout and wanted to quit by the age of 9.

He has since taken a full year off. I gave him space and allowed him to choose when to come back.Recently he came back to the mat and will compete at a limited schedule (30 matches max). The moral and lesson learned for me is to start them later 8 or 9, and to allow them to make more choices. Providing him with the space to choose when e came back gave him a greater appreciation for the sport. There was no better feeling than him coming home from practice and telling me that he loves this great sport again!

  3. My team will be competing in the CSA's Memorial Day Classic in Clarksville, TN. I am not sure how many of you guys are aware of this organization, but they seem to be great so far. I have been in contact with them and they have been very helpful thus far. I will have a full report on how it went the Monday following Memorial day weekend, but I wanted to make everyone aware of another place to find tournaments in the Mid-TN and KY areas.

  5. It is hard to beat the body position awareness and mobility improvement you get from FS/GR. I have heard critics of it in the past say that it confuses the wrestler, but I think that is non-sense and offensive to wrestlers. Wrestlers are some of the most intelligent athletes in the world. FS/GR can only benefit you. Take a look at the State Championship podiums at all levels and you will find kids that participate in FS/GR. We have started running an off-season FS/GR club at West Creek this year and all our wrestlers are encouraged to participate because we believe it is crucial to their development. Some of our kids additionally attend the Knuckleheads (who have a great program) across town as well. I am a believer in the advantages and you will find me practicing what I preach tonight, teaching the boys the bow and arrow and side headlock turns.

  6. After tough losses to White House 11-2 and Richview 12-2 and losing two key starter to injury during last weeks tournament. West Creek finally got back on track last night!

  7. So everyone on here wants me to say hey we are going 8-2 this year losing to HCHS and RHS.  Yes that may happen but I am going to be optimistic.  We could go 3-7 this year we could go 5-5 this year.  No one really knows until the season ends.  I just get on here and let my team know that I am behind them and I am pulling for them.  If other supporters don't see them winning then why get on here?  If you don't support your team then don't get on here. I haven't said anything about a team not in our district unless someone has asked me a question.  If you don't like what I say then don't read.  If you think I am crazy then that is fine.  I don't believe I am ignorant just because I say we are going 10-0.

I really think it is a toss up in the 10 AAA. Clarksville will be much improved and I could see them being a very good ball team and still going 5-5 or possibly 10-0, it really just depends on how the chips fall. Most of the teams in 10 AAA are so close, who knows what the outcome will be in the end. The road to the State Championship will definitely run through HC though.

    Couple scenarios here for CHS.

I think they will beat Goodpasture this year, Lose to Ravenwood, and beat Centennial for two wins and 1 loss to start the season, however Goodpasture or Centennial are fairly equal to CHS and could win.

They are good enough to beat Rossview, Kenwood, West Creek, and Northeast, but those teams are also good enough to beat CHS. So you can count those games for 0-4 wins. They will beat Northwest and Springfield for 2 wins, and I think CHS can play with HC, but most likely will fall to them due to their depth, so that's 1 loss. So, with all that being said, here is the best and worst outcome I could see for CHS. IMHO

    Best Outcome 8-2

    Worst Outcome 5-5

I hope they go 9-1 and their only loss is to a 10-0 West Creek though!

  8. Rough night for the Coyotes in the field last night at the Richview Tournament.

  10. In the interest of making this forum an interesting read again. I thought we could begin posting scores. I know in our neck of the woods (Clarksville) we just had our jamboree. Here are the scores for West Creek Middle School.

New Providence 6 West Creek 4

    West Creek 14 Hopkinsville 0

  11. I would encourage anyone wanting to go to first try and represent their own state. Sections will be made after this weekends State Tourny and Dual’s

Not trying to pull anyone away from Team TN, but not everyone makes the team. Better to get the info out there now, while they have an opening.
