  1. Which one? I hear several are possibly planned?
  2. Stone, Thanks for the positive remarks about the program at Farragut. It is because of our coaching staff and facilities (maintained lovingly by Pharr himself I will add) that quality kids want to play with a quality program. Win or lose in the years to come the Admirals will not need to recruit. Farragut is a growing part of Knoxville and new families are moving in everyday....and like you and I have said, parents will do their research. Sounds like you could not covince your son to come to Farragut....oh well good luck to you both anyway at Baylor/McCallie/Notre Dame...whichever.
  3. Hoser is right about Kirkland......he has all the tools, hitting, glove, arm.....if there is a little rub on Chris it would be he is a bit slow-a-foot, but when you rip in the gaps like he does.....so what if he dosen't lead the team in triples. Scott Dean at Farragut is a quality receiver....but he does play behind McKenry and that is a tough hill to climb.
  4. You guy's are being silly.........my son's team played in the AAA finals.....4 games.....we didn't have time for Ruth's Chris or anyplace like that......we're there to play baseball.....not go to Graceland. My wife is from Mphs and I know my way around pretty well....yeah it's spread out....and I would prefer that the tourney was in Middle TN - I agrre it's more central for all....but Millington is really no further from U of Mphs than Lee U from Engel........and the key will be getting to play at all.....so we'll be happy to play in Union City if thats where it's gonna be.....hope you see my sons team there......no matter where it's played.
  5. I agree, Coach T has provided a terrific avenue for information. I was new to the board about mid-season and learned a lot about the workings of high school ball....on and off the field. I will be a Coach T traveler from now on. Thanks
  6. One more thing.....I really don't have any trouble with Mphs.....the key is having the opportunity to be in it at all. I would drive to Europe to play in the state tourney. You will never please everyone. It just seems that it would be better for a larger number of people to be more centrally located. I'm in the east and that wouldn't make much sense either.
  7. I don't want to start a huge deal over this, but it takes approx. 3 to 3 1/2 hrs to drive from Mphs to Chatt.....2 to 2 1/2 Nash/Murf......from Knox to Chatt 1 1/2 to 2.....to Nash/Murf 2 1/2 to 3.....John/Brist/Kings to Chatt 3 to 4 hrs.....to Nash/Murf 3 to 4.......Mphs 5 to 6 1/2.....there is no way around it - Middle TN. ( Nash/Murf/Chatt)provides the overall best driving for all areas of the state.
  8. I love the city of Memphis....it's big fun, good food, and nice people - no matter what others say, however, what will be lost.....particularly for the E. TN. teams..... is the student fan. Mom's and Dad's will be there no matter where it's played. I saw huge student followings from the Farragut and Bearden kids to support their teams....that's likely to gone from E. TN. and more than likely Mid. TN. also.....thats what I think is the big bummer in this action. The facilities will be spruced up no matter where it's played.
  9. Does anyone know where I can pick up one of these magazines in the Knoxville/Maryville area?
  10. Several people spoke with Brad's father on why they moved to Farragut instead of back where they lived before in N. Knoxville....what he told us was that he asked one of the Dad's they played youth ball with and were told to go to the Farragut area for 3 reasons....1) was the eventual resale of their home, 2) the quality of the educaion at this school in Knox Co., 3) the baseball program was excellent......who told him this - Lovett's Dad from Central.
  11. Congrats Nick.......good luck and keep low and away.
  12. Of course it's wide open for next year....that's why they schedule the games....and I will assume that you will play in them....any given day....any given team. Granted they haven't done it....but they do play for it every year.....but next year is still up for grabs. The center fielder last year was a Soph.....who went to Farragut elementary, Jr, etc....I assume you meant 2 years ago when Traylor played at Farragut....and I can only take your word that you were part of the negotiation....let's just leave it for the players to play it out next year.....best team wins.
  13. I moved back to Knoxville after 13 years out of state. I went to another West Knoxville high school and wanted to live in the area of town where I grew up....so I, like many parents, did a little homework. 1st I looked at where my son might get a good education.....Farragut is rated a blue ribbon school by the state of Tennessee when it comes to academics. 2nd it has a terrific student base of good kids, and "oh by the way" 3rd a "quality" baseball program with a "quality coach" who works hard to create a "quality" atmosphere for his players. So, just like many people who research where they would like to go college or get a job.......I saw the local enviornment, the educational facility and the baseball program were I wanted my son to play ball....by doing the research.....and if a family wants to pick up and move....which is never a inexpensive endeavor....so their son can play under these conditions......."Quality" is always the best, most effective, and most silent recruiter.
  14. The list looks pretty much the same as of 5/21.
