Junkie You are in luck!! The next 3 weekends in East TN will have some great basketball. April 18-19 The Tennessee Traveler's Smokey Mountain Classic. Some of top 15, 16, and 17/under teams from TN and across the south will be playing. The tourney is being held at Carson Newman College in Jeff City. A great weekend of basketball. April 25-27 16/under Substate Knoxville (Location not yet known) May 2-4 15/under and 17/under Substate Knoxville (Location not yet known) That should be enough basketball to satisfy any Junkie!! If anyone has anymore info on the substates or other tourneys let me know!!

Is the rumor true that the Memphis Bulldogs are going to Central North in both 16 and 17/Under?

There are six teams that will be playing at Pearl Cohn this weekend: Thunder Franklin Fury Murfreesboro Stars Crosstown Charles Davis and 1 more team... I can not remember who???

The zags did win last weekend. I think Gomab is basing the rankings on how the summer will go.. It is only the first rankings so I am sure the Zags will be moving up as the season goes on..

Did the Y or Bulldogs play in that? If so Gomab may need to change his rankings!!!

no the travelers do not play AAU.. We are all used to calling summer ball AAU... Maybe next time Gomab will label them TENNESSEE SUMMER BASKETBALL TEAM RANKINGS!!!

Hey guys I went through and broke down players on teams going by what I have heard and seen. This is the break down on Gomabs player & Team Rankings: The players on no teams or "None" were hard to place. (I may be off on a few but everyone should be able to help me piece it together). The two 16/under Thunder Teams are not Thunder Central and Thunder East. They are Thunder Elite and Thunder Select. Thunder Elite will be playing in the South substate while the Thunder Select team will be playing in the East substate. Any predications? I say the Ballerz and Thunder Elite make it out of the south. Who will be going North? Royals, BAM, Charlies Davis, Magic, Titans. Am I missing any? I heard there will be 3 good Memphis in 16/under teams any chance any of them will leave memphis to play in another substate? East substate: Lakers, Thunder Select, Zags, Run-Gun, anyothers? Any predictions for state? Lets hear 'em!!

They went 3-0 through the tourney beating the Tn Thunder Elite, Select, and Mt Juliet Wolfpack. MO!! How can you put Team TN in front of the Dream when the dream beat them by 30?? Unless your picks are not in a ranking order just teams you think that will be good... I will have my picks after I have seen some of these teams play this weekend at either the Thunder Classic or Riverdale Classic... BTW Teams that still have not given me your info will not be included in Team Standings as we start our season.. Gomab, I didnt see a single player on Hamilton's team play defense.. They would ALL let their man go by (Williams was the worst)... "Phantom" Hand checking.. I consider if a player has his Hand on the offense players hip the entire time up the court (EVERYTIME UP THE COURT): Hand checking.. Hey maybe some coaches teach players to use their hands on defense and not slide their feet and get in correct position. I would say for Hare shooting 22 FT's PLAY DEFENSE!!! Dont reach... Slide your feet and get in position.. You can not tell me that the Hamilton players played MAN-MAN defense up to your standards.. HEY!! 3-3 so far!! WEST TN SHUTOUT!!! COME ON BC BRING HOME THE GOLD BALL!!! Just think if the rest of the state had open enrollment like Shelby County!!! WOW!!

Gomab How can you get on here and say the refs cost Hamilton the game?? How about the 25-30 times down the court Hamilton just threw a shot up without even looking at the goal. If anything wasnt called it was the numerous (and I mean numerous no calls for memphis) #14 handchecked everyone he guarded all night.. You know as well as I do Memphis plays that aggressive defense and if you get the refs that will call it, then Memphis is in trouble.. You as a coach know after you have received the 1st tech you SHUT UP!! He pushed it he wanted the 2nd T..What I dont understand is the neither assistant coach got up and tried to calm him down before he got 2nd (Which is why I think he wanted so he could get out of that game)!! I have been reading alot of these post and everyone makes great points.. But you also have to take this factor into account. This is a neutral site for both team. Giles had district, regions, and substate at home. Fulton played at Alcoa for district and regions at home for substate. This game is being played at 10:00AM in the morning not the usually 7-8PM time period both teams are used to. Gomab we watched just about every game last year and we saw some teams that we thought never had a chance. But won.. I think this game will be alot closer than some people think. I predict Giles by 2 in OT.. UNLESS Giles gets in foul trouble and has a problem keeping Fulton off the boards excellent offense rebounding team.. If this happens I will take Fulton by 4.. But this is just my humble opinion...

Coaches we are but a few short weeks away from starting our summer seasons. One thing I would like to do this year is keep up with team records and stats (if possible). First I will need every coach interested in participating to please email with your team info. Any other info you want to submit is up to you(schedules, player info, coaching info, etc...).Please put in your subject line age group, and your area. Example: 16/Boys Nashville This way I will be able to keep the 3 age groups and the areas separated . I only want to keep up with 15-17/under boys. If someone else would like to do the others KNOCK YOURSELF OUT!! We can keep this basic and just keep up with records from tournament games (SCRIMMAGES TO DO NOT COUNT). Or we can keep up to date player stats, it depends on what info coaches want to send!! I may need some help with this once the season gets going so anyone interested in helping please email me and let me know!! Why am I doing this? I want coaches and teams to be able to see how other teams across our great state are doing.
