  1. I was looking at the TNAAU State Championship Tournament on Trackwrestling and there are several GA kids already signed up for the tournament. How can this be? Is this not the TNAAU State Tournament. GA has there own State tournament. I am more than open to new competiton, and the competition from other places is great for the kids, I am just not sure that the State Tournament is the place for that out of state competition. IMO the State and Region Tournaments should be special for TN Kids. What are your thoughts??

  3. Keep posting your events. Most of the Clarksville, TN Teams are a mixture of KY and TN residents. We have many interested in the KY Elementary tournaments.
  4. Where is a schedule located with all three tournaments?
  5. With Region and State coming up the Coyote Wrestling Club is opening it's mats up to anyone that would like to come and participate in our practices. All that is required is a good attitude and an AAU card. Check the Coyote Club Weplay site for our schedule.
  6. First let me clarify my stance as I have been jumped on in other forums for "bad mouthing" TNAAU. I am proud to be a part of TNAAU and I appreciate all the wonderful volunteers in the state are doing for the sport. None of my statements are a knock on TNAAU. Now, I am speaking about Mid TN Specifically. I have helped with some Track tourneys and it does have some pitfalls and is not exactly intuitive if you are not used to the system or if you dont have enough computers at the tournament to effeciently make real time stat updates. Most recently I helped with the Warrior's Den Tourney. They did a great job running the tournament, but they only had one computer available to work registration and stats which made the task of real time bout updates virtually impossible. In other tournaments I have been to they either had a computer at each mat to update the bouts at the mat or they had a runner that brought bout sheets to a head table that had three to five workers doing the statistical data entry, this worked well and I think that is what Chattanooga does to their credit. Additionally the task of putting in stats after the tournament is complete is a monumental one. My wife and I took all the bout sheets from the Warrior's Den tourney and we entered in all the bouts on two computers at home and it took us roughly 5 hours. I too am a supporter of TNAAU and I love the sport and the progress the state has made. My hope is that before next year we give all the tournament directors more support in the form of training and equipment so we can become more unifrom and effecient throughout the state. My profession is in Instructional Development and Platform Instruction for the military at Ft. Campbell. I would be more than happy to provide this training if we could some how all get togther and decide on proper and adequate training, and a place to do this that everyone in the state could attend. 7. I didnt get to see Kaleb since he was in a seperate gym, but Trevor looked great. He had total control of each match. All the TN kids really looked good. You could tell that no one expected the TN kids to be at the level they were. Great future outlook for TN wrestling.
  8. 10 Kids from TN competed at the Indy Nationals this weekend. All wrestled well and 4 placed and we had 1 Champion crowned. Results can be found on Track and are as follows: Trevor Rippy, Novice 90: Tournament Champion Kaleb Rippy, Schoolboy 128: 2nd Place Dustin (Spike) Moon, Bantam 50: 4th Place Trey Bates, Intermediate 55: 6th Place Evan Clemmons, Novice 112: 6th Place Great Showing for the State from all that competed.
  9. wow... some people... obviously you know who I am so we can continue this conversation at the state tournament in March...
  10. I know it is a TSSAA thread my comments are for those who think Track is cure all. It is not! We have been to some well run track tournaments and it is great. The dashboard is excellent, it was used last week at the Grind and it is a wonderful tool I agree. My comments are only a warning. Kapwrestling also has a great system and it is used at the Ohio TOC. Scoring is done in real time at the table. It works great also.
  11. Trackwrestling is great, however I must tell you that it is only as good as the tournament director makes it. If the tournament director does not keep the bouts updated on the Track Server it does not work. If you want to see an example of Track gone bad just look at the majority of the TNAAU tournaments this year no updates at all to any brackets or incorrect stats put in when they are updated.
  12. The link I posted earlier was broken... Sorry. Try this one. http://www.twnode8.com/opentournaments/MainFrame.jsp?sport=wrestling&TIM=1329253967932&pageName=&ie=true&frameSize=500
  13. Here is the link to the results. Strong showing from the state. GA Grind Results
  14. We traveled to Suwanee, GA to compete in the Grind. I know alot of TN Kids placed. I wish we could get more kids from TN at these events. Its nice to see how our state stacks up. Dustin Moon Finished 3rd in Bantam 50s from the Coyote Club in Clarksville. I know alot of Higher Calling kids were there also. Bentley Ellison was on our mat and he was the Tournament Champion in Bantam 45 I think. Awesome day of wrestling!!!
  15. Oscar's Taco Shop (beside Centennial High) Cozy Mel's Fresh Mexican with everything made from scratch. The chips and tortillas are hand rolled in front of you at the bar.(near the Cool Spring's Gallaria) C@ck of the Walk, Catfish, Shrimp and Chicken. (Nashville on Music Valley Dr.)
  16. I asked a tournament director about this a few weeks ago. The answer that was given to me is that it takes about 6 hours to insert all the data. That is probably true if you wait until the tournament is over. We wrestled in AL and most recently IN this weekend. Both tourneys were on Track and they updated their brackets as the tournaments progressed. They had a computer station for each mat and the bout sheets were brought to the scoring table by a runner as the matches were complete. It worked great and gave you realtime results. I really hope TN gets this resolved. It is very frustrating. The parents and children alike, enjoy checking out each others profiles, but the Track system loses its appeal when not properly utilized.
  17. CAn anyone explain to me why TN AAU is using Trackwretling this year and not recording any stats. We have wrestled at three different tournaments this year and only had one bracket recorded, and even with that one onone of the wins, pins, maj or techs were recorded. For kids who compete nationally they need there ranking to increase in order to get a good seeding out of state. What's going on?
  18. Our next registration will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 5-7 PM at West Creek High School. Hope to see you there.

  20. Is the TN Youth Wrestling site not going to be updated at all?????
  21. All of this is great and healthy discussion on the state of TN wrestling and wrestling in the South as a whole. This was my intent from the start of this post. It truly is our responsibility as coaches and parents to get our wrestlers exposed at the national level. We went to the Ohio TOC last Spring and there was probably about 20 total youth wrestlers form the State of TN that attended as well. All were competitive, many placed, and a few won. We also won, one dual against a PA team and were competitive against another PA team, and Team OH. We are a strong wrestling state in my opinion. We took my son along with some other wrestlers from the state to wrestle in the states of IN, IL, OH, KY, GA, and AL, and the kids placed or won in each of those states, but it is our duty as coaches and parents to get our kids out there.
  22. I am going to the VAndy UGA game next week and I am looking for tailgating locations and prices.... Can anybody help me out? Thanks.
  23. Look at it however you want to, I just think it is a shame that wrestling seems to be losing steam at the college level throughout the country, all the while its popularity continues to grow at the lower levels. It is very true that if you want your TN wrestler to be recognized by D1 schools anywhere other than UTC for the most part you have to take them to national level tournaments and camps.
