It may be a possibility that coaches have their favorites and their "go to" players. You say that just look out there is talent headed on the way. Harriman Middle School Football has had several championship teams in the past few years. Those players aren't on the high school team. Many of those players transfer to other schools where the opportunities are based on attitude, performance and coachability. Look back, the sucess that Harriman football has had in the past came from players that had been coached by other head coaches and were finishing out their last years under the current coaching staff. Go to practice, watch, see if you see that stuff in the game. Go to the field house, look around at the garbage; commodes that don't work and haven't worked in awhile, hold your breath because there are alot of unwashed uniforms and practice clothes hanging on the pipes. Consider the discipline: do players lose playing time for not showing up for practice or do they stay out of practice all week and play in the game on Friday nite, what are the rules and when you break a team rule are you disciplined fairly based on stated rules and consequences or do you even get punished? Does it depend on who you are, who your parents are, if your parents are helping run the program or on the head coaches whims! Check with previous players, let them tell you how it really it! Then you may understand why players have no heart, no determination, no desire--could it be because they get no instruction, no dedication from the coaches, no concern, no motivation--those things are the job of the coaching staff anywhere football is played.
Afterall coaches are the adults and it is their responsiblity to motivate, teach and model the attributes that they should be expecting from each player!!
