and by the way tut...I have only one name on this message board. I am not drknows, and I am wondering who he is too, I know crazybear, and he could care less about this thread...wrong sport. The only time I get mixed up is when I think someone might have a comment worth reading and then I read that it is only another attack on my member name. My name on this board is meant to stir people up, because their true side comes out when they are upset or angry. Through this message board I have shown many people who read, but dont post, the problems with a lot of the attitudes in metro and a lot of the problems with the coaches in metro, and a lot of reasons why those same coaches are generally done with head coaching in metro. Learn from their mistakes my child and maybe you too can be one of the metro elite someday.

Gladi...you're right, he would have found a way to recruit some athletes in and win, but that would have to be after he had his name recognition. Do you think he could have won early in his career at Glencliff? Think about the athletic base there. Abner is either completely insane, or completely in love with a challenge...and I know what most of your answers are, so dont answer that. So how are things in bear country?

lilal, appreciate the compliment, but you overestimate my coaching abilities. Glencliff is a tough place to win for anyone. This is for all the Alabama fans that are reading this particular thread...even the Bear couldnt win at Glencliff. Thats for BB,BS,JP,WE..and a few others. When is the next clinic? Don't overindulge...the stories do get told...even if you believe "what goes on the road stays on the road."

Arnett is a great guy, but he is in no way possible ready for a head job...and I'm not saying Broome is, but he has neighborhood connections that could land him the job.

if it happens that Campbell does get HL, then Broome would be an obvious choice for Stratford. It will at least have to be a young coach...no one with any years in coaching will not want this one. Broome graduated from Stratford, and if he can bring in some new coaches as assistants, then it would be a great fit for all. These are all "ifs"!!! I just llike to throw things in to keep the interest up. But these are definite possiblities based on good info.

My picks are based on whether on not Aydelott is really out of the picture. If he is ...Glencliff-Abner...HL-Campbell...McGavock-Armstrong... Stratford-Broome, if he has his certifications completed. I am really only sure of the same one we all are sure about. Other predictions...HL will have the quickest/continued success, but will not win the big one until the head coach can pick his own staff...too many headhunters/backstabbers that wont get the job this time either on that staff. McGavock will pick up their level quickly, but won't win big until after Armstong has retired to work for Easton. Glencliff won't win at all until Mexico and Kurdistan make American football their national sport. Stratford will continue to be competitive, but wont win big until someone figures out how to get the athletes eligible and out of jail.

matching trophies, Smith comes out ahead among interviewers...matching schools and coaching assignment, he comes out behind. Matching connections, he stays at Ezell.

good post...and I agree with you on most points. The middle school coaches could be good choices because of their relationship with the players, but that would last for only a few years until the players they had coached in middle school had run out. But it would be a definite advantage if a complete change in the high schools philosophy was needed. There are several other factors that would have to be looked at as well. Fitzgerald should be the dominant coach in Tennessee. With the pick of athletes he has, he should have a dozen championships. Coure has been slowed by time and is out of energy. Aydelott was at Stratford in the early 90's under Spears when that had several good seasons, but the never won the big one. There was a run of outstanding athletes then. He is the best man for HL, but shadow says he's out of it now. Spears could do a good job a HL or Mc, but he is like Brown and has too many skeletons in the closet and offended too many people over the years. Armstong is at the end of a career that should have ended a couple of years ago, but he could do a good job at Mc as well, but his main job will be to prepare Broome for when he will take over the head job in a few years.

if Ron did pull his name out, that's a huge lose for HL...maybe he didnt want to deal with the stuff Abner did...a disloyal and fractured coaching staff would scare anyone away. And if indeed he did, then that does throw it back open... but I would say Campbell... B.B. is a dark horse with very little chance.

sure, guys that have worked hard deserve an interview. Guys that have worked hard at sabotaging others do not, and that has cost some people at HL. He has had his shots at head coaching positions, and anyone that would have interviewed him already knows him, his philosophies, and his weaknesses. Thata why he didnt get an interview, he actions over time have spoken much louder than any words he could have said in an interview. I know thats hard to accept, but its true. Exam question for the future...how old is Mr. Myers? Those on the inside know the reason for that one.

so coaches that have no chance at a job should be interviewed out of loyality and courtesy? Wouldn't that be a waste of time and be cruel to give those coaches the idea that they have a chance?

they already have been going on...Glencliff did their final interviews last week, Mc and HL are doing preliminary and then final interviews over the next week or so. All three are to be announced at the same time later in the month...or so my sources say.

Who you know does help, but its more of what that person knows about you that counts. Knowing people means that those people know you...that has hurt several of the "old age movement" the past couple of years and opened the door for the "youth movement."

Richard would be a good choice, but I have a feeling he will be going to Hillwood. Either way, he is a great coach and will have success at either school.

unbelievable as it may be, yes he does have a shot at Mc...he is on the short list, but only time will tell who gets that one. Common belief is that he will get it for a few years to groom Broome. But this one is the most interesting of the three...and should be the one that shows the biggest turn-around...if the right person is hired. Glencliff has no where to go but up, but has absolutely no talent pool to work with. Hunters Lane has the athletes, and has had success, but has never been able to turn the corner to the elite. McGavock has the athletes and has no where to go but up. This is a huge decision for Tribue and his decision will be felt system wide. Mc should always compete with HL, Overton, Pearl Cohn, and Hillsboro for the best in the Nashville public city schools, but there's a lot of discipline and football to be taught by Bozeman's successor before that will happen.

it will be a zero tolerence offense, but depending on the findings of the student's M-Team meeting, it could be found to be a manifestation of his handicapping condition. I know that sounds completely absurd, but that is how the special ed laws work. At the worst, this kid will be sent to an alternative school. At the best, since the kid is legally an adult, he can withdraw himself from school. The sad thing about it is that since he is special ed (which could be anything from mental retardation, to emotionally disturbed, to a reading disability!) he will have the right to stay in school until his 22 birthday. Most MIP kids have some learning disability, ie a reading/processing disability, have a history of bad behavior, and have learned that their condition will protect them. What a sad commentery. And what a sad state of affairs we find education in. I only hope there are criminal charges pending, since he is an adult and the law couldnt care less about his handicapping condition. Unless an adult is mentally incapacitated, ie retardation, there is little protaction. Not being able to read or add wont protect him from the courts. Thank the Lord.

of those three you listed, Campbell has the best shot, Brown doesnt have a shot, even though he could do a good job. History will keep it from him. Smith is qualified, but has no connections. Campbell was in the running last year, but the higher ups didnt want it to happen because Stratford is on probation and needs all the good teachers it can find, and Campbell is an excellent teacher. The job is Aydelott's if he wants it, and he has shown interest, and did throw his name in the ring...we will see if he really does want it and is serious about taking the job. It would be a fantastic fit...with his discipline and ability to bring out the best in each player, think what he can do with the athletes at HL. A month ago, I didnt think he had any interest at all, but that turned out to not be true. Time will tell what happens. But he is the front runner, especially since he didnt get siegel.
