Thanks for the Smyrna schedule. Sounds like it's going to be a great day!

    scrimmages

Play day consists of teams from public & private schools. They are usually short duration games (30 to 60 minutes) and you usually play 2 or 3 games. These games do not count as far as district records. A lot of times you play teams that you normally don't play against during a regular season. It's for fun and to let the coaches try different plays & combinations of players to see what works best.
  3. According to TSSAA you can practice and do drills with your club/travel team, but you can't play actual games or even scrimmage against your own team mates. Most high school coaches of any sport discourages their players from participating with club/travel teams untill after the school season is over because of possible injuries, conflicts in coaching methods, and infractions to this rule. If you get caught or hurt, the whole team suffers.
  4. I refereed AYSO, school, & travel soccer for 8 years and never had to pull my gun. thumb
  5. I have seen several high school softball coaches coaching travel teams. Don't know how many of their school ball players were on the teams, but I know there were some.
  6. We were in the 18u division. There were no games played Saturday in this group because the bottom fell out about 30 min. before start time. We and the team we were playing only got to play 1 full game & just got in the 3rd inning when the storm came Sunday. The championship game was only the 2nd game for both undefeated teams. They did honor the tickets bought Sat. on Sunday, but the people who bought the $10 passes Saturday lost $5 because their teams didn't play that day. As far as I know, none of these teams got any compensation for the rain out. As for the umpires, I don't think they should get full price for games they don't call either for weather or forfeits. I was an Area Referee in AYSO soccer for 10 years and didn't get paid anything because it is an all volunteer program. I did it for the kids, and hated to have to quit because of a bad knee. I know some of the umps may need the extra money (who doesn't) and they have spent time & money to show up, but you shouldn't get paid full price for doing nothing.
  7. I know these tournaments are fund raisers, but you should get what you pay for. As I said, we are non-sponsored and have to spend our own money when we go to tournaments. We do have some fund raisers also, but I don't think we would have any returning customers if we only gave them half of what they paid for.
  8. Don't know for sure but I think so. All I know is we talked to a guy named Joe.
  9. None of our parents got anything back. Some had even bought the weekend pass.
  10. We came to play in the Creive Hall Classic Tournament this past weekend but only got to play 1 whole game and 3 innings of another because of the storms. I know the organizers can't do anything with the weather, but they should give a refund if the stated minimum games are not played. We were not the only team that was short changed. The team that took the trophy only played 2 games. We don't have any sponsors so we are a pay as you play team. We asked for half the money back (which we thought was fair enough even though we actually didn't play half the games) but was refused. I don't know what the rain out policy is on other tournaments, but we will find out before we send our money in again!
  11. Good idea, but someone needs to post in the important topics section on the softball board to look at the AAU site to post and read about travel softball.
  12. We are planning on playing in the Cane Ridge tourney on the 11th-13th of June, if we can get another catcher. We will have practice @ Prince Field (Riverside/Pillow Park) in Columbia this Sunday from 6pm to 8pm. Please call me if you are interested.
  13. Still looking for another catcher to play full time.
  14. Columbia, TN 18u team looking for extra pitcher & catcher to play in Huntsville, AL tourney this Memorial Day weekend with possible full time position. Call 931-270-3659 days or 931-381-4526 after 6pm. Ask for Rick.:usa:

Columbia had no seniors this year. As of now, we will have 4 seniors next year they are: Becky Tinsley #17, Leslie Reamer #12, Royesha Goodman #11, & Jessica Bridenbaugh #7. See y'all in travel ball! Correction: Goodman #8

  22. Hey sweet, lighten up, I know the stats. My reply was just for fun. Seems like I hit a sore spot while I was poking fun. Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you.
