  1. Christopher should be the Class A Miss Basketball. The only reason she might not is that some voters will remember Leonard and the play she made to win the Class A State Championship last year. Leonard should win it next year, hands down. Hobson is a very good player and was the main reason her team made it to sub-state. McEwen will miss her next year.

This should be given on what the player do this year. It should not matter if they are a freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior. As for next year, I think that you will have to look at Molly Heady. IMO best player in 7A this year.

  2. It is hard to beat a team 3 times AND anything can happen on any given night so watch what you say because they may just slip up and get beat.

I don't know if you have seen Clarkrange play this year or not, they have many offensive weapons and their defense is solid. They just don't have any weaknesses. I just don't see them being off in all parts of the game. They can be off in one part but they way the do everything else will get them the win. I think that this is their year. Need to rearrange the trophy case for another gold ball.

  3. YES IT DID HELP GLEASON CAUSE IT WAS AGAINST JC. WAS THE RECORD FOR GLEASON THAT 36-1 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. HOLDING THE BALL WAS HOW THEY DID IT EVERY PERIOD. THATS WHY I THINK A SHOT CLOCK SHOULD BE ADDED IN TOURNMENT TIME.

That makes real sense, play one way all year and play another way during the tournaments. If you don't want to get beat this way, you need to get ahead at the start of the game. I'm sure that JC was well aware of what was going to happen if Gleason got a lead. Make each possession that more important. Do you remember the score of this game?

  4. This can be argued back and forth, and probably no one is going to change their mind about which way the game needs to be played.

Some claim the this is for lazy coaches. There is just as much coaching that goes in to stalling the ball or trying to defense the stall as there is to other parts of the game. I need to have my team ready defensively for the stall and offensively I also have to have it ready to be able to stall. I would think that my team would not going to be able to anything good if I am a lazy coach.

If your team is not sound fundamentally, you will not be able to hold the ball or defense it. Passing, ball handling, spacing, and foul shooting are very important to this part of the game. These are areas IMO that are lacking in today's game. This would tend to make a player a more complete player (need to improve). I would think that a college coach would be interested in someone with those skills.

To me the will to win is the driving force to make a player get better.

I would not mention to the folks in Gleason that you should not slow down the game. Seems like it won them a state championshlip year before last. I believe that they had girls to go on to a higher level. If you are good enough to play, the colleges will find you.

If teams don't like to have someone slow the game down, they need to learn to do a better job on defense.

  5. No.

Most people that want a shot clock for hs usually suggest a 40, 45 or 50 second clock. I would suggest that you go to several games and just time the possession of each team before they take a shot. I believe that you will find that most possessions do not last this long.

  6. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Same clowns as last year come to defense. You morons can't read much less see, obviously by the highlighting with capital letters (don't think that was the mood I was trying to capture), as stated it hurt JC more than it did CR. Over and back was on film last year darling. But you couldn't even see it then, so why would I expect you to even understand what I have said on here. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Refs were good missed a little at the end, didn't effect the game anyway. As stated per every post. I feel like I am in the twilight zone. No one can read, see, or reason. WOW!!! I miss midtensportsfan, he can at least read and comprehend posts. I don't recall saying it was a knock down drag out. I could give you a detailed description, but I know from experience that you couldn't tell your hind-end from a hole in the ground! I just have one illusion, that's you kissing the backside of my glasses. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Good game JC and Good luck Lady Buffaloes, sorry that I let myself get pulled into such an idiotic post. I will try to do better. Signing off from this useless topic.

Your quote in an earlier post "then she rared back and punched her pretty good in the ribs...finally a foul. From that point forward when they went to foul, they were hammering our girls. If they didn't, time ran off and no foul was called. That's when people started getting knocked to the floor and got pretty rough compared to how it had been called all game."

Seems like that could mean knock down drag out to me, but maybe I'm not able to understand what you are saying.

  7. Good game. JC's strategy was obviously to hold the ball on offense and try to keep the score as low as possible and then make a push in the 4th. Worked in the first half but in the third CR ran a totally different offense at them with both posts working around the top of the key and Reed moving in low. Worked great and JC had no response. CR built the lead to 14 and maintained a 12 to 14 point lead going into the fourth at which point they slowed the offense and worked the clock. The Lady Buffaloes never lost their composure and lead the entire game after the first minute or so into the game. They were never threatened. Leonard was held to 7 points I believe which stymied the JC offense.

I disagree with you on holding the ball. Both teams were patient on offense because of the other team's defense. Score very much like the scores of previous game--low scoring--again good defense. As for the 3rd quarter, JC's was not able to take care of the basketball. They had to many turnovers. CR's 3rd quarter offense only managed 9 points much like quarter 1 and 2. Does not warrant a no response comment.

CR has many offensive weapons, plays solid defense, takes care of the ball, solid coaching, and does a good job on the offensive and defensive backboards. I don't see any weak points. I would be very surprised if they do not run the table this year.

I thought that the game had everything of a great high school game. IMO it was one of the best called games that I have seen this year.

  8. Coach Kimes and her daughter should have stayed in Murfreesboro at the hog show and she also needs to show interest in her JV games because she is not doing much with the girl's team. She needs to let go of the jealously that a freshman is going to out play her daughter and everyone should know by name that the freshman I am referring to is Sydney Roach. I feel some of the other freshman girl's should also be considered for more playing time. Emma Ogletree, Kelsie Hix. Let the assistant coach have more input that's what she is there for. Sydney should be getting the ball more especially from Kimes don't just use her for her defense she could be a lead scorer if she could get the ball more and the Coach would quit telling her not to shoot the ball. Why does the Coach feel like she wants Sydney to lose confidence in herself does she think this is going to make her daughter look better I don't think so. Sydney could go to other teams to play I think Coach Brown would be more than pleased to have a player like her. Coach Kimes should stick with hog shows or at least do a better and fairer job of coaching.

IMO you need to address these feelings to the coach in person, not on a forum.

  9. Hey Devil, You guys wouldn't have to worry about your enrollment going up if Jimmie B. would stop pulling in so many girls from surrounding counties. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

If everyone worried about their own program as much as they did Jackson County's, maybe the players would not want to leave.

  10. Ok now how did you get that top secret info? This was meant to be a co-vert op and no way you find out that we had a guy on the inside unless you broke the secret code that allowed you to get into the crackerjack box and get the combination to the safe that held the code name to the folder that had the lot number to the box which had the 14 digit serial number to the vehicle used to transport the safe with the routing number of the fedex package that had the old 45 record in it which if played backwards had the real name and home location of secret ref we had so carefully planted to win this game. So you need to spill your guts RAINMAN how did you do it? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

7A told me. He knows all.

  11. WOW!!!!!! Im glad im not the only one who seen the walk. Refs were pathetic, possibly the worst I have seen all year and thats pretty bad. Also, Im pretty sure one ref was from J County. That was Clarkrange's game all the way and never should have came down to a 3. Thats 2 wins Clarkrange should have over J County. Not to worry though. They'll get it when it counts /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I understand that he was one of JC's assistant coaches.

  12. Lexington Catholic's only Ky. losses are both to Paul Dunbar. by 8 and 13 points respectively. Paul Dunbar beat Clarkrange in the LIS tournament 53-34. If JC can beat Lexington Catholic on their own floor with Ky. refs would it be a very good win...maybe their best win this season.

You can use the following link to view Catholic's season schedule with scores to date.

  13. Hey MIDTNBB what did you mean by the comment about somebody from Baxter giving advice about headcoaches? I have been in the coaching business since 1983 as a head coach and as an assistant coach. I have coached men's basketball, women's softball, and football. I happen to think that Upperman has some of the best coaches in the business. Are they perfect? No, far from it. But as a whole each coach on staff is as dedicated as you will find each wanting to get better as a coach and working hard to make their teams better. What more could you ask from them? I think it is an excellent staff, but this is just my opinion. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

I think that you could use some of these terms--dedicated,wanting to get better, and hard working to describe the coach from WB. Maybe he uses a coaching style that you do not agree with, but that is no reason to say that they need another coach.

It is my opinion that coaches of schools that are hosting a tournament should not get on boards like this and be critical of the coaches from the schools that are participating in that tournament. Does any of your coaches ever yell at their players or the refs? Do you always agree with their game plans? If not, then get on here tell your opinion of them, not the coaches from other schools.

I just don't think it is professional of a coach to get on here and bad mouth someone else's coaching.

This is just my opinion, but I'm not a coach.

  14. I'm sorry but you need a coach who does not storm the sideline like a madman general in a war yelling and screaming and subbing girls in and out of the game with no reasoning to it. And get a coach that is smart enough to understand that when you are playing against a team that is quicker and faster than your team, you stop trying to press them and get your butt back on defense instead of watching them shoot lay-ups all night long! Sorry but those girls gave plenty of effort and had some tallent but it was miss spent by a coach who did not have a good game plan and made no adjustments to help his team and was just plain lucky that Upperman had a poor night shooting or that score would have been much worse!

Someone from Baxter giving advice on head coaches?

  15. You have to understand, devilish, jcfan and jcman are not typical JC fans, they have caused more hurt to the JC girl's ball team in the last two weeks than one could imagine. Of the people that I personally know in RBS, there are none no better any where.

Are you sure that they are JC fans? Anyone can be anyone on the internet. I have my doubts since they have just appeared on the board. They sure do like to stir.

  16. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Lets worry about Pickett County tonight. Tues lets worry about RBS. Take one game at a time.

It would be good to follow your own advice. It seems like you have posted on everyone that JC is going to play. Just wait till one game is over and then ask about the next. If you want to know who someone is going to play on a given night, use the schedule part of the website.
