  1. Walker Valley was much better and the score indicated that. WV played hard and were into it the entire game. Honestly though, I don't see them matching up with Powell very well. Powell is bigger up front, their DB's won't matchup well with Powell's passing game and I believe if Powell elects to run the ball. Walker Valley will have trouble with that too. I don't see this game being that close. 35-14 Powell.

  2. I went down and watched Soddy-Daisy and Walker Valley on Friday. Typically Soddy  has a good quarterback, great receivers and big lineman. I didn't see any of that Friday. This is the 16th time since 1999 that we've played them and in my opinion, this is the weakest team they have had. This doesn't mean an OR win  this week but I do feel good about it if we play our game.

  3. I am extremely biased so I'll say that from the beginning and I mean no disrespect to Madison at all. She is a fine talent but...having watched last night's game and the two battle. Jada Guinn is more the complete player in my opinion.  She involves her teammates more as demonstrated by her triple double. 34 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Madison was a good shot blocker and scored the bulk of their points but she took far more shots than Jada. I believe Jada is surrounded by more scorers than Hayes and that might account for her having to shoot more but in that battle last night; the clear better player was Jada Guinn.

After living in Chattanooga for 18 years, I am just thankful for whatever David Clary is able to put on the Internet. I think he does a great job of keeping me up to date on Wildcats sports. RWR!

Thank you for positive words. We do the best we can with our limited resources. I understand his frustration because I too was frustrated last night.   It has been an ongoing issue this season inside the Arena. That is partly the reason our radio games are away from the Arena. We will look for solutions to this issue in the off-season.

Tried 97.2 to see if quality is any better. No broadcast at all. What's up with that?

We only have sponsors for the away games on the radio. The internet has proven to be a major issue for us in the arena. It is a major concern for sure. Sorry for the trouble you had listening.  We addressed it with school administration last night. Hopefully a solution will come of it. The Tournament games will be on FM 92.7. Thank you for your concern. Trust me nobody is more upset about it than I am. David Clary

  6. I have watched the ground shot taken just a few feet away from the helmet play to which you refer. Elliott was wearing his padded cast and can't grab with his right hand. He extended the cast arm towards the Cherokee player and the padded part was pressed up against his helmet and as he raised his left hand it just popped off. If that play is the only play that you point to as Oak Ridge playing cheap. I am sorry to say, You are wrong in this case. He looked as shocked as anyone in the stadium as he looked down at the helmet in his hand He then dropped it where he stood. I will send you the film if you like. I have been watching high School football for over 40 years and I have never seen a team celebrate a late hit on the closing play of a game like they did. To allow the players #51 and I believe #55 to keep playing forms my opinion on the coaching staff. I believe they were the dirtiest team we have ever played and a few select players seem to be proud of it.

  7. I am a radio announcer and have been for 30 years. There are good refs and there are bad. I have come to the point where I will point out poor officiating when I see it and I will call them out by name. I have been told many times that the official doesn't make enough money for such treatment and that it's a thankless job. I agree. I think they have a very hard job and not everybody will be happy depending on how the game is going for each group of fans. I don't do it as a personal attack because we all make mistakes in life but when a official tells me that they should remain nameless I take exception. I have said this more than once. There are 13 people on the court and only three of them are getting paid for their work. When a kid makes a poor pass or throws up a air ball then their name gets spoken on the air as doing such. This is for my team and on the opponents. It is my job as an announcer to paint the picture of the game and if the officials are making a huge impact then its my responsibility to point it out. Sure its my opinion and I might be biased but if I put my name out there for people to critique me and the players do the same, I think the officials should be held accountable too. I also point out good calls that the fans might see as wrong.

My theory of officiating games is that if it is not a "train wreck" and doesn't hinder the outcome or progress of the play then let it go. I would much rather watch the ten players than the three other guys on the floor. I also liked it better when there were only two refs doing games. Going back to that format would help I think in two ways. One, I think there would be less ticky tack fouls called. Two, the shortage of good refs would be eased and the not so good refs would be weeded out. Just one mans opinion.

  9. Being a life long Oak Ridge fan, I don't know where some of you think Oak Ridge fans are Maryville haters. We have always respected the program and look forward to the day when our program is back at the same level it was a few years ago. Oak Ridge has had a long proud tradition of winning too and know what it is like to have the bullseye on your back. Good Luck Maryville the rest of the way and we are happy to have you back on the schedule for the next two years.

  13. Hey, I am the radio announcer for a station that broadcast Oak Ridge sports since 1948. We contact each school in early summer about us coming to broadcast. George Quarrls called me in advance and told me that the pressbox wasn't big enough for our entire crew. We have had a working relationship with him for years and I appreciated this call. I didn't complain here about this and for you to throw insults at a station loyal high school sports for over 60 years show a little something about you and your ideals. I'm looking forward to McMinn County this Friday night and yes, we do have a spot in their box.

  14. I enjoyed my 20 minute interview with Andy Shattuck that will be on the radio AM1290 and FM 101.1 right around 7:00 PM tonight. That will be followed by Scott Blade and the game. For fans outside of the area please listen tonight on Prepradio.com. This will be the 34th Oak Ridge vs Clinton game I have broadcast and I am just as excited today as I was in 1976. Good Luck to both teams and may the best team win.. I hope it's Oak Ridge.
