  1. 1.) Knox Webb will be very good for another year. Lot's of good linemen, Beeler (good athlete) to QB, and good RB's, but not like last year.2.) Friendship has to get better to keep up with everyone else. We will see how much they have improved from last year's fairly inexperienced team that had some high profile players. 3.) BGA is going to be a force to reckon with. When the Wildcats match up against the Spartans we will find out if they can make a legitimate run. Most of their starters are back on each side of the ball. Combine that with good coaching and you have a fine team. 4.) FRA returns 1 offensive lineman, but has every skill guy back except their fullback, which was a good player. The Panthers have lots of playmakers, but could be in for a long year in the trenches. Whittemore is smart and will figure out a way to utilize his teams strengths. 5.) DCA is going to be a contender. They return 3 offensive linemen, every RB, and all but 1 receiver. If Goodwin can replace Reddick at QB, then the sky is the limit for the Wildcats. 6.) Davidson will most certainly be better. Most of their line returns along with some of their key skill guys. Match that with new life being pumped in by Coach Quinn and the Bears can be dangerous. 7.) Ezell-Harding: The biggest difference between Ezell and Davidson is the athletes the Eagles have on the roster. Ezell has 5-6 skill players that any team would love to have, but the trenches will be an entire different story. These two play early and could leave an impression early on which program has improved the most. 8.) MJCA is back to the drawing board. They will be very young with kids that had success in middle school, but it will take a few years for that to translate over to winning on Friday Nights. 9.) King's Academy was left off the list, but allow me to add them. They have some good skill players returning (one of the best in Maduafokwa) and a good coach. They upset Ezell last year and are probably looking to do the same in 2014 and add a few more victims to the list. Overall, I believe Division IIA will be more competitive in the Middle/East Regions with several teams looking to make some noise and a run to Cookeville.
  2. I would think that BGA will be one of the top 3 teams to beat next season. They are losing very few seniors, a couple of good ones though, and most of their skill players are back. The Wildcats have a good shot at making it to the Blue Cross Bowl.
  3. Then you take your own advise and stay out of the FC threads. You have been trolling and knocking FC for over a week. That makes you a sorry troll! I have not in any way put down DCA as a school or program, which can't be said for you. Pretty pathetic.
  4. Wow! The clock beat you. All this time I thought it was because the Wildcats gave up 52 points!
  5. Playerscoach is a troll that is green with envy over FC's success. I think DCA has a great shot at winning. Actually, I believe they will be playing in Cookeville.
  6. I thought we were having a healthy debate over this topic, which I don't have a problem with you personally or DCA. For some reason you are getting mad and taking pop shots at me for the second time. Don't get upset over this issue and be the grammar/spelling police. It is petty and demonstrates that you are losing the debate.
  7. You are intelligent enough to understand the difference. 378 student/athletes to maybe 30-40 student/athletes. Big difference would you not say? Also, the TSSAA is not consistent on this. They classify sports based on the student body the program has to choose from to form their team. It is not the case with the co-op schools. Also, I know for a fact that FC called the TSSAA about McClain co-oping with them. Now, they did not want to do it, but rather they wanted to hear their response based on another ruling the TSSAA made on co-oping. The TSSAA said that they believed MJCA needed it more for their program than FC, therefore, those kids would go there. Two problems, the ruling was inconsistent because previously the TSSAA did not allow a bowler from Gordonsville to bowl with FC because other schools between the two offered bowling. FC is closer to McClain than MJCA. Second, the TSSAA should not be in the business of determining which programs should receive help over others.
  8. Not a problem. Now, accept their enrollment.
  9. I completely agree Fbboys. My stance is that public school kids that attend a school that does not offer football should not be punished. Those kids have no choice on where they go due to zoning or socioeconomic circumstances. A private school is entirely different, also, I am a private school guy. When a parent sends his or her child to a private school they have a choice and know that they don't offer a particular sport. I am for the TSSAA not allowing a private school to co-op with any school, but if they do then they must except their enrollment numbers.
  10. Well, the coach's around Div II A see the distinct advantage that DCA has. It is not about the amount of kids playing football or the success of the team. The TSSAA classifies based on enrollment and if DCA takes the student/athletes from USN, then they should take their enrollment. If it was based on success, then bring JPII and St. Benedict down to Div II A because they sure can't compete in Div. II AA. USN has 378 kids, they should start their own football team because they have way more kids than DCA, and be classified accordingly. Instead, USN sends their kids to DCA and they are not counted. How is that fair? I understand that you are a DCA supporter and will defend them to the end, but there is a major advantage being given to DCA, which has been acknowledged by people outside of DCA and FC too. I would think that this is going to be addressed with the TSSAA.
  11. The entire TSSAA classification process in both divisions is predicated on the number of students a program has to pick from. Based on your logic if Antioch, Gallatin, Maryville, etc... only had 25 kids come out for football then they should be 1A. Also, in case you have forgotten, DCA needed a second shot at FC based on the final outcome. Best of luck against St. George's.
  12. Just because it is going on it does not make it right. If a school is going to co-op with another school, then that school should have to accept their enrollment when they classify. Let DCA take USN's kids, but their enrollment should be 615 kids because that is the pool of student/athletes they have to choose from to form a football team, of course, it would push them to Div-II AA.
  13. It is very interesting that you bring this up VC because word about this arrangement has begun to get out amongst the coaches in Div-II A and let's just say that the response has been less than favorable. To say that DCA has a major advantage over the other schools they compete with would be a major understatement. DCA has an enrollment of 237 students, while USN has 378 students. First, how can a private school co-op with another school when those kids and parents made the choice to attend a school without a football program? Second, how can DCA take these kids and not take the enrollment of the school they are accepting the kids from. The issue is not about the amount of kids from USN that compete in football at DCA, but it is about the pool of kids that DCA has to choose from. That number is 615 kids that DCA has an enrollment number to choose from.
  14. My thoughts exactly RedRobin. Got a few posters that are doing some bashing after the fact and don't know the first thing about FC as a school or program. St. George's played a great game and showed great hospitality to the Commanders off the field. Classy staff and I wish them the best.
  15. I have to agree on all accounts.
  16. This game has the makings of a classic. I believe that each team brings strengths to the table that the other will have a hard time to defend. In my opinion DCA has the better qb and a slight edge in the passing game. When DCA runs the ball the edge goes to BGA because of their interior. BGA will have an advantage running the ball, but I see their passing game as a toss up to DCA's secondary. BGA 28 DCA 24
  17. WesVLT, I always enjoy reading your predictions and rankings on the teams in Div-II AA. I would love to see you put together a Div-II A ranking and prediction post. I don't know if you have the time or want to, but I know there are others that would enjoy reading your thoughts and comments.
  18. You are correct. Believe me when I say that I see your point and part of me wants to agree, but if their (Webb's) enrollment allows them to stay Div-II A and that is where they want to dominate, then that is their right. It is up to the other teams competing, including Friendship Christian, to either raise our standards or go back to Div I. Personally, I would love to see all the privates come to Div-II and make 3 classifications. But, every private school has different struggles and circumstances and must do what is best for their school.
  19. You get $8,000 per student/athlete if the need based aid is divided equally. I don't know and won't act as if I know how Ensworth divides out their aid. But, I am not about to believe that all 123 students receive the same aid equally. For example, If 10 football players are on a full ride, then that would equal $210,000 in aid, since it is slightly over $21,000 to go to Ensworth. This would leave over $800,000 to give to others. Ensworth can stack a pretty good team with the right student/athletes, which they have, and there is nothing wrong with that. The last thing that I want this to sound like is some type of bash on Ensworth because it is not. I respect the school and their football program and they have worked very hard to produce the teams that they have put on the field in recent years. Ensworth and others (BA, MUS, Baylor, McCallie,...) in Div-II AA had made a commitment to have the premier football programs in the state of Tennessee, which starts with the administration. From speaking with some Webb supporters they don't have that support at the top. This is simply and opinion and the team that I support has to get better in order to stand up to the Spartans, which I understand and welcome the challenge.
  20. I was on the Ensworth website one time and I believe that I read that they gave out over 1 million dollars in need based financial aid in one school year. If they are handing that out to 123 kids, then a huge percentage of those kids are on a full ride. How many times has a thread started about Webb needing to go D-II AA? I am not a Webb supporter, but I respect their program and the rest of us must raise our game to them because they have the right to remain in D-II A. Also, I can assure you that Webb's mission and Enswroth's mission are very different when it comes to football.
  21. Mt. Juliet Christian is in the same region as Webb, but opted not to play Webb, which the Spartans agreed to. MJCA figured it would be in their best interest to pick up a different game that they could compete in as to play Webb and receive that result. But, since they are in the same district a forfeit win had to be given to Webb for playoff purposes.
  22. Didn't he break his hand or wrist?
  23. Because Division II schools are not allowed to recruit. It really is amazing how misinformed most people are when it comes to the TSSAA rules. Of course, they are set up like our tax system.
  24. Awesome! A couple of years back we scrimmaged up at Sycamore and they took good care of the team. Great burgers!
