6 > 2 = won  ..AC played in super soft region no where near the SOS we had.. just wait you will take notice ..and you wont have to worry about a running clock here ..not going to happen ..why expose all your goods anyway ..the less you have to study on us the better ..the main thing is don't get excited...

Ahh... so yall only scored 6 on purpose. I see Coach Broom is using a little Muhammad Ali rope-a dope on Ballard and company. How's the depth in skill positions? Your guys still playing both ways for 4 quarters?

By the way,  you’re a disgrace to the good Greeneville folks on here like devilman and BVD.

For the record, I have not poked fun at an injured kid, just the fans who always use it as an excuse for losing. And I can have an opinion about how effective I think a game is coached especially one I have seen. I watched both the Greeneville and AC games and I believe he had talent underutilized in both games. Now I understand you lost your starting QB in the first quarter but it's not like Russell hasn't been utilized in that position before.  Witten coached that game like he didn't know what to do. It was the same in the Greeneville game. He was all set to defend the pass and seemed off balance when Ballard came out with a bruising run game.  I've known a lot of great football coaches. My dad was one. One thing they have in common is adaptability. We saw it last year in the Greeneville/ AC game. Both coaches were able to adjust to the adversity they faced and it made for one of the best games of the play-offs. I really do agree that it should have been the state championship game.

So basically your talking about recruiting?  Don’t be an idiot.

I'm pretty sure when you field a state championship team and have kids getting recruited to d1 college programs you don't have to recruit. Its like Field of Dreams...if you build it they will come.

In your 67 years you’re bumped your head one too many times.  We made the move from 4A to 3A a few years back because we are a 3A school.  When TSSAA made region adjustments and put away games were 2+ hours away they decided 4A would be a better fit for travel,  and that was done without approval of coach Witten.  That’s neither here nor there now.  Talk about recruiting?  How many Greeneville guys should be attending the county HS?  It happens in every system so stop acting like he gets some wealth of talent and he is alone doing it.  I hardly doubt Coach Witten is worried about David Crockett or should we say the Science Hill county school.  Barb,  get off your high horse.

That's BS...Greeneville was always a non-conference game for Elizabethton and had nothing to do with region adjustments. And I said nothing about recruiting. I said attracting talent and there are plenty of local kids bailing out of Johnson and Sullivan County because of program disarray and plenty of parents willing to relocate for a better opportunity for their kid.  If TSSAA approves the new transfer rules these kids will be able to transfer to schools with different classification without having to sit. If I were a coach anywhere in NET, I would not miss a chance at some of these kids.

This “girl” really has something for Witten.  What’s the bone you have to pick,  let us all know.  All you hear from you is how bad he is.

I thought he called a crappy game against Greeneville, given the wealth of talent at his disposal.  And this "girl" is a 67 year old lady who has been around Greeneville football for almost 20 years. I remember the first "official" scheduling change Witten made was to drop Greeneville, ending one of their longest standing rivalries. He had to listen to a whole lotta crap that season from all sides. It was right after Zeller left Greeneville and they brought that guy MacCurry in from NC.  Seems like Betsy has a hard time getting past the second round of the playoffs, despite a very competitive non-conference schedule. Now that all the talented kids in NET are taking a hard look at David Crockett, Witten may not attract the local talent he used to get from up in the mountains and Johnson City. He always has talented athletes that never really get noticed outside of NET.

Nobody reads the newspaper anymore. The old man and I were taking it on Sunday's only but I got tired of paying for 5 lbs of ads and no news. It may be that Prepxtra is all they have to keep them afloat.

You have one of those!? You think we can get a Drew Lock one for next Saturday? I really would like to see Pruitt and the Vols go bowling in year 1.

Ok but I will need a few strands of his hair or some nail clippings. Do you know if there will be a full moon before then?

Be careful of what you say...we all hope everyone stays healthy but at any given point someone could get hurt and that is a part of playing football....lol that is why I was a punter lol...

Ok guys,  I am not wishing an injury on this kid. The point is that his injuries are always called out by AC fans as convenient excuses for losses. No doubt it was his injuries that led to those 3-7 seasons. I hated when he was injured last year however Mav fans continue to point to it as the reason for the Greeneville win.  So if Greeneville lays a fire-snot whoopin' on them Friday night, I want it to  be because they are bigger, faster, stronger and better coached not because of the loss of a key Mav player. Now you boys dial it back a notch.  Yall act like I have broken out my Martin voodoo doll and started sticking pins in it.

The “but” at the end signifies your small mind. He’s not one that worries about what’s next. This is a kid that truly puts his faith in God and trusts whatever comes next for him. There’s thousands of kids that are probably twice as talented as any kid you’ve even seen that decide to chase an education over sports every year. Please at least try to have an intelligent point of view before you speak. You’re embarrassing yourself with every post. You might end up the leader of the pack before nights end. SMH again!

It was a simple question. I am sure this kid has a plan for his future. It isn't a question of "chasing education over sports".  For a lot of these kids sports opens the door to education. A scholarship to play at the collegiate level is a precious gift.  I don't think it is out of line to ask if a Mr Football nominated superman like Stanton is going to play in college given the pedestal you are building for him in Clinton. I mean seriously, every time the subject comes up it is deflected. We started looking at colleges for my kids when they were Juniors. Our son chose the military over college sports. He had a different calling. But he knew early that was the direction he was going in.  I just don't understand why you all get so testy. It seems to be Anderson County's best kept secret.

  10. Sorry to disappoint everyone but I have been posting on this matchup EVERY YEAR for several of them and the story has been the same from AC Fans... Martin is great but hurt.  So what...I hope this year is different. I hope Stanton faces Greeneville in all his glory. Obviously its the only way Greeneville will get any respect  ( or not ) from you folks in Clinton. If the dude gets hurt again early this year, you just need to own it and move on. However, Noone seems to pin down his recruiting. What's up with that?

WOW.....barb, you need to retract this one IMO. I know us Greene Devils fans have had alot of fun on here recently and have been afforded the opportunity to see a great great era of Devils football like none before and probably after this one is over, but I like to think....no, i KNOW that this isnt the normal vernacular of the Greene Devil nation. Im actually shocked those words came out of your......fingers. Sure, Cade has been very fortunate to have stayed mostly injury free throughout his HS career to this point, but i feel like i should remind you that karma is a mofo and that could change with one play gone wrong. I wish/hope for nothing but the best for all the kids on ours and every other team we play and would never make the statement you made here. Please tell me you had had one too many of something, anything...before you made this comment!

p.s. dear karma gods, please disregard barbs comment here.

well, im not sure WHAT people think of me anymore on here because of how my posts have changed so much this year from the way they use to be. It seems alot of people think im all of a sudden this trash talking, disrespectful, arrogant, classless  guy and that couldnt be further from the truth. I have changed the tone of my posts this season only to have some fun with mostly you AC fans....most particularly mavsinflight...and we've had a good year of fun doing it. My posts have changed, my character has not. I will never condone  or support anyone making sideways comments about a kids injury, injuries or the potential of injury, regardless of which team a person is a fan of, theres no room for that on here, or anywhere else. It's my hope that barb meant nothing by it and that maybe i'm over reacting.

The FANS are responsible for what is posted on coacht. I am sick to death of AC fans posting "but the torn ACL" last season. If  they dish it, they better take it. The kid is tough enough to take the expectations that are heaped on him by the many fans. Its too much to heap on 1 kid.  Same for Ballard. However it is ultimately coming down to the performance of Mr Football.  I just think that these 2 teams need to play the cards they are dealt...injury or not. Stop with the excuses/ expectations on 1 kid. Maybe it is the defense or the receivers that make the difference. If so i'm liking  my devils. All about the D... Not backing down
