  1. Greeneville has the best player and the best inside attack, so give them the edge.

East has the best athletes and alot of experience.

Cocke Co. has a solid inside outside attack.

Cherokee has those seniors who as 8th graders went undefeated plus a big freshman.

Jeff Co. returns alot of experience, only losing one player from last years squad.

West is young, but a good young. Lots of speed and quickness.

Could be like last year Greeneville 10-0 everyone else 4-6

This year Greeneville 8-2 everyone else 6-4

  2. Oh so you are just doing what MEDIA always does. Last year, West was just a bit more talented and Crumbley was a bit less experienced....LAST YEAR...been over for a year now Mr Media...DZ did you know the media was supposed to be unfair to successful women coaches...Jeez PT might be a good idea to put that shovel away before you dig a hole so deep you can't get out.

This PT guy is just about annoying...Is Galyon the best coach in the district? region? state? I think so to hear you talk about it PT...3 wins this season in the district? that's not doing too much out coaching in my opinion! According to the people that was actually at the g-ville/west game earlier in the year, Galyon made some rather POOR decisions during the game....glad to hear that you just do what all of the other media people do also..

  3. I believe they hav e a big girl about 6'2" that is just a Freshman. She had knee surgery and may be just starting to come back. Anyone seen her play?

Freshman name is Ashlee Acuff...She has the potential to be a very good player. Saw her play as an 8th grader just needs to be used in the right way..didn't see that last year...

  4. I gotta disagree on the Potts comment, otherwise you made a good post here. He doesn't do much to develop the players there, but instead simply relies on using what's developed at the middle school levels.

Ask him and he'll tell you point blank that he doesn't teach basketball, he coaches it. What kind of a statement is that for a head basketball coach at the high school level? I'll tell you what kind, a sorry kind, that's what.

Otherwise, good post. Very accurate on the fact that nobody sells athletics in this community. It's a shame with all the great kids we have here in Jefferson County. Of course, it's a whole can of worms. We don't have a larger band because kids are forced to choose between P.E. and band at school and kids simply quit band because they don't want to have to give up P.E., etc etc etc.

Just reading and catching up on all the gossip. Why is basketball mentioned? This is a football board. By your comments you seem disappointed with the basketball coach too. How many basketball practices have you been to? Have things changed at that school? Had to make a post, haven't been back in town very long.

  5. It's good to see the JC adminstration supporting their coaches. Parents should not determine playing time. The big thing parents need to remember is. participating in high school sports is a privilage, not a right.

  6. Coaching is easy. Pick the team, scrimmage a few times then get on the bus. Buy a Joe Piscapo coaching book

Complain about not having good enough players

Have some good excuses-my best player is sick, my kids don't listen to me, the gym is to dark, etc.

    tell all we are rebuilding

    act like you care

    collect your check

bingo-you just had a great season coaching and if it was for lack of talent you would have be coach of the year

  7. Double H,

I've seen Lambert coach as well...he's better off as an assistant to someone that knows more about hoops.

Just never have been impressed with him as a coach.

    sportsdude04,

Have you ever seen one of his practices or morning workouts? Have you ever been to one of his summer sessions with his kids? Do you really know just exactly how much talent is there? I wish my kids could have had the oppertunity to play for him. Lambert is about the kids and will give his time to any player who wants to get better.
