Alcoa is the best team in all classes and I agree if Betsy was in another class like 4A it would have had a great chance this year they just ran into the best team in the state in 1a-6a.

This week it is Etown as the big underdog by playing the Mighty Alcoa boys. There is a storm coming through etown this friday. Hopefully it will be a CYCLONE!

How great is it to be a Player for either team right now! Alcoa has GREAT tradition and is a very good football team! I would even say the best football team from 1a-6a. That was shown early in the year when they spanked rival maryville!!!!

Elizabethton has also had very good tradition in football. They do not have the championships to show for it but they were playing UP UP UP in classes for many years!! They will come to play! Coach Witten knows what it takes to win and when he was a player he was in 2 semi final games! Just like this game everyone new the winner was going to be the state champion. Before the cyclones had to play maryville in the same round. Now its Alcoa which is the best team in high school football this year. But for the first time in a loooong time E-town now gets to play against a team that has very close to the same amount of students.

Etown has stuggle in recent years but I played with Coach Witten when Etown was a power house and we did play up! Every school we played was much bigger but we always came to play!!! Until the fourth round when we always hit Maryville. Coach Witten knows what it takes in the playoffs and he knows that any team left will be good!! AE is good but I know the CYCLONES will be ready and playing at home will be the difference!!!

Did Etown's QB get hurt? How did they miss a field goal cause it became costly.

This is a good day for all of East TN football. I am proud of both teams for playing this game and making a tough schedule!!!

My pick would be Etown in a close game! Betsy at home gives them the slight edge.

The Ashville school site is crazy nice for a high school!!! This site is better then most small college sites!

It is sort of like picking up speed each week getting faster and faster, then all the sudden "BAM" hitting the wall. Alcoa, and AE now that is fast and athletic. Alcoa has a much faster, athletic team than AE. Just so you know PLACALL, Alcoa has an even better class of young players. Just ask Maryville, Oak Ridge, Farragut, and a few more big boys.

Wow u beat Maryville one time in like 30 try's and all of a sudden your Gods gift to football! No one up here cares about Alcoa and AE right now your irrelavent.plus hasnt AE lost 2 games!We will focus on you all about week 12! My,my,my im am suprised at all the confidence from Greenville considering you are 1-1 and Elizabethton is 3-0. And considering you lost to a team that you beat last year at which time South was alot better than this year! And one guy is going to stop a running game wow he must be very impressive..... Although I remember a kid in Elizabethton about 6'5" super athlete i think last name Witten who couldnt shut down a run by himself so this kid must be unbeleivable! Face it this is goung to be a hard game for both teams and I bet fewest mistakes win! But the funny thing is its just for bragging rights cause its not a conference game and hopefully both these teams represent NET about week 14 in the state then we can cheer for each other! Anyway good luck to both and leave on the feild!

Well said! This is for just some bragging rights. I think this sounds like it will end up being a GREAT GAME! Etown and Gtown have good tradition on both sides I can remeber when I was playing for the CYCLONES in the 98 season and we went down to Greeneville and they whipped up on us pretty good during the season (we did not have Jason Witten in that game) and Gtwon also had some GREAT players in the skill positions. When the playoffs came around we returned the favor and won big but went on and lost to maryville. Shawn was great that year as a player. I think that was not the start of this good battle between these teams but it defenitly heated it up a lot. I have always respected GTown football and love playing in these games.

This game sounds like the making like in the late 90's. Kind of crazy that Shawn is the coach now.

Im just excited to see GOOD teams again giving it all they have and having great pride in the schools!

The Cyclones are off to a nice 2-0 start and appear to be for real. They should not even give Greeneville a fleeting second thought until after the Happy Valley game. Happy Valley is a good team and is dangerous at home. If the Cyclones knock off the Warriors, then we should have a great game with Greeneville. I know nothing about Greeneville this year, but I know they have a great tradition and have had some very good teams in the past. This year's Green Devils will have their chance to see where they rank among the Devil teams of the past, but they have to play the games. So does Elizabethton. I have talked to the coach and several of the Cyclone players. In my opinion the "Cyclone Swagger" is back and I see fire in their eyes. I may be wrong, but my old coaching instincts tell me this will be a special year in Betsy. Go Cyclones!!!!!!

I agree with you Coachh17. Etown must make sure they are ready this week first so I will hold my Greenville prediction until the HV game is over. I know how hard it is to win a big game like the SHHS game and then get ready for another big game it is always hard. I know my boy Coach Witten will have them ready though!

The EHS vs GHS is scary for the cyclones because GHS is off for a week and can really study Etown.

Tough schedule for EHS but it will make them stronger in the end!
