  1. How is it going to go Pujo? My girls played a dandy ball game last night to win the region. Meig's is a very solid ball club and our girls played hard all night. Great win against a excellent team and I heard your bunch turned it up a gear on defense in the semi-finals. Any chance your going to stun SG? If not......WELCOME to the reservation....!
  2. Some game thoughts.....Oneida is a very disruptive defense. Their intensity on that end created 27 turnovers from the state's #6 ranked team. They probably had a high number too, but they were more disruptive in this game. Plays of the game: Dishman drive for two to tie it back up late. Brooks charge giving #25 her fifth foul. Boyatt block and late key rebound off missed basket by Meigs. Bertram re-entering with four fouls and neutralizing Meigs effectiveness in post. Dishman 3 pointer to answer Meigs go ahead 3. Oneida guards defensive play in second quarter in the 2-3 zone. They were in shooters face contesting every shot in that stretch dispite not having a true post in the paint (freshman) Thomas steal for wide open lay-up in the fourth quarter. All plays at key points in the ball game. Kazoo
  3. Oneida winning the region last night is a bracket buster for many. Most had Meigs Co. and South Greene heading to the Glass House and that won't be possible unless SG loses to Hampton. We have obviously been the spoiler, but I have said all along that they have some very good pieces and they just needed to be playing great at the right time. Well, guess what, they are hitting their stride at the right time.....! Kazaloopy
  4. Well crap.....it looks like my girls stood tall in the region finals.....so I get to keep giving shout outs to them on the keyboard. What an outstanding game last night, two solid teams that carried themselves right into OT. I think utilizing the press early was good for us as it began to tire Meigs some as the game went on and probably forced them out of their own press a little sooner than they wanted. There were numerous big plays by players from both teams with our girls making just a few more in key moments. Really a wild ride....and the two best teams ended up showing everyone how they got to the championship. No question about the MVP of the region, I believe she made numerous big shots when the Lady Indians needed them most and the freshman post made two large plays late in this game (the key rebound off missed basket and the clean blocked shot on the next to last possession). Love that we will host Saturday Night....that is a big deal. Kazanity
  5. I agree.....the hill is steep either way. Certainly would benefit if you are shooting up the hill in your own gym....! I saw SG last year.....very good bb team. Kaz
  6. I wouldn't totally discount Oneida out.....that is a team that (when they playing well) beat Clarkrange in the regular season. They probably have no business making it there, but anything is possible, right? Kazzy
  7. I think it will be an interesting game to watch....if the Jeckle/Hyde Oneida Team keeps their true identity then they can give Meigs fits. Guess we'll know before long. Kazzy
  8. Pujo, hear the Hampton girls are still kicking too. Good for them. I would love to get to chatting it up with Meigs supporters before the big game....! Shout out to Oneida's student section. Great support and lively crowd last night. Kazaloopy
  9. I have no crystal ball, only going by what I see. Meigs Co. has some good pieces.....Oneida has some good pieces and if they both come to play it should be a fun game to watch. Of course I am leaning heavily towards my home town girls. Both teams are probably not as good as the previous group but you can tell they carry themselves like winning programs. They both showed some vurnerability although Oneida got their ship righted a little better in the end. Meigs needed one of their strongest players to make a play in the end (she came up big with the turnover) and then made both of her free throws on the other end. If GCA had needed two points there.....the guards would have at least made it an interesting trip to the rim. I'm no expert at all.....the team that comes to play can surely win this championship. Kazam
  10. I believe they can throw me in the padded cell once these kids are finished....at least til Lambert starts slinging the leather next fall. Don't have any idea what the next batch has in store for us? Might have to watch some spring ball....! azatooly
  11. Glory be.....it's like rooting out chickens from the hen house these days. You would think these folks carry a little school pride and want to chat a bit. Good to hear from you though, Pujo....least there are still some dinasours still out there like me....! Kaz
  12. This could end up being a fabulous game unless the Lady Indians have gotten in Wartburg"s head. I think Meigs will beat GCA by at least a touchdown and FG. Oneida pulls away in the end for a two touchdown win. (yeah I am going to get hammered for that prediction.....but I got faith in the girls. Kazaloo
  13. Big Game.....apparently everyone is afraid to poke the dragon....! Go Lady Indians....! Kaz
  14. Jackson was a fine player. Some have gone on to have good college careers (as she did), but the mark of a great player is sometimes relative to the distance that player can advance in the playoffs. Of course that doesn't mean there hasn't been players that were considered great that did not help their teams go deep into the post season....it just seems (to me) to be one of the marks of a truly great player. Laxton was seriously the defining player on the Oneida State Championship Team, and the players around her were solid/well coached players that knew their roles. Jackson and some other players at Oneida were certainly very good players that anyone would have loved on their team and obviously you build around those type players. On a side note.....I managed to call the games pretty accurately. How do you all think the semi finals will go tonight? I would like to see Oneida over Wartburg and Meigs over GCA. Both have arguably been the best two teams this year and they will give each other some problems with the players they have on the floor. Kazam
  15. Oneida hasn't really had a "superstar" since Branae Laxton graduated....they have certainly had plenty of fine players. Sometimes having a great team is way better than having a great individual. Of course it helps when someone drives the ship....! kaz
  16. Defensively Oneida is very strong....I'm sure they will throw multiple players at TP's strongest player. They also can shoot the 3 ball, with any one of several players......I believe they have as many as 9 players with at least one 3 this year. They are pretty good around the rim too. They have plenty of excellent players just no superstar....any on of them can get hot. Kaz
  17. NMS......hey....there is life on the planet CoachT....! How you think Oneida-TP will go? I can not get my head around them losing to Rockwood twice, because I have seen the Tigers and they are not very good IMO. Heck, there are several teams with head scratching outcomes this year (Oneida losing to GB)(complete disappearance) Oneida beating Clarkrange? again....where in the heck did that come from? Does the fact that the Lady Indians have beaten Coalfield by double digits all three times play into TP's heads? Wanting that Monday game in the worst way to happen with a win going in to get the momentum flowing again. Kazar
  18. My assessment is neutral. and I have witnessed all three play at least one game this year. PC might benefit from the large court in M'boro, but they will have to shoot it well for them to win. CR and SG both have strong post play which appears to be difficult for PC to handle....at least it has been for two of the three they have played against CR. I think SG has the best player in Lamb and she will give PC and CR fits because she works so hard and can get her shot off against taller defenders. Can she stop Meadows if they end up meeting? I doubt it but she should be able to hamper her because she is strong too. (If she gets in foul trouble then Meadows could rule the paint against them) My bet is that SG sees them both and they retain the gold ball because they really play well on the big stage. One other assessment.....they will all three be in M'boro because they are extremely tough outs. Kaz
  19. If I am right with the outcomes, then each district will have a representative in the region title game. The GCA-Sunbright game is giving me the weirdest vibe, because I thought Sunbright did a very good job against a good Oneida Team and I won't be surprised if they beat GCA and prove my prediction wrong. GCA has been in several regions over the last few seasons and it is just hard to gauge how Sunbright will react to getting their feet wet for the first time. All that being said, I am whole heartedly rooting for the Lady Tigers to win that one....! Anyone got anything to post on the other region's teams. How is TP? Haven't seen Meig's, TP, or GCA this year, but most accounts have them all not being as strong as their last team? Does anyone even care or is the gag rule in effect....? lol Kazoo
  20. For the first time that I can remember.....each of these four games can be won by either team. I would think Coalfield has the steepest hill to climb because Meigs is playing pretty well right now. Both of the 2 vs. 3 match ups are going to be decided by whoever brings the most grit to the floor. Sunbright getting to play at home should help them a little, but GCA has some experience and that could go a long way in a hostile environment. Oneida has been to TP in years past and has been able to handle the challenge. This group needs to start getting after it....they have the pieces to make a run. Wartburg may find Greenback to be a pest. I can say the GB win over Oneida was probably as bad as Oneida played all year....they were just not ready to play that day. Hopefully everyone realizes they don't have the luxury of taking any more days off or your going to get beat. My guess: Meigs Co. over Coalfield by 11 Wartburg over Greenback by 10 Oneida over TP by 7 GCA over Sunbright by 2 Kazzy P.S. I hope all our district teams win their game....I am rooting for them all.....!
  21. Wartburg vs. Greenback Someone help me here? Honestly don't know......lol......I do know my Lady Indians meet TP Kaz
  22. Who wins the first round games? TP vs. Oneida Coalfield vs. Meigs Sunbright vs. GCA Wartburg vs. Rockwood?
  23. Who are the first round region games? Anyone with the full girls slate? What day? Kaz
  24. Observations anyone.....? Here's mine: - I'll go on record to say Coach West is definitely the best recipient for COY this season. Been hearing a bunch of yak about the upset in the tournament makes Coach Yaden the new best choice. That is a bunch of hogwash.....West had his team ready for every game but one in the regular season....the award is for the whole season not one game. The vote they took at the coaches meeting was correct.....and to insinuate otherwise is bogus IMO. - Coach Yaden had a excellent game plan the other night against Oneida. They pounded the boards and never allowed Oneida to get into transition. They were content to let Oneida fire away outside as long as no one hit shots consistently and worked the boards to take away second chance points. I'm just guessing here but I would say they outrebounded the Lady Indians by a comfortable margin. On offense they repeatedly were aggressive going to the rim and didn't settle for outside looks....I don't remember them hitting a 3 but they didn't shoot many. - No one here will look ahead. They have to be focused on the game at hand....the region has some interesting early games. You better bring it now or your season is done. Kazzator
