Broome would be the better selection because of his neighborhood ties and college experience. Arnette would be good as well, but success at the freshman level does not always translate over to the varsity level. Arnette may have trouble relating to the Spartans, but he could do well. Indications are that Broome is possibly going to stay at Mc and wait for Armstong's inevitable retirement. There may be a dark horse lurkng out there as well. No matter who it is, it needs to happen ASAP so Stratford can get on with their program as well. They will, however, be in better shape at this point of the spring season because Campbell has been workng his guys all along.

12:00 noon today, Brunette is set to announce the coaching positions. Sorry I didnt post this earlier, but I've been busy.

I am still sticking with the same predictions from several weeks back...Campbell HL, Abner Glencliff, Armstrong Mc, opening Stratford for Broome. Announcement should be this week, but as per metro, there is a possibility for change...as well as who will actually get these positions. These decisions need to be announced ASAP...too many athletes sitting around waiting for the announcement! No matter how good the assistants are in getting players to work, this is affecting teams. Just like Scrappy said, this should put Antioch ahead...and it could. But HL will catch back up very quickly. Mc needs at least 2 years to tuen around. Glencliff needs more athletes. Stratford needs fewer probation officers in the stands.

Today's Tennessean article did surprise me with the bit about the HL job. Their sources must be different than mine. If it is a former metro coach, then that points to spears and brown. Those are both possibilities since they both showed interest. Remember, these are all fluid situations, and predictions are being made on the best indications at the time. Most schools have it narrowed down to two top choices, and are having a difficult time making the final decision. Thats ok because this is a big decision for those schools. I have been updating here on when the decisions will be made based on the best info at the time, and I said it before the Tennessean. For those that want info on activities of the HL staff, go back and read my posts, its there to be read for the literate. TUT, do you have the same fetish with Jan Stauffer that you have with me? I know him well, so if you are interested in advancement there, be careful. Monty has no way of knowing him. Tribue wants Armstrong, but only on Tribue's terms..which is as it should be. Humility is needed from Armstrong. Tribue is sending a very stong message...remember who the boss is and leave the bat at home. Who knows if Armstrong will figure it out. But the plans are now to announce all three next week, but we will see what happens. As typical metro, very few assistant coaches jobs will change, although it will be very much needed. With Campbell going to HL, it will be fun to watch the staff pull some of the same stuff on an east nashville product. An attitude adjustment will be in quick order. It will be an eye opening experience for those guys. It wouldnt surprise me if there were some changes at Mc, but I don't think there will be many. Most of the staff are comfortable as assistants, and have been for many years, and they all know and have a relationship with Armstrong. At the most, I foresee two coaches with thoughts of leaving. This will be an entirely new coaching staff in 3-5 years. The coaching shuffle for Stratford has not yet been given an exact time-line, but with spring practice looming, it will happen much faster than the other three. This could be a prime job for someone, because there will be assistant positions to fill. There are still some outstanding athletes eligible at Stratford and there can be immediate success, building on what Campbell has done. Broome will be a front runner, but not a lock for this one.

McGavock has thrown a wrench in the works, so the announcement may not come until next week. The smart money is on Abner, Campbell, and Armstrong. The only one that is not assured at this time is McGavock. The others have been decided. Psychological methodologies are at work at Mc. A powerplay and assertion of authority is taking place...and it is probably a good thing. Free swingers need to be held on tight reign. The intent is to announce all three for more unity and publicity for Metro.
