  1. I understand that, but I believe he was replying to that poster in particular. It's not just the one person though, Mr.Noitall, one of your pals on here, even said Columbia Academy was going to West Tenn tournaments to run up their record. The people, who know what they're talking about, know that there are good teams in West Tenn. Have we lagged behind in the past? Yes, but the talent level and amount of girls playing travel is increasing greatly. The truth is, especially here recently, if you're name wasn't Goodpasture, Soddy, Beech, or Trinity the last couple of years, then you ended your season with a loss.

Also regarding the West Tenn teams not traveling to Midd Tenn Tournaments, I know Huntingdon and Lexington were scheduled to play in Hendersonville but all their games were rained out. A few teams went to the MTSCA tournament this year; some more teams went to the Tom Corbitt in Waverly. Obion Co. even went to the Bob Jones in Alabama. It's hard for them to make it to Soddy and Ooltewah because of the distance and cost. Camden went to the Brentwood tournament. So teams are traveling, but it's usually the better teams that are going.

  2. That is such an ignorant statement. Trinity has played some of the best teams out there and done very well. I'd venture to say that Riverdale with CAT would have beaten most teams. The Goodpasture game went into two or three overtimes with Devon pitching. The one thing that has plagued them the most is errors this year, which is what happens when you have to adjust people around due to injuries. They've lost, but I think they are more than capable of holding their own against some of the best teams. They beat N. Little Rock, AR who turned around and beat Mt. Juliet the next game with the same pitcher pitching. If the two Middle TN tournaments they went to had not gotten rained out, I'm sure they would have had many more chances to play "quality" teams, cause we all know West Tenn and Kentucky have NO good teams, right?(sarcasm). I'd be willing to bet that most coaches of the top teams out there would disagree with you.

Regarding the St. Benedict game, they were just more inspired I guess. There were some errors on TCA that don't usually happen, but you have to make those plays. Once they can get everybody healthy and in their groove, I don't think anybody would be glad to face them.

  3. I'll take a stab at a top 10 for rural West Tenn:

    1. TCA

    2. Covington

    3. Ripley

    4. Westview

    5. Camden

    6. McNairy Central

    7. Dyer Co.

    8. Huntingdon

    9. Lexington

    10. Gibson Co.

If you throw in Shelby Co. area: Munford, Collierville, Houston, Bolton could be thrown in there as well.

  4. They're also going to sign the 2nd Baseman for Trinity, Ali Bozza, this Thursday! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  5. Trinity went up to KY to play against some of the best teams in the state yesterday. The currently ranked 2,3,4,9,10,11,16, and 20 ranked teams in KY were all there. After pool play was delayed until Saturday, Trinity won their pool, beating Muhlenburg North 8-0 and #10 Mercy Academy out of Louisville 2-0. They started out tournament play by beating #16 Allen Co.-Scottsville 8-0, then beat Calloway Co. 5-1. In the semi-finals, they played #4 and last years state champion Greenwood, beating them 1-0. The championship started around 12:00 am with Trinity going up against # 10 Mercy again. The girls played very well, but came out on the losing end, 2-1, at about 1:20 in the morning. Overall, it was a great day with them going 5-1, and I think Trinity showed how tough TN softball really is!

Also, Rossview represented TN well getting the overall # 1 seed in the tournament before losing to Mercy in the quarterfinals.

  6. Ummm Page has won multiple state titles in Volleyball... /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> And whereas West Tenn has not been traditionally the strongest in past years, there are still plenty of good teams there, i.e. Trinity(2x A State Champions), Covington(2nd and 3rd the last two years in AA), Camden(Last years Runner-up to Goodpasture in 3 games). I'm sure Columbia Academy is going to find plenty of competition there. They went 1-2-1 in the last tournament out west, with the only win coming against a Middle Tenn team. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  7. I think it's awesome to see this level of competitiveness in West Tenn softball. I think it's a great testament to the middle school programs and travel ball experience that these girls are getting before they even enter high school. From top to bottom District 13 has some good teams, then when you add in teams like Covington, Ripley, TCA, Lexington, McNairy, and Camden, it shows the level of progress the West has made!

  8. Umm I'm not affiliated with Forrest, but they didn't play on Saturday for some reason, according to another thread. I have to ask why it's so important to you though...

  9. It was Ivy pitching and Ellen on short. Sometimes things like that just happen, especially in early tournaments. I have no doubt that the ladies will settle back in and be just fine. Getting their senior All-State 3rd Baseman back will help, and they'll find their groove.

Also, it did look like the ball took a weird hop on the centerfielder when she was coming in to back up the play. It's just the way the ball bounces sometimes. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  10. Unfortunately I didn't see any of the games, but a family member called and gave me scores

TCA 5 vs. siegel 4 in extra innings

TCA 0 vs. Goodpasture 1 in extra innings

The TCA/Goodpasture game was a great game. Devon and Ellen Renfroe pitched really well, and Goodpasture came out with the game winning hit in the second extra inning.

  11. Delta, I wouldn't let that comment bother you. Pitching is an extremely important part to softball. You could be the best team in the world, but if your pitcher can't get it across the plate, then you're going to lose. Thomas has put in the work to be a great pitcher and her effort is paying off.

  12. I really think Huntingdon has what it takes to make some noise this year. They have excellent pitching and the players behind her can make the plays. Huntingdon has played TCA tough the last three outings with two of them going extra innings. TCA has had the pleasure of excellent pitching, great defense, and strong bats the last few years. I believe once they get everyone back and healthy their hitting will come around as well. Good luck to Huntingdon this weekend in Hendersonville; it would be great to see both teams do well. It's a great move by their coaches to put them in this tournament!

  13. Piglet, I'm not upset with your question at all. However, I am upset with people posting things on the situation that they know nothing about Like I said, I have already said that they are there this year. However, if the people on this board don't think they read this and they are upset that it's being discussed, then they're wrong. I'm just trying to look out for them cause they are great, Christian people, and I don't want anyone's feelings to get hurt by this thread, like they already have been. I'm sorry if some people take offense to that, and believe me after this comment I'm done with the subject.

  14. If they were suppose to know the facts, then they would have been told the facts. This thread is already upsetting people involved in this situation. How would you like it if you came on to this board and your business was being plastered everywhere? You wouldn't, so bobcat I suggest you need to chill out. I've already clarified the rumor. They asked if they were leaving this year, and I said no they are not. End of discussion.
